View Full Version : Good/Bad Programmes
I thoroughly enjoyed Call The Midwife over Christmas and also Downton although I found it hard to get used to the modern idioms in Downton.
"I'll leave you to it " would never have been used in 1926 and others .
Call the Midwife was "smaltzy" but I still loved it .
I haven't seen Downton yet, will probably watch it tonight. Did it live up to your expectations?
I've never seen Call the Midwife.

I didn't think of that! :rotfl:
I'll stay off this thread now until I've seen Downton so you lot can discuss it without fear of spoiling it.

Yes, it did apart from the use of modern phrases which really jarred but that is well documented anyway . There were a few other nit picks but I am not going to let those spoil it. I won't say more.
I have watched Call The Midwife for years, since it first started but I think this was a Christmas special . it is a woman's programme really about babies and childbirth interspersed with the characters lives and very authentic of the 50's and 60's . Happy ending .

I'm just hoping that the final episode of the current series of Homeland has a much better ending than last year's very weak finale.
