Former Coronation Street star Tupele Dorgu is returning to the soap world with a new recurring role on Hollyoaks, Digital Spy can confirm.
The actress has landed the part of Dr Berrington, who makes her first appearance on our screens later this month.
Dr Berrington will be introduced after a regular character is rushed to hospital following a sudden health scare.
The tense scenes will air just after Christmas, but we've been sworn to secrecy on further storyline details - including the identity of the villager who may be unwell.
While Dr Berrington isn't a regular, Digital Spy understands that she will appear on screen intermittently in the same way as other recurring Hollyoaks characters like DS Thorpe.
Dorgu is best known for playing Coronation Street's Kelly Crabtree between 2004 and 2010.
Since leaving the cobbles, she has made appearances in Waterloo Road, The Case, Trying Again and Cucumber, as well as starring in a number of theatre productions.
Hollyoaks airs Dr Berrington's arrival on Tuesday, December 29 at 7pm on E4 and the following evening at 6.30pm on Channel 4.
