Coronation Street's Eva Price will make an upsetting discovery about Aidan Connor after they get passionate over the festive season.

After flirting for weeks, the pair grow closer when Eva supports Aidan following the bombshell news that Johnny is Carla's father.

However, after they bring the New Year in together by sharing a kiss, Eva looks set for heartbreak when Kate drops a bombshell that could make her think twice about starting a relationship with Aidan.

Catherine Tyldesley, who plays Eva, explained: "There is a connection between Eva and Aidan which grows because she helps him through the whole situation regarding finding out about Carla being his half-sister.

"Eva tells him that she went through the same thing when she found out Leanne was her sister and at first she was really angry and couldn't deal with it, but now they are very close and it is one of the best things that has happened to her.

"It is clear they fancy each other and then at the New Year's Eve party they end up snogging the face off each other for the whole night."

Afterwards, Kate will throw a spanner in the works when she reveals that Aidan had made a bet that he wouldn't give into temptation by sleeping with Eva, prompting her to throw a drink over him.

"Kate comes into the pub and tells Aidan that he owes her a drink as she had bet him he would sleep with Eva," Tyldesley revealed.

"Eva is furious and throws the drink over his head! It isn't the best start to the relationship."

Eva flirts with Aidan
Speaking about what the future holds for the duo now, Tyldesley added: "We have filmed into the New Year and they seem to be developing them as a couple.

"He does seem to bring the best out in her, he thinks she is bonkers but he also sees a more serious, intelligent side to her.

"We have got a more serious storyline coming up so you will see a different side to Eva."

Coronation Street airs these scenes on Thursday December 31 and New Year's Day on ITV.

Immersing herself in a game of roulette, Carla is surprised when Robert enters the casino and joins her at the table, still cut up after recent events with Tracy. Having won a small fortune, Robert and Carla celebrate with a drink. On a high, Robert suggests they take the champagne to a bedroom, but will Carla agree?

Also, Eva and Aidan emerge from the bedroom. Eva confides in Leanne that she really likes him and doesn't want to mess it up. In an attempt not to appear too keen, Eva makes out to Kate that Aidan spent the night on the sofa. Aidan is hurt and Eva worries that she might have blown it.

Weighed down with remorse, Carla arrives to see Nick. When Robert comes out of the kitchen, Carla can barely look at him.

While Nick serves, Carla has a quiet word with Robert, telling him that she is engaged to the best man in the world and that as far she is concerned, their earlier indiscretions never happened. Will Robert agree to keep quiet?

Meanwhile, Roy comforts Cathy as she sorts through Alan's stuff, pushing thoughts of the incriminating letter to the back of his mind. However, Roy later confides in Anna, who is shocked to read the letter. It reveals that Alan had an affair with Nessa, Cathy's sister. Later, Ken cancels dinner with Roy and Cathy when Nessa gets called away to collect a drunken Alex.

Elsewhere, as Rita, Mary, Ken and Billy see Emily off on her trip to Peru, Norris arrives and hands her a bag full of pencils, explaining they're to help with her voluntary work at the school. Will Emily and Norris clear the air before she leaves?

Also, when Eva discovers that Aidan and Kate had a bet on whether he'd sleep with Eva before the year was out, she is furious and pours Aidan's drink over his head.

Emily to Peru??? What age is she?Over 80? Yes-very believable for someone at her age to travel that far! Not. Stupid farewell storyline for Emily. Spain would have been a better option or just some cottage in Wales. We've never seen Peter either and he's only in Portsmouth or where was it..?

I think it's a great storyline sending Emily off to Peru. People are not finished just because they reach 80. Emily is still fit and active and I see no reason why she wouldn't go to Peru. I know many 80+ year olds who would be fit enough to go to South America - and do go to faraway places on holiday. Let's not write off a whole generation just because of their age.

Over on Coronation Street, Aidan Connor faces a choice between good business sense and his own pride in a head-to-head match with one of Underworld's clients.

When Aidan (Shayne Ward) and his sister Kate make arrangements for the factory to take part in a ping-pong tournament with O'Driscolls, Carla is quick to suggest that they should let the rival team win.

Carla (Alison King) knows the importance of keeping O'Driscolls sweet as they're counting on a lucrative new contract with them, but she fears that Aidan's ego could take over on the day.

The recent spate of factory storylines featuring the new Connors have been extremely tedious. Now we have to endure a ping pong tournament that sounds like it's going to be cringeworthy.

Here's a first look at the moment that Coronation Street's Carla Connor and Robert Preston get passionate after rushing up to a hotel room together.

The unlikely pair seek solace in each other's arms as they both deal with tricky times in their personal lives.

Viewers are about to see another eventful week for Carla (Alison King) as Johnny Connor finally tells her that he's her biological father, sending her on another downward spiral.

Robert (Tristan Gemmill) is also currently feeling betrayed after discovering that his partner Tracy was close to a reunion with her killer ex Rob Donovan.

Falling back into her old gambling habit on New Year's Day, Carla heads to the casino and she is surprised when Robert joins her at a roulette table.

When the duo manage to win themselves a small fortune, they celebrate with a drink - but it's Robert who goes a step further by suggesting that they should take their champagne upstairs to a bedroom.

Clearly caught up in the moment, Carla agrees - but is she playing with fire by cheating on Nick and getting her claws into Tracy's man?

Here's how Eva Price and Aidan Connor start the new year in Coronation Street.

Eva, played by Catherine Tyldesley, finds herself in a clinch with knicker factory boss Aidan Connor (Shayne Ward) as they see in 2016 at the Bistro.

However, the kiss wasn't as romantic as it looks. "Poor Shayne - Eva wears bright red lipstick and by the time we had finished the kissing scene it was all over his face," recalled Tyldesley.

The smooch marks the start of a big romance for the pair in 2016. On New Year's Day, Leanne catches Eva trying to sneak Aidan out of the flat, and the blossoming romance develops further when Aidan discovers that his dad Johnny is also Carla's dad.

"Eva tells him that she was shocked when she found out Leanne was her half-sister but now they are very close and she feels it could be the same for him and Carla. They bond over this shared experience," explained Tyldesley.

"Eva is ready for romance again after what happened with Jason and it looks like she and Aidan could be perfect together."

The path to true love is never smooth though, and in January a new client at Underworld leads Eva to realise that all is not what it seems with the O'Driscolls and they are hiding a dark secret.

Earlier this month, it was revealed that after the two share their New Year's kiss, Kate drops a bombshell that could make Eva think twice about starting a relationship with Aidan.

Tracy Barlow's insecurity grows on Coronation Street tonight (December 31) as she fears that Robert Preston has already moved on from her.

The schemer is determined to make amends with Robert (Tristan Gemmill) following some wise words of advice from her daughter Amy, but a trip to the Bistro leaves her feeling more downcast than ever.

When Tracy (Kate Ford) spots Leanne Tilsley wiping some food from Robert's face, she gets completely the wrong idea as she assumes the pair are now an item.

In reality, the only connection between Leanne and Robert is that they're planning a celebration for Nick's birthday - but how long will it take for Tracy to realise this?

Coronation Street airs tonight at 8pm on ITV.
