t's taken 29 years to happen, but the transmission gap between Neighbours' UK and Australian broadcasts has finally been scrapped.
Channel 5 has announced that it will begin airing episodes of the soap on the same day as Australia from January, establishing the broadcaster as the first port of call for Neighbours' British fanbase.
Viewers in the UK are currently seeing all the latest action from Erinsborough two weeks behind those in Australia, but an extra ten episodes have been scheduled in between December 7 and December 18 to close the gap.
This means that viewers will finally get to see Christmas on Ramsay Street at the right time, as well as witnessing Australia's dramatic season finale episode before the show takes its annual festive break.
From January 4, Neighbours will return to screens in both countries and air the same episode on the same day. Aware that many UK fans currently watch via illegal uploads, channel bosses hope that the move will remove the temptation for piracy. Surely not :D
