Rhea Bailey - Coronation Street - ITV
Rhea played PC Mel Ryder in the Bill from 2008 to 2010. Some of her other credits include Blue Murder and The Mentalist.
She filmed her first scenes today and will be on screen in November when Caz arrives in Weatherfield for Kate’s birthday and to set the date for their wedding.
Rhea who has spent the last 4 years living in LA said:
“Too much sun isn’t good for ya’. Really excited to be swapping my surfboard for a brolly, and joining the cast on the Nation’s Favorite show!”
Looks like Steph's sister!

She does look very much like Steph in that photo.
I'm guessing Kate Connor is a future love interest for Sophie.
It would be good if Sophie could have a break from relationships. Its one person after another and no other storyline emerges for her. The writers need to think beyond her sexuality.
Over on Coronation Street, a new face arrives on the cobbles as Kate Connor's fiancee Caz turns up.
As Kate (Faye Brooks) celebrates her birthday, Aidan and Carla both arrange for Caz to pay a visit as a special surprise.
Kate is thrilled when Caz's taxi pulls up outside Underworld and they share a big kiss as they're reunited for the first time in a while.
Overjoyed, Kate tells Caz that her unexpected appearance is the best birthday present she could have wished for. The Connor family then head off to the Bistro to celebrate Kate's happy day in style.

Played by former The Bill star Rhea Bailey, Caz spends a lot of time away from Kate as she's a soldier.
As Kate adjusts to Caz being back, she admits to Michelle that their relationship can be very intense because they spend so little time together.
When Caz later suggests an April wedding, all the eyes of her family are on Kate to see what she says. Will she agree to set the date?
Coronation Street airs these scenes on Monday, November 16 at 7.30pm on ITV.
Coronation Street will be introducing another newcomer next week as Kate Connor's fiancée Caz turns up in Weatherfield.
Played by former The Bill star Rhea Bailey, Caz spends a lot of time away from Kate as she's a soldier.
However, upon her arrival in the street, Caz immediately sets about trying to make their wedding plans official, oblivious to the fact that Kate may be having slight doubts.
Bailey said: "I think this is the closest Caz has ever come in a relationship to feeling equal to her partner. I think Caz thinks Kate likes her back just as much, or is as close as it's going to get.
"Caz loves Kate on a whole new level - I guess she's had some crazy crushes on popstars growing up, but I think her upbringing was possibly more oppressed than Kate's was. She probably wouldn't have taken girls home to her parents.
"And as she's been in the army, she probably hasn't had time or chance to have a relationship, so anything she has had relationship-wise in the past has probably been very cloak and dagger. This is a legitimate relationship that has legs."
Speaking about her character's upbringing, Bailey revealed that Caz has faced a tougher time with her sexuality than Kate and is therefore delighted to be welcomed by the Connors.
"I feel like she hasn't necessarily had as easy a ride as Kate has about her sexuality. Caz is an infantry woman in the army. I get the impression that her family haven't been as accepting of who she is.
"Caz is so chuffed that the Connors have welcomed her into their family so much - she's almost disbelieving at how welcoming they have been!
"I think Caz has a little bit of a low opinion of herself, she doesn't think she's that pretty, she's quite insecure and I'm hoping people will find her quite sweet.
" I hope the audience find her quite endearing, because I find her quite endearing! She's not overly confident in herself, but she is a confident soldier. Professionally she's strong and she's confident in that realm."
Bailey also discussed Caz's eagerness to set a date for the wedding, despite Kate's obvious reservations.
"I think you will pick up on the fact that perhaps Kate is feeling a little apprehensive about the wedding, this is all quite new for her and she doesn't really see what the rush is. I don't think Caz has started noticing Kate's reservations just yet, but maybe we will!
"It's Caz who really pushes for them to fix a date. She wants to make sure this wedding happens before anything goes wrong or before any obstacles can appear!
"You will see how keen Caz is - she's super, super keen! She does not want anyone else to have Kate, she never wants to let her go."
Not interested in this at all
Coronation Street fans will see a darker side to Kate Connor's fiancée Caz in an upcoming storyline.
Caz (Rhea Bailey) made her first appearance in Weatherfield last year when she took a break from her duties in the army to surprise her partner Kate on her birthday.
While Caz's controlling side has been hinted at already in previous episodes, it is set to step up a gear as she becomes increasingly possessive over Kate.
A Coronation Street insider confirmed to Digital Spy that viewers will see the story take a dark turn as Caz becomes obsessed with the idea that something is going on between Kate and Sophie Webster.
Elsewhere, actress Faye Brooks has admitted that although she was nervous before her first on-screen kiss with Bailey, it ended up being "easier than kissing a guy".
Speaking to The Sun, she said: "It was the first time I'd ever kissed a girl. Both Rhea and I were nervous and we had to talk to each other a lot.
"It was the first day I had ever met Rhea too. We read the scripts together first but that was nothing compared to having to actually kiss her.
"We wanted to make it believable, real and loving. I was really glad that Rhea was open to whatever I had to say and I was all ears to her ideas."
"In some ways it was easier than kissing a guy. I loved how open she was. I've kissed loads of guys on stage and this was very different. We got a really positive reaction from viewers."

That all sounds a completely novel idea....and nothing like Tosh and Tina in Eastenders...oh, er, hang on a minute.....

I really couldn't care less about Kate, Sophie and Caz
Sophie has to have a lesbian partner according to the producer and writers. She is the token lesbian on the street. Whereas the gay men can go through long periods not having a partner ( like real life), todd does not have anyone but is it an issue...No! Sean did not have anyone for ages So why do they do this with sophie its nonsense. We do not need this storyline plus she swears undying love after 5 mins! Its not even convincing. She is an immature character who has taken to power dressing now she is doing admin in the garage. A chip of the old block if you ask me,
Coronation Street fans will see Caz Hammond's vulnerable side next week, as she begs Sophie Webster not to steal her girlfriend Kate Connor.
Caz is currently fearing for the future of her relationship after she caught Kate sharing a kiss with Sophie, but she's about to realise that a softer approach may be her best bet.
Next week's episodes see fresh tensions flare up when Sophie bumps into Caz and Kate at the cafe, prompting Caz to cry out in 'pain' and claim that Sophie caught her injured ankle.
Knowing she did no such thing, Sophie smells a rat and immediately starts to suspect that Caz is playing on her injury just to win sympathy from Kate.
Sophie's suspicions escalate further when she realises that Caz is being very cagey about her original accident, so she can't resist sharing her theories with Kate.
When Kate also realises that Caz is being secretive over what happened, she demands to hear the truth from her girlfriend - causing another major row between the couple.
The pair do later get back on track again, but Caz is clearly worried about Sophie's influence over Kate. At the end of her tether, she later approaches Sophie and begs her not to take Kate away from her. Will Sophie be moved?
Rhea Bailey, who plays Caz, revealed: "At the moment Caz has gone from being quite aggressive towards Sophie to becoming the vulnerable one. Caz was furious after she found Sophie and Kate kissing, but she realises as the story unfolds that they all have to co-exist in the same street.
"Now I think that, tactically, she is so scared of losing Kate that she is playing the victim.
"When Caz makes out that Sophie has banged into her ankle you can't really see what happened, but I think the audience will know she's made it up. She plays it like Sophie definitely did do it. Sophie knows Caz is lying, though. Sophie obviously likes Kate, so she's on heightened alert for anything that seems wrong.
"When Kate confronts her about her accident, Caz totally freaks out about why she doesn't trust her, so she's still not being honest with Kate and she's scared to tell her the truth.
"This relationship is all she's got and it's the best thing she's ever had. Caz and Kate have been apart since Kate came to Weatherfield from Cyprus, so her feelings were heightened and she does feel threatened by Sophie."
With Kate and Sophie clearly having feeling for each other, this situation is sure to get worse before it gets better. But what does Bailey think Caz's best move is?
"I am a little bit worried about Caz's state of mind," she admitted. "Seeing as Kate is really all Caz has, I don't think they should be getting married at the moment. Going for the long game is definitely the better plan.
"Caz needs to get a job, maybe make some friends of her own and then they can have more of a relaxed relationship. At this point, getting married could end in disaster!"

Coronation Street star Rhea Bailey has a warning for all of the show's fans - her character Caz Hammond's behaviour will get a whole lot worse.
The actress appeared on ITV's Lorraine today (June 13) to tease the future of her ongoing storyline, which has seen Caz grow increasingly possessive over her girlfriend Kate Connor.
"I feel like Coronation Street have sent me here to warn you," she laughed. "People are invested in this storyline. It's going to get worse and I apologise on the writers' behalf!
"Just brace yourself. You're in for a bit of a bumpy ride - it's going to get ugly."
Rhea also told show host Lorraine Kelly that Caz's backstory will be explored over the next few months, delving into why she's behaving so erratically.
"As we spend more time with her, that's all going to unfold in time - over the coming weeks, over the coming months," she explained.
"There's a new interesting friendship between Caz and somebody else that's going to develop. I'm not allowed to say who."

Caz Hammond set for new love interest after ''suffocating'' Kate Connor, says Rhea Bailey
The 32-year-old, who has played British Army officer Caz since 2015, joined Lorraine Kelly on her ITV daytime show this morning to talk about her troubled character.
Caz has been struggling after returning to Weatherfield last month to be with fiancée Kate Connor.
As they try to get things back on track Rhea has revealed the duo will hit rock bottom.
"She is really interesting," said Bailey of her character. "She is holding on so tightly I'm worried she might suffocate her [Kate]."
After months apart, the pair reunited but with jealousy and emotions running high, the wedding has been postponed with even more disaster on the way.
"I feel like Coronation Street have sent me here to warn you," she added. "It's going to get worse. I apologise on the writer's behalf. It's not my fault. Just brace yourself, it's going to get bumpy."
The actress teased the week ahead, which sees her relationship with Kate hit the rocks, saying: “You have to find why she’s being like this, why she’s so insecure. I’m finding it really interesting from a psychological point of view.”
She added: “It’s all going to unfold over time. Over the coming weeks and months and there’s an interesting friendship with Caz that’s going to develop…”
Rhea, moved back from Los Angeles to take the part on the cobbles, after relocating to the States after leaving The Bill in 2010.
Speaking about how she got the role, the actress added: "I came back from LA and they asked me if I wanted to do a few episodes."
When asked about growing up with her sister, Corinne Bailey Rae, she added: "We grew up in one of those households where it was all very free. We didn't have to conform or be anyone else."
Rhea then gave the presenter a copy of her sister's new album, much to Lorraine's delight.

Does she develop feelings for Maria?
so Sophie is going to ring the army and they are going to disclose HR issues to her? Highly unlikely!
Things are about to heat up on Coronation Street after it was revealed that Caz Hammond will be involved in a shock plot twist with Maria Connor.
As the Sunday People reports, Caz will become obsessed with Maria over the coming months, and try to kiss her as part of a surprising new storyline.
Maria will be forced to dodge the kiss from the army officer later this year.
She will then open up to Audrey Roberts about Caz's obsession with her.
Samia Ghadie, who plays Maria, has previously hinted at an exciting but emotional new story for her character - could this be it?

Why is Caz still staying around if Kate don't want her back, is she gone completely from the army?

Maybe she had a dishonerable discharge from the Army off-screen as the last I remember was she was awaiting a Court Martial for assaulting another female ... the whole Army bit is so badly and incorrectly written  I can´t take to Caz either and as far as I am concerned she could go the sooner, the better

the whole Army bit is so badly and incorrectly written
It's just like the way they have written about Sally and the Council. They obviously do no research at all and just make it all up.
I think she will blackmail all parties soon
Coronation Street's Caz Hammond hatches her most twisted plan yet next week as she uses Maria Connor's terror to her own advantage.
At the weekend, we revealed shocking new spoiler pictures showing Maria (Samia Ghadie) being attacked in her own home when she stumbles across a burglar.
The incident leaves Maria with a nasty injury when she falls and hits her head as the intruder flees, but there's a lucky coincidence (or is it a coincidence?) when Caz soon pops up and rescues her.
Caz deals with the situation perfectly as she tends to Maria's wound and calls the police to report the burglary, then agrees to stay over for the night to keep an eye on Maria.
Despite Caz's caring attitude, Maria makes it very clear the next morning that it's not a permanent arrangement and she expects her to leave again - not wanting any more hassle with Kate.
Desperate not to be left homeless again, Caz then comes up with a way to terrorise Maria by making a number of creepy silent phone calls to her.
As Maria realises that she could still be in danger, will she invite crafty Caz to stay for longer to 'protect' her?
Rhea Bailey, who plays Caz, revealed: "Caz is just grateful that she can be there to mop up the aftermath and be a shoulder to cry on for Maria. In some twisted way, I think Caz feels like the hero.
"She just happened to be around the Street when Maria was burgled. She is sad that this meant Maria had to get hurt, but she's secretly really happy that she can be around and help Maria get over this."
She continued: "Caz makes a few silent phone calls because that's the only thing she can think to do. If Maria is scared, then she will need Caz to stay even more.
"I don't think Caz feels guilty about it at all - she's in survival mode. Caz knows she's seconds away from being back out on the street again and having nobody, so she thinks she has to do what she has to do to survive. I also think because Maria isn't actually in danger, she thinks it's okay because she's faking it all! Caz just keeps justifying it to herself."
Well, Maria did do pretty much the same thing to Tyrone Dobbs once...
But what does Caz actually want from Maria, aside from a roof over her head? It's already been revealed that Caz will try to kiss Maria in an upcoming storyline, so could she be developing true feelings for her?
Rhea explained: "It starts off just as friendship and almost as a need to be part of something - a part of Maria's family perhaps. She felt she was part of something in the Army and now she doesn't have that anymore. She is searching for that again.
"At first she wants to be part of Maria and Liam's unit, but then eventually she develops feelings for Maria. It's really sad for Caz when you think about the root of her behaviour. She's not just a 'baddie'. Her behaviour comes from her need to have a family."

I doubt Maria will return her feelings - though she did say she was off men recently... :p
Caz is very good at manipulation and will try anything to stay on Coronation Street ... her army career evidently forgotten about :wall::wall:

Does she have any family or other friends who want her?
Never seen her with anyone on the street and don´t remember her talking about anyone somewhere else ..
Coronation Street is rocked by a shock death next week that leaves Kirk Sutherland and Maria Connor devastated.
The pair are rocked when they receive a phone call from someone close to them revealing that a close family member is very unwell hasn’t got long left to live.
Maria and Kirk are devastated, but things go from bad to worse as by the middle of the week when they find out their relative has died.
As they share fond memories of their time together, weird Caz Hammond relishes the opportunity to be a pillar of support to a grieving Maria.
When Maria explains to Caz that she has to go to visit Pablo in London, she’s taken aback when Caz invites herself along for the trip too.
Knowing she has to have an honest conversation with Caz, she explains to her that she only sees her as a friend, prompting the disgraced soldier to flee in tears, unable to come to terms with it.
Maria then tells Caz that she thinks it best if she moves out of the salon flat before she leaves for London. But with Maria out of the way, will Caz persuade Kirk to let her stay a while longer and what plan does she have up her sleeve?

Is it one of their parents who die or a relative of Pablo?
If you thought Coronation Street's Caz Hammond was a bit unhinged then you haven't seen anything yet as she will soon be at the centre of one of the show's darkest stories.
Caz has already displayed a rather uncomfortable fixation with Maria Connor (Samia Ghadie), but matters are set to get a whole lot worse in a future plot.
And actress Rhea Bailey was so shocked by the nature of the storyline that she questioned whether it could be shown before the watershed.
"However bad you think it's going to get, just times it by ten," she said to Radio Times. "I've even asked, 'Are we allowed to do this because you do know this show is on before the watershed, right?' It's definitely going to get quite dark."
She continued: "We all know Caz is completely unhinged. And I'm completely with the audience.
"I'm screaming at the TV telling Maria to run to safety. It's all very nail-biting and you should be worried about what Caz is capable of."
One thing's for sure, we are very intrigued. And a little bit worried.

Coronation Street star Rhea Bailey has opened up about the abuse she has received because of her unhinged character Caz Hammond.
Caz (Rhea Bailey) has spent the past month lying low after framing Maria for her 'murder' - which has had the desired effect, given that Maria is now behind bars awaiting trial.
Upcoming scenes may finally see Caz get caught out when her ex-partner Kate Connor manages to lure her back to the cobbles in a cunning trap.
But sadly for Rhea, she has taken the brunt of her alter ego's bizarre behaviour and has received a barrage of abuse, both online and in person.
"Somebody shouted at the top of their voice that I was a bitch the other day," she explained. "I looked at the friend I was with and said, 'Is this okay? Am I supposed to just stand for this?'
"I can take care of myself and I don't think you can give people abuse for no reason; I don't think that's okay. But apparently because we're on a TV show, they have permission to give us abuse in the street. And I'm supposed to be really polite and nice about it because it's my job.
"So instead of me giving a normal reaction which would be, 'Who do you think you're talking to?' I have to go, 'Oh, are you talking about my character? Oh, I see.'
"You have to be really nice to these people and treat them with kid gloves when actually you want to say, 'You can't talk to me like that!' To a lot of the viewers, it's like a panto. They're booing a character, they're not booing me."
Thankfully, Rhea has been able to get advice from her co-stars Kate Ford and Connor McIntyre - who play fellow villains Tracy Barlow and Pat Phelan. She also admits that she has had support from the Corrie press team.
"I've spoken to people here about it," she said. "I've spoken to other actors here such as Kate Ford, because she obviously gets abuse from people on a regular basis and she's used to it now. So I had a chat with her and I had a chat with Connor. I was surprised to learn that he has such a different response from people.
"Kate's really good. She's a really good, honest and genuine person. She said you have to get to the point where you don't really care what people think of you and, because she's been dealing with it for so long, it doesn't affect her. It's just a learning curve that you embark on when you're in a show as huge as this.
"The press office said they would investigate anything really nasty online, but it hasn't gone that far. It's just unkind comments, but I think that happens to everybody, regardless of your job - that's the nature of the beast with social media."

Shame that some don´t realise that Rhea is playing a part, she is not really framing anyone in real life ....
well i wouldn't class caz with phelan and tracy as villains go

She appeared very quick when Kate was talking to Aidan about still loving her ... although I think we have bunny boiler here
Coronation Street just aired the moment we've all been waiting for, as scheming Caz Hammond finally got her comeuppance.
Caz has spent the past few weeks lying low after framing Maria Connor for her 'murder', which led to the unlucky hairdresser being charged and put behind bars to await trial. Based on pretty dodgy evidence, we should add.
Fortunately, Maria had a saviour tonight (December 2) in the form of Kate Connor, who realised that Caz was spying on Maria's flat via a hidden camera. It was about time somebody did!
Deciding to use this to her advantage, Kate pretended that she was still madly in love with Caz in front of the camera, knowing that it would lure her out of hiding.
Sure enough, Caz walked straight into the trap and begged Kate to run away with her. But the only trip Caz will be taking is one to the cells, after the police arrived on the cobbles to take her away thanks to Kate's quick-thinking.
Rhea Bailey has now left the Coronation Street cast after a year in the role of Caz, whose story has now officially come to an end.
With Caz getting justice, it paved the way for Maria to make a welcome return to the cobbles as the case against her had clearly fallen apart.
As the first thing Maria did when she returned was almost share a kiss with Aidan Connor, it's clear that the drama coming up for her is only just beginning.
And if rumours are to be believed, Maria may not be out of prison for long as she still has the sham marriage saga hanging over her head...

Rhea Bailey has left the Corrie cast now so we won´t even get to see what kind of punishment she is getting and where she will go now .... shame really ........
Rhea Bailey has revealed that we might not have seen the last of the scheming Caz Hammond on Coronation Street.
Caz finally got her comeuppance in dramatic scenes during Friday's (December 2) episode after being lured out by Kate Connor, having spent the past few weeks lying low after framing Maria Connor for her 'murder'.
It marked the end of Bailey's 14 months on the soap, and while viewers were kept in the dark, Rhea revealed that she had been told by producers that Caz's story would come to a "dramatic end at Christmas".
"The character has made a real impact. Having never played a baddie before, it's been a totally different experience for me. As a northern actress, to have been in Corrie is a really big deal," she told the Daily Star Sunday.
"I'm not gay in real life and I've probably had less blokes chatting me up than usual, but I've also had a couple of girls give me a wink and a nudge which is a nice compliment. The door has been left open, so who knows what might happen."
Playing a baddie has had its downsides though as she added that she has taken "quite a bit of flack from people in the street".
"I find it strange when people act as though it's real. I didn't know what to say. Over the last few months, I've taken time out to speak to people who have been rude to me, trying to show them I'm not really like Caz," Bailey continued.
"But I've realised I had to stop caring about what people think of me. I can't let it affect and upset me."
However, the positives of being on Corrie have outweighed the "negative bits" and she's as happy as us that "justice has been served" for Caz. For now, anyway…
Please, no return of the character or actress :nono:
I hope she does not comeback
