EastEnders' executive producer Dominic Treadwell-Collins has revealed details of which characters will be taking centre stage over the autumn.

The next few months are being billed as a dramatic time for Albert Square with the BBC One soap building up to a "very big Halloween" and ultimately Christmas.

At the forefront of the the action is the return of Kathy Beale, who has previously addressed her plans to move back to Walford permanently.

However, there is more drama to look forward to including a huge story for Stacey Branning, Max's trial, Carol Jackson's exit, a few returns and a new character.

Speaking at an EastEnders press event, Treadwell-Collins said: "We have got Max's trial which is filled with twists and turns and we want to keep the audience surprised by the outcome.

"We have got Ronnie, Charlie and Vincent's very warped love triangle, we have got Carol's departure, Dot comes out of prison, Robbie comes back and Lauren comes back briefly."

"We have also got the climax of the Les, Pam and Claudette story and there is a very big story for Stacey coming up.

"Shabnam and Kush's story is only just beginning and we've got Lee's depression running through."

Treadwell-Collins also admitted that there were some lighter scenes on the horizon for the Carter family as Linda's mum Elaine returns with a rather controversial love interest.

Elaine will return with a toyboy lover

He said: "We also have some rare fun for the Carter's with Maria Friedman returning for a three month stint as Elaine, with Scott Neil in tow as her toyboy lover. This will add a little bit of fun - it is fun for Mick and Linda in the Vic.

"There is joy but there is a lot of pain. Everyone has a chance to shine. I always say that in September we start the rumblings for the festive season and it is a big, big bumpy ride between now and Christmas. There are lots of shocks in store."

well Kelly Bright is going on Strictly Dancing-
so she will.be missing for weeks/months
dependent on how well she does.
I did wonder whether than was why they've
brought back Elaine for 3 months to fill gap
and she was popular last time?

As for Dean getting just desserts - I'll believe
it when it happens- its just so annoying
- shouldnt have promised justice ( even.tho
not legal ) if no.intentions of doing it.

I'm really looking forward to Max's trial.

It sounds like Shabnam and Kush will ultimately stay together, although no doubt there'll be plenty of obstacles in their way yet. Hopefully this means my theory that Stacey's baby was possibly Kush's was totally off base.

I expect Stacey's big storyline is to do with the key and/or her reaction to coming off her meds.

Dean was my first thought for a big Christmas comeuppance story, but he's not even mentioned!

The action is hotting up in a new trailer for EastEnders.

The clip, which was revealed this evening (September 3), shows a teaser of what's to come on the BBC One show this autumn.

Kathy heads to the skies, while Phil threatens Jane in the clip.

Elsewhere, Aunt Babe's secret was finally exposed in EastEnders tonight as Shirley, Mick and Tina tracked her down in Ramsgate.

EastEnders continues tomorrow (September 4) at 8pm on BBC One.

Here's an article that expands a bit on EE's autumn spoilers:

Note the line "things take a dark turn for Roxy and Dean", so his continued presence on the square is not being ignored as we feared. Hopefully Roxy will see his true colours and perhaps Ronnie will take action? We can only hope... :wall:

Would he rape again, maybe Roxy this time?

Ronnie would definitely kill him if he did...

If Roxy is seriously considering running off with Charlie and Dean hears of it, I can see him hurting her in some way

If Roxy is seriously considering running off with Charlie and Dean hears of it, I can see him hurting her in some way

From the spoilers it looked to me like Roxy does run off with Charlie and Matthew (she's carrying a suitcase at the station) but then appears to change her mind and call Ronnie. When Dean finds out he'll be furious and I agree will likely try to hurt in her some way. He already treats her like she's his property.
