Former EastEnders star Kierston Wareing is returning to the soap world as a fearsome new character in Hollyoaks.
The actress has landed the role of Ashley Davidson, the ruthless villain who was on the hunt for Ben Bradley's daughter Carly before she died.

Billed as a "venomous vixen", Ashley will arrive in the village next month and surprise her old acquaintance Trevor Royle (Greg Wood) at The Loft.
It's clear that Ashley means business when even Trevor seems nervous about her arrival, and there could be trouble to come when she demands money that she lost when Carly stole a very expensive ring of hers.
Teasing her new role, Wareing commented: "I would describe Ashley as a control freak - I don't believe she has a nice bone in her body but I'm enjoying every minute of playing her.
"I'm also thoroughly enjoying working with Greg Wood, Jorgie Porter and Charlie Wernham among others. Their characters are just a few who get manipulated by Ashley in some way or another, so stay tuned to see if she gets what she wants."

Could Trevor have met his match in Ashley?
Wareing is best known to soap fans for her role as Kirsty Branning on EastEnders. Kirsty was introduced to fans as a surprise twist in the BBC soap's Christmas episode in 2012 and stuck around on Albert Square for a year.
The star's impressive list of other acting credits includes roles in the film Fish Tank and TV dramas The Shadow Line and Top Boy.
