Hollyoaks fans can expect an emotional showdown between Reenie McQueen and her teenage daughter Cleo in tonight's E4 first look episode (July 8).

As Reenie (Zoe Lucker) remains on a downward spiral following the departure of her on-off boyfriend Pete Buchanan, she frantically searches the McQueen house for more booze so that she can continue to drown her sorrows.

Cleo (Nadine Mulkerrin) is disgusted with her mum's behaviour and becomes particularly angry when she realises that Reenie has no memory of drunkenly humiliating her at school the previous day.

Deciding that drastic action is needed to get Reenie back on the straight and narrow, Cleo desperately tries to take the alcohol away from her and locks her in a bedroom upstairs.

Although Reenie rages over Cleo's intervention, it does give mother and daughter a chance to rake over the family's past troubles as Cleo talks to her from behind the locked door. Is there any hope for Reenie without manipulative Pete around?

Hollyoaks airs these scenes tonight (July 8) at 7pm on E4 and tomorrow (July 9) at 6.30pm on Channel 4.
