The staff gather for a major incident briefing and are shocked when Henrik Hanssen makes an appearance as CEO. He rallies the troops, preparing them for an influx of casualties from a May Day march that has spiralled into a riot.

Soon afterwards, Guy is miffed when it becomes apparent that Hanssen has frozen his funding. He also locks horns with Hanssen over the treatment of 12-year old Isla, who is admitted with a suspected spinal cord injury.

Meanwhile, it's Oliver's first day back on Darwin and though Elliot is delighted, Jesse is less enthused. After his recent brush with death and a stint in a field hospital in Mexico, it's clear that Oliver's surgical and bedside skills are rusty.

Oliver doesn't see the need for niceties with colleagues or patients, but he'll need to engage with both in order to get through his first day back on Darwin.

Elsewhere, the major incident means that Fletch has a chance to catch up with Dixie, who brings in a cab driver named Mike. Though injured himself, Mike has been helping with the May Day march casualties. Fletch is under pressure to pay for a school excursion for Evie and though Raf offers to loan him the money, Fletch declines. When Mike tells Fletch about a sure-fire tip he has for the horses, Fletch finds it hard to resist.

What a fabulous episode last night. Great to see Henrik back and putting Mr Selfish in his place. Hopefully Olly will settle back into place too
