Real Housewives of Melbourne star Gina Liano has joined the cast of Neighbours.

The 47-year-old barrister will play Mary Smith, the adoptive mother of Paige (Olympia Valance) on the Australian soap.

Valance spoke about family friend Liano, saying: "People don't realise Housewives involved some acting as well. So, Gina does it every day.

"She's exactly what I imagine Paige's mum would be," she told TV Weekly.
