Voting for the British Soap Awards 2015 will open in a week's time.
The ceremony's bosses announced the news on the official British Soap Awards Twitter page this morning (March 23), confirming that there is just one week to go before the first stage of viewer voting begins.
WE CAN NOW REVEAL THAT LONG LIST VOTING FOR THE BRITISH SOAP AWARDS 2015 OPENS ONE WEEK FROM NOW..! RT #7DAYSTOGO #THESOAPAWARDSARECOMING
— British Soap Awards (@SoapAwards) March 23, 2015
Voting traditionally takes place in two stages, with soap fans initially having a chance to choose their favourites from the longlist. A second round later opens and sees the most popular nominees go head-to-head once the shortlist has been revealed.
As the biggest event in the soap calendar each year, the British Soap Awards are a mix of viewer-voted and panel-voted categories - rewarding the best performances, storylines and scenes from the past 12 months.
Coronation Street, EastEnders, Emmerdale, Hollyoaks and daytime soap Doctors are included each year.

Hollyoaks at the British Soap Awards 2014
Last year's event saw Hollyoaks claim the Best Soap title for the first time in the history of the awards, while Coronation Street also did well with a number of prizes for Hayley Cropper's cancer storyline.
The ceremony itself is expected to take place in Manchester in May.
The British Soap Awards are to undergo a surprise shake-up this year, with the Sexiest Male and Sexiest Female prizes axed.
The two categories have been present throughout the 16-year history of the awards, but will not be part of the 2015 ceremony.

Long-serving Sexiest Female winner Michelle Keegan
Sexiest Male and Sexiest Female were two of the awards voted for by viewers each year, alongside Best Actor, Best Actress, Villain of the Year and the coveted prize for Best British Soap.
Coronation Street's Michelle Keegan (Tina McIntyre) claimed the Sexiest Female prize for the sixth consecutive year in 2014, while Hollyoaks actor Danny Mac (Dodger Savage) was the most recent Sexiest Male victor. Both have since left their respective soaps.
While the 'sexy' categories have been dropped, 2015's ceremony will see the introduction of a brand new award, which will reward the best portrayal of issue-based storylines.

A British Soap Awards spokesperson told the Daily Star Sunday: "We've refreshed some of the voting categories to ensure the awards remain as relevant and popular as the soaps."
The British Soap Awards 2015 will take place in Manchester on Saturday, May 16 and will once again be a battle between Coronation Street, EastEnders, Emmerdale, Hollyoaks and daytime drama Doctors.
Longlist voting will open on Monday (March 30) via the British Soap Awards website. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Hosted by Phillip Schofield, the British Soap Awards are taking place in Manchester on Saturday, May 16 and will be broadcast on ITV on a date to be confirmed.
Who are going to be the judges?
There's good news for the EastEnders team today, as the show has received the most nominations on the shortlist for the British Soap Awards 2015.
The Walford drama has secured a total of 14 nods this year, compared with 13 for Coronation Street, 12 for Emmerdale, 11 for Hollyoaks and 10 for Doctors.
British Soap Awards bosses have given the annual ceremony a major shake-up this year, axing the Sexiest prizes and putting most of the categories in the hands of the judging panel rather than viewer votes. Only the Best British Soap category is judged entirely by the public this year.
The winner of the Best Actor and Best Actress categories is determined by a 50:50 split between the viewer votes and judge votes. The final shortlist of 5 nominees for both of these categories has now been revealed based on the first round of viewer voting and decisions from the panel.
The other categories, including Best Newcomer, Best Dramatic Performance and Best On-Screen Partnership, are all based on panel decisions alone.
This year's ceremony will take place at the Palace Theatre in Manchester on May 16 and will be hosted by Phillip Schofield, who is celebrating his 10th year fronting the event. The prizes will be presented by an array of well-known faces from across the TV and showbiz world.

I agree and also - just as important -imo -
is who "picked" the panel??
In a vaguely connected way- apparently the
BBC only notes criticism of the revamped
Archers on the radio -if they are the right
sort of listener!*
So perhaps in same way Soap Awards organisers
are concerned the wrong sort of viewer was having
too much influence!
**In my own defence -I would say Ive haven't
listened to Archers for ages. I was told this
by distant cousin who reads their forums/blogs
etc.!

ITV has confirmed the scheduling details for the British Soap Awards 2015 - the biggest night in the soap calendar.
This year's ceremony will be broadcast on Thursday, May 21 at 8pm in a two-hour timeslot.
Hosted by Phillip Schofield, the British Soap Awards reward the best performances and storylines from the past 12 months - with prizes including Best Actor, Best Actress, Villain of the Year and the coveted gong for Best Soap.
The event itself is taking place on Saturday, May 16 at the Palace Theatre in Manchester and will be pre-recorded by ITV. The awards will be presented by an array of well-known faces from across the TV and showbiz world.
The 2013 and 2014 ceremonies were broadcast just one day after recording, but this year there will be a longer gap before transmission.
EastEnders has topped the shortlist this year with a total of 14 nominations, but the other soaps are all following closely behind.
Voting for the viewer categories remains open via the British Soap Awards website.
Richard Blackwood is hoping to win votes for EastEnders at the British Soap Awards by posing shirtless.
The actor posted a picture of himself on Twitter with no shirt on, while holding a sign that asks fans of the soap to get voting ahead of Saturday's (May 16) ceremony. Has he persuaded you?
Blackwood recently joined the cast of the long-running soap as Vincent Hubbard.
He has praised the show's producer Dominic Treadwell-Collins for making his character such a villain, because it threw audiences thanks to his background in comedy.

Agree- dont think he qualifies as no redeeming
/ interesting qualities.
Hes a whining whinging g*t who thinks he's
fascinating and so should be forgiven all
fault cos hes just a" bit mixed-up".
With half way decent parents-his bluff
would have been called ages ago.
And thats apart from rapes- which put
him.in a different category to "soap
villian" imo!
P.S. Possibly wrong-but still think soap
hierarchy hoping to persuade viewers
hes redeemable!!!!!!
So wasnt nominated as "villian"- just
a poor boy who has had a couple of
lapses!

Perhaps I'm being overly optimistic here, but maybe he wasn't nominated because these awards glamorise villains and rape is something that's too distasteful to glamorise? I hope that's the case anyway!

I quite like watching Callum as a character http://www.picgifs.com/smileys/smileys-and-emoticons/sticking-tongue-out/smileys-sticking-tongue-out-995267.gif (http://www.picgifs.com/smileys/) although I obviously don't like his personality (if that makes sense). I wouldn't go as far as to say I love to hate him though (I like to dislike him? :D). He's obviously not in the league of classic Corrie villains like the compelling Tony Gordon.

I am very happy Adam won as Ian in Eastenders, is this his first time nominated for best actor, he has been on the show so long surprised if it was his first nomination
I am shocked Ian and Jane won best partnership, I was expecting Mick and Linda to be in contention, I would have given it to Sally and Tim from Corrie
It is a shame Emmerdale didn't pick up a few more

I agree and so would vast majority Im sure!
We have had rapists nominated as "villians"
before eg Andrew Lancel( Frank Foster) and
Larry Lamb(Archie Mitchell - also incest)
and I think they won! .But importantly
there was no attempt to show the character
sympathetically or other than a villian.
I think this rape story has got skewed somewhere
and hope it can be retrieved with some
believability SOON! Still dont know how tho.!
