At Gavin’s funeral, Michael’s ex-wife Susan tells Gail that she would like to bury the hatchet with him. Gail is forced to come up with a lie in order to put her off. Meanwhile, David is livid as Gail fails to show at the mediation session, prompting Callum to take advantage of his low mood and paint a grim picture of Max’s home life. Andy helps Gail to cover up her whereabouts. Bethany explains how unhappy she is in Italy and does her best to persuade Gail and Audrey to let her stay in Weatherfield. Michelle discovers that Steve has run up a huge tax bill after ignoring several warning letters. Promising to fix things, Steve appears calm as he tries to find a solution, but Michelle is stunned when he returns home and proposes to her out of the blue. Liz and Tony discuss whether he could help out with the money from the sale of Eva and Jason’s house, but decide to keep it from Steve. Kevin is taken aback when Jenny ends their relationship, worried that she will never be accepted by the locals. Refusing to accept the situation, Kevin visits Rita and persuades her to give them her blessing. Faye plans to give birth in secret, but Craig begs her to reconsider. Anna picks up on Faye’s mood, but fails to find out what is really wrong. Sean and Billy compete to recruit volunteer butlers for a charity auction.

Dressed in black for Gavin's funeral, Gail promises to meet David at the mediation. At the service, Gail and Andy pretend not to know each other. Gail hurries from the graveside hoping to make a quick exit but Barbara intercepts, insisting that she attends the wake to speak to Gavin's mother Susan, who is Michael's ex-wife.

Gail is horrified as Susan expresses a heartfelt wish to meet Michael and bury the hatchet, as well as telling him all about the years of Gavin's life that he missed.

Meanwhile, David is on edge when Gail fails to show at the mediation. With his mum in tow, Callum relishes David's anxiety. When the session gets under way, David's temper gets the better of him as Callum paints a grim picture of Max's life with the Platts, labelling Kylie a junkie. As incredulous David hurls insults at him in front of the mediator, will he play right into a smug Callum's hands?

Elsewhere, while having a clear-out at the pub, Michelle finds some unopened letters. Steve is riding high after completing his first airport run in ages but Michelle looks on troubled, revealing to Liz that Steve owes £10,700 in unpaid tax after ignoring months' worth of letters. Worried about setting back his recovery, will Michelle tell Steve?

Also, Kevin meets Jenny for lunch in the café and is stunned when she finishes with him. Jenny tells Kevin their relationship is doomed as Rita, Sally and others on the street will never accept them. Will Kevin take no for an answer?

Finally, Craig tries to get Faye to reconsider giving birth in secret without professionals on hand, while Bethany explains how unhappy she is with Sarah in Milan and asks Gail if she can stay in Weatherfield.

Flustered Gail tells Susan that the stress of meeting her would be too much for Michael's heart. Susan is disappointed and Gail feels awful for lying.

Later, David confronts Gail when she returns home and furiously accuses her of letting him down. Gail is lost for words as he demands a reason for her absence, so Andy lies that he had a suspected heart scare and Gail took him to hospital. David is mollified and agrees not to tell Michael so as not to worry him. When Michael arrives back, will he sense the tension after Gail's day from hell?

Meanwhile, Liz checks with the tax office and confirms that the bill is correct. Michelle then breaks the news to Steve. Mortified, he admits that he hid the letters away at the height of his problems and forgot about them. Michelle is worried when guilt-ridden Steve promises to fix things.

Elsewhere, Kevin implores Rita to give him and Jenny her blessing, or he risks losing her. Not wanting to ruin his chance of happiness, Rita magnanimously wishes him well. As Jenny plays with Jack at Number 13, Kevin begs her not to give up on them. With Jenny's gaze drawn to Jack, will she back down?

Also, Craig presents Faye with a pregnancy book and orders her to make some firm decisions about the birth. When Anna tackles her about her low mood, will Faye open up to her mum?

Finally, Bethany tries to butter up Gail into letting her stay.

Steve goes through the pub paperwork and looks for a solution to his financial worries. Michelle is impressed by his calm and practical reaction, but when we see Steve bulk-buying discount toilet rolls in a bid to save money, we sense he's not handling it so well.

Later, Liz confides in Tony that they could lose The Rovers. Tony reveals that he has just sold the house he bought for Eva and Jason and could use the proceeds to pay Steve's tax bill. They agree not to tell Steve until the funds become available.

When Steve arrives home with the loo rolls, Michelle is stunned as he proposes marriage. With the timing all wrong, will Michelle accept or let Steve down gently?

Meanwhile, determined to put Bethany to work, Gail takes her to the salon to help Audrey. Audrey is sympathetic as Bethany pours her heart out about her miserable life in Italy. Audrey sings Bethany's praises to Gail and explains that she is really unhappy in Milan. Will Gail be moved or is Bethany still on the next plane home?

Elsewhere, Faye remembers Tim's old flat over the corner shop and suggests to Craig that she could give birth there if it's still unoccupied. In the corner shop, Faye distracts Sophie while Craig steals the key from behind the counter so they can inspect the flat.

Also today, Sean puts up posters for Billy's charity butler auction. Sean and Billy compete to recruit volunteer butlers for the auction.
