View Full Version : Shayne Ward (Aidan Connor)
he is to join according to daily star
Good if true. I voted for him on x factor
Is Shayne Ward heading to Corrie?
It’s been reported that singer and actor Shayne Ward could be joining the cast of Coronation Street.
The soap’s producers have apparently approached Shayne’s management company hoping to sign up the star, who rose to fame when he won The X Factor in 2005.
A show source told the Daily Star Sunday: “The bosses think Shayne would be perfect for the show. They’ve made moves to try and get him on board and have made it clear they are open to discussions.”
Manchester-born Shayne, 30, is close friends with a number of Corrie stars, including Samia Ghadie, who plays Maria, and Hayley Tamaddon, who plays Andrea Beckett, and it’s been reported that he’s such a big fan of the show that he would jump at the chance if he was offered a role in the Weatherfield soap, which regularly attracts an audience of seven million viewers.
“He’s made it clear he’s definitely interested,” the source told the newspaper. ”Talks are ongoing at this stage. They were keen to find out if Shayne would be up for going into TV acting full-time. Nothing is confirmed at this point but it is looking hopeful.”
After winning the ITV singing contest in 2005, Shayne had chart success with singles, including the Christmas Number 1 That’s My Goal which was the Christmas Number 1 of the same year. After clocking up three million record sales in the last ten years, he is due to release his fourth album, Closer, next month. As well as his singing career, Shayne has enjoyed a stint on the West End stage in London.
He had a leading role in hit show Rock of Ages and starred in a touring production of Jeff Wayne’s War of the Worlds alongside Jason Donovan and Brian McFadden.
The news that Shayne could be heading to the Weatherfield cobbles comes on the tail of a string of famous faces joining the soap, most recently Waterloo Road actress Melanie Hill, former Emmerdale star Claire King and comedian Les Dennis.
Pure speculation still, I think
a brother for callum is the talk on twitter for his role
Shayne Ward has revealed that he recently auditioned for a role in Coronation Street.
The singer - who can be seen at the West End on shows such as Rock of Ages and The War of the World - attended the audition just a few days ago.

"I was asked about the rumours and I had no idea, that's the gospel truth," he told the Daily Mirror.
"Before we knew it, an audition did come in. I couldn't believe it and neither could my management. I thought it was incredible, I'm a massive fan of the show and my mum is a huge fan.
"I think for me it's just to be associated with it, especially Stuart Blackburn the producer, for him to sit in on the casting, I was over the moon."
The 30-year-old said that he hopes to be able to play a bad boy "because of the tattoos".
He also congratulated Sarah Harding for joining the soap: "I think she'll be brilliant."
Whose sarah harding? Anyway good news if he can act as good as he sings. Definately has to be related to Callum
Shayne Ward has played down recent claims that he could be playing Sarah Harding's on-screen husband in Coronation Street.
The X Factor winner is in the running to play a new character after attending an audition for the ITV soap earlier this month.

However, Ward has admitted that he doesn't know what role he would be playing if his audition turns out to be successful
Ward told the Manchester Evening News: "I've got everything crossed over joining the show, can you imagine?
"Sarah is going to be in the show and I have known her since I was 15 or 16. Because I came in for a casting and she has been given this role I think that's where the talk that I would play her husband came from.
"There is no truth in it. I don't even know which role I would be playing. Stuart Blackburn the producer wanted to see me and I read through a script."

It's official - Coronation Street bosses have confirmed that X Factor winner Shayne Ward is joining the soap's cast as a new regular.
The singer and actor will be playing the role of Aidan Connor, a distant cousin of established character Michelle (Kym Marsh).
Aidan grew up on the same estate as Michelle and Carla when they were younger. He arrives in Weatherfield in August after hearing that Carla is having some problems at Underworld.
Ward has signed a one-year contract with Coronation Street and show producers have big plans for his character, as they will also be introducing Aidan's father and sister in the coming months.
The arrival of Aidan has been tipped to "set female hearts fluttering" on the cobbles, but he doesn't get a warm welcome from everyone as he quickly makes an enemy of Tracy Barlow's ex-husband Robert Preston (Tristan Gemmill).
Speaking of his casting, Ward commented: "On hearing the news I had been offered the part on the show, I was in total disbelief. It still hasn't sunk in. Shayne Ward the lad from Manchester, given such a role on such an iconic show - it is an absolute dream come true. I'm excited to walk down those famous cobbles.
"My family and friends know just how much this means to me and I cannot wait to do them all proud. 2015 has been a great year for me so far and I look forward to joining the Coronation Street family."
Coronation Street's producer Stuart Blackburn added: "When Shayne came in and auditioned, we knew he was up against some very stiff competition. But he blew us away from the very get-go, delivering a charm and a swagger that is perfect for the character. I can't wait to see him in action!"
Ward won The X Factor in 2005. Along with his music career, he has enjoyed stage roles in Rock of Ages and War of the Worlds.
The 30-year-old first confirmed that he had auditioned for Corrie early last month.
Women of Weatherfield watch out - there is a new Connor in town and he means business.
Aidan Connor is a distant cousin of Michelle and grew up on the same estate as her and Carla. He turns up in Coronation Street in August after hearing that Carla is having problems at the factory.
Aidan will be played by singer turned actor Shayne Ward who starts filming in the role next month.
Good looking and charming, Aidan’s arrival will set female hearts fluttering - but he’s no pushover and quickly makes an enemy of Tracy Barlow’s ex hubbie Robert Preston, played by Tristan Gemmill.
Manchester born Shayne received a nomination at the 2012 What's On Stage Awards for his role in Rock of Ages in the West End, and appeared in Jeff Wayne’s Stage version of War of the Worlds. He has signed a one year contract with Coronation Street.
Aidan is just the first of the new Connor clan to arrive in Weatherfield and will be followed in the coming months by his dad and sister.
Like Shayne, Aidan is from Manchester and has an extended family over in Ireland.
Stuart Blackburn said:
"When Shayne came in and auditioned we knew he was up against some very stiff competition. But he blew us away from the very get go delivering a charm and a swagger that is perfect for the character. I can't wait to see him in action!"

Shayne Ward has revealed that his role on the cobbles is bigger than he expected.
The singer and actor was announced as new regular character Aidan Connor, a distant cousin of established character Michelle (Kym Marsh), back in May.
Ward told the Manchester Evening News: "I am looking forward to August when my first scene is aired.
"I'm going to focus on this role and bring Aidan to life."
He added: "I didn't realise how large this role was, storyline-wise. There is a lot going on without a doubt.
"I am going to work hard, especially with the role I have been given and the storylines, which are much bigger than I expected."
Away from Weatherfield, Ward premiered the music video for his new single 'The Way You Were' last month.
Coronation Street newcomer Aidan Connor will reveal that he plans to invest in the Underworld business upon his arrival in Weatherfield.
Carla (Alison King) will be forced to sell the factory after she loses all her money in a Las Vegas casino as her gambling problems escalate.

Shayne Ward will play Aidan Connor
Show boss Stuart Blackburn has already hinted that Carla's troubles will pave the way for Aidan's arrival, but more details have now been revealed.
Viewers have recently seen Carla (Alison King) turn to gambling to ease her guilt over the fire in her flat that killed Kal Nazir and Maddie Heath.
The Daily Star reports that Carla's worrying habit will increase over the coming weeks as she heads out of the country and blows all her money, leaving her with no alternative other than selling up.
As Carla considers leaving Weatherfield, word about the factory being up for sale starts to spread, prompting a bidding war among the locals. However, they are all trumped when Aidan arrives and announces that he plans to invest in the business.
Speaking about the plot, Blackburn said recently: "Carla wrongly believes that she is responsible for the deaths of Kal and Maddie and that takes her into a really dark place - she is very troubled. She starts gambling and ends up spending not only her money, but the factory's as well.
"Carla's troubles pave the way for Shayne Ward's character Aidan Connor to arrive. He will come in and, we hope, rescue the factory, which really is on its last legs."
Former X Factor champ Shayne Ward makes his debut in the soap world next week, taking on the role of Coronation Street newcomer Aidan Connor.
Aidan is a distant relative of established regular Michelle, who is called to Weatherfield to help Carla as her personal and business problems go from bad to worse.
When Aidan arrives on the Street, he offers to invest in the factory and goes all-out to convince Carla to do a deal with him. Will she be tempted to go into business with him?
Here, Shayne reveals what Corrie fans can expect from his character and how he feels about moving into soapland.
What can you tell us about Aidan?
"Aidan Connor is a distant relative of Michelle Connor. He's Mancunian-Irish, which just fits like a glove for me because I am too! Aidan was brought up on the same estate as all of the Connors.
"Carla is having a few problems with her personal life and the factory at the minute, so Aidan receives a secret phone call from Michelle to come back and see what's going on."
How did your involvement in the show come about?
"When rumours first came out that I was joining Coronation Street, I didn't have a bloody clue. I even asked my management and they didn't know anything about it either. A couple of hours later I twigged that maybe it was something to do with Corrie having Sean Ward in the show playing Callum. I was just quite happy to be associated with it, to be honest!
"A couple of days later, I received an email saying that Corrie wanted to see me for a casting. I thought, 'Oh God, okay!' So now they've got Sean Ward and Shayne Ward! It was absolutely crazy how it just came about, but thank God it did."
What was your first day on set like?
"I think the first day in anything is always really nerve-wracking, but I always manage to hide it very well! I didn't know how I was going to be, but what I liked about it was that it was really relaxed and everyone was really chilled. There was no pressure.
"I'd done acting work before in Rock of Ages and War of the Worlds. Those were live stage shows, where you only get one pass at it and you can't go back after messing up a line, so that's one big difference from Corrie."
Were you a fan of the show anyway?
"I'm a massive soap fan in general to be honest - but definitely Corrie without a doubt. It's an absolute dream come true. I never thought I'd ever be in Coronation Street. To now be here in quite a big part is just mind-boggling!"
Is Aidan a good guy or a bad guy?
"Aidan is a nice guy - he's got charisma and he's got charm. At the same time, if you cross a Connor, they'll come together as a family unit and fight back. You don't want to cross them! So Aidan is that type of character and it's going to be fun to see if I do become a little bit nasty."
What kind of a response does Aidan get when he arrives?
"Aidan is somebody that the other characters haven't seen for quite some time, but they know that when he arrives, he'll provide a fresh approach to get Carla out of everything she's going through. I think his arrival will be a good thing. It's been a while since you've had a Connor boy come in, so I think it's about time they had some fresh meat.
"When Aidan was growing up, he saw Carla as someone who could always look after herself. It's not nice for him to now see her losing everything right in front of his eyes, so he's willing to help in any way that he can. That will include having some dealings with the factory and he's very ambitious."
Will there be a love interest for Aidan?
"I hope so! It'd be nice to have a love interest but I think it would have to be somebody new. When you think about it, Carla's in the family, Michelle's in the family and Maria was married into the family. When you put all of them aside, who else have we got? Let's get someone new in!"
Can you see your character having run-ins with other characters?
"Definitely. He's the new guy on the block, so everyone's probably going to be thinking, 'Who does he think he is?' I'm looking forward to having run-ins with some familiar faces. I think everyone will feel my wrath in that factory! Carla is also a powerful and hard woman, so there's no doubt about it that I'll be having back and forth arguments with her. It'll be a case of finding out who the dominant one is."
Is there anybody who you've really clicked with on the Street so far?
"Definitely Ali King who plays Carla. We've already clicked and we're going to be doing a lot of scenes together, which will be great. I've already known Kym Marsh for a couple of years and she's fantastic too. She's been in Corrie for 9 years and has just signed for another year. It just shows that it is possible to do well in the show when you're known for something else. You can be instantly pigeon-holed - and I know I will be as well - when you're a singer going into the acting world.
"But I love the challenge and it just shows that Kym has done an incredible job after being here for so long."
Are you hoping to carry on your music as well as acting?
"Of course! I'm 30 and I feel I can do both, but I know at the weekend I'll be absolutely knackered! My latest album is out, so it's just striking the right balance. It's been over four years since I had my last album out before this. I would hate to just close the door on it, because then there was no point in me even making that album. I'm very proud of it."
How have your fans reacted to the Corrie news? Are they surprised?
"Fans find out stuff before I do, so they were messaging me about it before it had even been announced! They've responded to it brilliantly. I had to keep it so tight-lipped for quite a while, which was one of the hardest things. But obviously I told my mum and other members of my immediate family."
How do you think Corrie will affect things for you in terms of recognition?
"I think it'll be different from anything else that I've experienced before, because I'm going to be on screen four or five times a week. I don't know how I'm going to feel about that. I'm ready for it, I just have to brace myself I guess!
"Before joining, I already knew people like Hayley Tamaddon and Samia Ghadie. It's quite funny when you hear stories from them about how people have believed certain storylines that go on. Sometimes people even shout abuse at them or say 'How could you do this?!' Bloody hell, I can't wait for that!"
Have you joined for a definite period of time?
"I've signed for a year and I guess it's down to general public as to whether I stay after that. If they fall in love with the character, if it's going well and the storylines work, then I would absolutely love to stay. I'd be a fool to say that I want to leave - I'd jump at the chance to stay."
Are you nervous that there's sometimes a stigma when you go from singing into acting?
"No, I've had years to deal with that. I am nervous about joining the show in general, but I think it's always good to have a few nerves to add into your performance. In terms of being pigeon-holed and then doing something different, it would have been perceived the same way when I went from winning The X Factor to playing an American rock star in Rock of Ages and then going to play the Artilleryman in War of the Worlds.
"It's one of those things where I can use it as my strength and say, 'Well do you know what? I'll prove you wrong'. It helps in that sense."
What was more nerve-wracking - performing in front of Simon Cowell or your first day on Corrie?
"God, both were different kinds of nerves. I was 21 on the very first X Factor live show. I was singing in front of Sharon, Louis and Simon with millions at home watching. I remember thinking, 'Don't mess up, don't mess up. Just sing the song as best you can'.
"It's a really hard one to answer because they're both really different, but Corrie feels really chilled. I'm probably going to jinx myself, but I'm surprised I'm not as nervous as I thought I'd be!"
When did your interest in acting develop?
"It was always there, to be honest. Even when I was doing music videos and had people giving me direction, I could take it very well and I often said that I'd love to do proper acting. Doing Rock of Ages got the bug in me, but it was always there. I believe everything happens for a reason so I guess I was waiting for this moment to happen."
Will you be keeping an eye on Twitter to see the reaction when you make your debut?
"It's my Twitter and it's not run by management, so I'll always be on it and I'll spend as much time as possible with the fans. Not everyone's going to like what you do, but that's the minority. It'll be nice to see nice messages from the majority of people."
So you won't be drawn into any Twitter spats?
"Oh God, no! I love the power of the block button. If I don't say something, the fans do on my behalf, so I just leave them to it to be honest! If I do say something bad, Corrie will tell me off, so I'm going to be a good boy and just rely on the power of block! (Laughs.) 9 times out of 10, it's best to bite your tongue."

Fair play I thought he did really well on his 1st episode, I don't really rate ' celebs ' when they do a stint in a soap, but he impressed me.
I thought he was good. I like the fact that he has a proper manchester accent.

Coronation Street boss: Shayne’s stuck two fingers up to the critics
Coronation Street boss Stuart Blackburn has defended Shayne Ward against criticism that he was hired because he’s famous.
The former popstar has joined the soap as Aidan Connor, a move some in the media have described as an act of desperation on Stuart’s part in order to boost ratings. But the soap’s top boss says Shayne more than deserves his place on the cobbles and in his opinion is getting better and better by the day.
Stuart told the Sun: "Shayne is doing amazingly. From day one, that guy has been the first person on set and the last person to leave.
“He came in knowing that he’s got a lot to learn, and every single day he’s getting better and better. “There were so many people going: ’Oh, you’re just getting someone famous,’ but it feels like he’s been here forever, and it’s always good to be able to put two fingers up at the critics and go: ’Ah, boo!’ because he’s really great."
I think he is ok although i think he looks unconfortable in what he wears
what are the writers doing to him with stupid storylines about socks pens and shoes he can do more
what are the writers doing to him with stupid storylines about socks pens and shoes he can do more
No doubt be'll be doing Eva soon... :p :ninja: :o
Whatever was was he wearing last night? A white coat with black buttons and big lapels. Perhaps he borrowed it from Eva.
His clothes always look badly fitted. He is a bit overweight but they insist on making him look unconfortable the shirts look tight as if the buttons are going to pop. Let him wear the right size folks we cannot all be a slim fit. I did not like the way he was looking at Eva very off putting. Can they just make him act normal
I did not like the way he was looking at Eva very off putting.
He comes across like a bit of a sleaze when he's eyeing up Eva.
I find it quite amusing to see them all dressed up in their glad rags in the Bistro and wonder how they can afford all that they do, meals out, champagne, wine, posh clothes, hair dos and make up and most of them on minimum wage . Eva or instance . She looked as though she had stepped out of a fashion mag. There aren't many people nowadays that can afford all that pampering , never mind that this lot live in a back street in Manchester .
I watched a You Tube of "old " Corrie with Vera and Jack and oh, it was so enjoyable . Then there is Hylda with her rollers in , a far cry from "designer" Corrie. Loved Hylda and Stan and loved her singing when she was cleaning the pub.
Just where do they get all their money from ? What's changed ? Times, I suppose but they still don't earn enough to do all that they do.
Every soap nowadays portrays characters who earn minimum wage living well beyond their means. How can those characters afford to eat out most days (even just in cafes) and drink in the pub regularly, let alone wear designer clothes etc?
Then there's Tyrone, who's part owner of a busy garage, getting into serious debt by paying for a wasted holiday in Lapland (when in reality he could almost certainly have recouped a good proportion of the money by selling it on eBay) and decorating the street for a day. Also, there's no way it would be worth Fiz working a low paid job and paying childcare for two kids. Plus it seems unlikely to me that David and Kylie could afford their mortgage.
You're right Louise that the soaps used to make an effort to portray their less well off characters realistically and unglamorously. However, realism was long ago abandoned.

I agree Dazzle and Louise P with what you have
both said.
What concerns me apart from lack of realism-
is that in people who have no idea of money
planning or supportive family - it encourages
some people to think they should be entitled
to have things/do things they dont have enough
money for and get into debt. It takes a lot longer
ti get out of debt than into it.
Soaps pride themselves on showing " gritty"
subjects - serious illnesses and crimes etc.
Perhaps some time on the drudgery of
debt -but no because thats boring!!

I think a lot of people spend more than their means now and corrie probably reflects that. How mean of Aidan s sister to talk of the bet and ruin a relationship. Not keen on his sister a bit of an idiot. But from spoilers it seems they will get their relationship back on track.
Carla needs to get a drip put on it would rest her arms. Getting a bit boring this whole drunk thing. The only interesting drunk on corrie was Peter.

I agree, I'm not fond of her either. Although Aidan was just as guilty of making the bet, at least he had the grace to look ashamed about it. Kate just found the whole thing amusing, and was completely oblivious to Eva's hurt feelings.
Aidan's the only one of the new Connors I'm finding tolerable at the moment.

For having been that drunk that Carla and Robert forgot about morals both appeared extremely sober as soon as the dirty deed was done .. but then they always are in soaps, staggering around one minute, being clear and level headed again the next :wall: :p And so far I have not seen anything that makes me like Aidan´s sister either, I agree with Dazzle, Aidan is currently the only one I have time for.

I found Shayne as Aidan very believable in his scenes of anger and upset at his father Johnny
Corrie star Shayne Ward has hinted that there could be more Connor bombshells on the way.
The family have recently been torn apart by the revelation that Johnny is Carla's father, but Ward doesn't think that is the only secret from their past.
Speaking to the Daily Star, the actor, who plays Aidan, said: "They definitely have more skeletons in their closet. There's no way that's the only secret in their family, it's too crazy for that to be it.
"I can't wait to see what happens there. There will be more dramas. I've loved working with Stuart Blackburn and he was a big part of my casting so I've loved what we've done so far."
Ward also addressed his excitement about Kate Oates coming into the show as producer, taking over from Stuart Blackburn, who is currently in charge.
He said: "Kate Oates coming in will be exciting and I know she'll have some brilliant ideas.
"I watch all the other soaps and I always watch Emmerdale so I have seen some of the really gritty storylines that she's done.
"I think it will be a nice little shake-up and I know everyone is pretty excited for the drama she will bring."
Ward previously revealed that his character Aidan would strike up a strong bond with his half-sister Carla.

He did get best newcomer so they would be daft not to
Corrie twist! Eva could turn into a bunny boiler
Coronation Street star Shayne Ward has said there could be a twist in his upcoming love triangle plot – Eva Price could turn into a bunny boiler.
We already know that Aidan will betray Eva by having a one-night stand with her friend Maria next week. What we don't know, however, is how Eva will react in the aftermath.
While it could be a while until Eva discovers the truth, she will realise something is up with her nervous boyfriend and will begin searching for answers – and now Shayne Ward hinted it could all get a bit Fatal Attraction if Aidan's not careful.
"Aidan should stay indoors for the next few months!" Shayne told Inside Soap.
"He's trying to cover his tracks after sleeping with Maria, but it's going to get heated. Eva knows something is up – and when she blows, she can be a bunny boiler."
But Shayne also said he's really enjoying being part of the storyline...
"I'm having such a great laugh, and we can't wait to find out how the viewers will react.
"Aidan's really into Eva, even though he won't admit it – but he realises there are certain qualities about Maria he likes, too. He just can't go there!"
Coronation Street star Shayne Ward has signed a new contract to stay on the show for another year.
According to the Daily Star, the Aidan Connor star is now contracted to appear until late 2017.
Shayne's initial 2015 contract signed him on for a year, though he has proved popular on the ITV soap and has been on extended stay.
"I've just signed another year," he told the paper. "It was amazing to get that. If you keep the writers excited then they're going to keep writing for you.
"When I joined I didn't know how long I was going to last. You never know if the public are going to like you.
"And even now you think they could say, 'Thank you and you've been great but we feel like we've come to the end of the stories for your character'."
Shayne originally rose to fame as a winner of The X Factor, and has already topped off a great year on Corrie with the news that he is to become a dad.
Shayne and Hollyoaks star Sophie Austin announced the pregnancy in August, writing on Twitter: "After much speculation I'm over joyed to announce that @sophieaustin1 and I are expecting our first child. #Blessed."
The pair got together a few months ago, following Sophie's split from husband Graeme Rooney.

I hadn't heard about that! :o
Ricky Norton was suspended but he was working at EE when the tape was made. I'm not sure if Leslie Grantham was fired but he left shortly afterwards (he actually did it in his EE dressing room though - and badmouthed his co-stars to boot!). The Shayne Ward tape was apparently made a couple of years ago so I don't know if Corrie will take any action since he's not hurting anyone or doing anything illegal.

His popularity (which I personally can't understand :p) shouldn't make a difference, although I'm sure it does no matter how hard people try to be unbiased.
What I think would make the most difference is how much bad publicity an actor brings to the show. Since there really hasn't been much in this case (celebrities caught on camera in compromising positions are ten-a-penny these days after all), I can't see there being any consequences for Shayne from Corrie.

Aidan hires a hotshot solicitor to take on Maria's case but in doing so is Aidan dangerously putting his business and family on the line for Maria?
Later, Aidan visits some old contacts in the hope of drumming up business... But he suddenly spots a familiar face working in the back!
It's Caz! Clocking Aidan, Caz does a runner through the fire exit but will this be the evidence he needs to free Maria?

t's Coronation Street's ticking timebomb, but Aidan Connor's fling with Maria could be exposed in the New Year when someone discovers their secret.
Aidan (Shayne Ward) had a one-night stand with Maria earlier in the year, and upcoming scenes will see him attempt to start a full blown affair with her.
As the pair continue to battle with their feelings for each other – as well as their loyalty to Aidan's girlfriend Eva – the story will continue to unravel over the festive season.
But it seems that the biggest twist of all will come in the New Year when Jenny Bradley discovers their betrayal.
Jenny, who's currently in a relationship with Aidan's dad Johnny, will continue to establish herself as queen bee at Underworld. But her incriminating finding will leave her in an impossible dilemma,
Jenny will be shocked to discover exactly what Aidan has been up to, but what she does next remains to be seen.
Is Aidan's secret fling with Maria about to be exposed? And how will Eva react if it is?

She's certainly an unlikeable person that I'd steer well clear of in real life, but I think she makes a pretty good bitchy character.
Let me put it this way, if I was forced to choose one bitch - Jenny or Tracy - I'd go for Jenny every time. Tracy is not only unlikeable, she's also totally unconvincing. Kate Ford is good at delivering witty lines so they should have Tracy stick to doing that in my opinion.

But at least Tracy is known as a villian and is confronted about it , whereas jenny isn't called out by anyone on the show.

If we compare what they've both got away with, Tracy's left many victims in her wake (including dead ones!) without it costing her anything long term while Jenny's got away with being unlikeable and devious. They're both prone to making bitchy comments that people barely bat an eyelid at. Let's face it, neither would have any friends in real life. :p
But just in a general sense I'd prefer to watch Jenny than Tracy because the latter's so badly acted.
Coronation Street Christmas spoilers: Aidan Connor confesses his love for Maria and decides to dump Eva Price
They can resist each other no longer – Aidan and Maria Connor are back on this Christmas and, as Aidan makes a declaration of love, he decides that the time is right to call things off with Eva Price. But will he go through with breaking his girlfriend’s heart?
After things go wrong between Maria and Adam Barlow, Adam makes cruel remarks about Maria which prompts Aidan to show his feelings as he angrily punches him. As Maria witnesses this, Beth explains to her that Aidan was defending her honour and Maria is touched by his actions.
As Aidan and Maria return to the flat, Aidan gazes into her eyes and tells her that he is in love with her.
Meanwhile, Eva is proud of Aidan when she learns that he stood up for Maria and he feels guilty as he continues to lie to her.
Aidan arranges to meet up with Maria and promises her that he is going to finish with Eva and delighted, Maria shares a passionate kiss with him.
However, Johnny catches them and confronts Aidan over his actions, reminding him that Eva worships the ground that he walks on.
Aidan has a decision to make – but where will his heart take him?

I hope maria goes to jail for the sham marriage as soon as she and Aiden get together. KARMA!
Coronation Street could be lining up an explosive affair reveal when Leanne Battersby catches Aidan Connor cheating on her sister Eva Price.
Aidan has recently reignited his scandalous affair with Maria, despite the fact that he's in a relationship with her friend Eva.
Aidan has always made it clear that he doesn't intend on leaving Eva for Maria, but the decision might be taken out of his hands when the cheating duo are caught out in an upcoming episode.
Pictures taken of upcoming scenes being filmed show Aidan and Maria leaving a fancy hotel outside Weatherfield, oblivious to the fact that a suspicious Leanne is watching them.

But if being spotted by Leanne wasn't bad enough, Catherine Tyldesley – who plays Eva – was also spotted filming at the location shoot – meaning that Eva could catch them in the act as well.
It's not clear if Eva does discover the affair first hand, or whether Leanne tells her what she appears to have seen. But either way, it certainly sets the scene for some serious fireworks because the truth has surely got to come out after this latest twist.
Catherine previously teased that the storyline – which initially kicked off last year – would run all the way through to the spring, hinting at some explosive scenes when the truth finally comes out.

Coronation Street is set to bid farewell to Shayne Ward after three years in the soap.
Ward will step away from his role as heartthrob Aidan Connor in the late spring of 2018 when his current contract expires, an insider revealed to Digital Spy on Wednesday (November 29).
Ward made headlines for extending his contract with the ITV soap back in October 2016 in a deal that ensures that he will remain on screen for at least the next six months.
The X Factor winner first tread the cobbles back in August 2015, instantly creating a buzz with Corrie's passionate fan-base for his unique fashion sense and intriguing connection to both Michelle (Kym Marsh) and Carla Connor (Alison King).
At the time, he described the experience of auditioning for TV staple Coronation Street as one of the most "incredible" moments of his entire professional life.
"I'm a massive fan of the show and my mum is a huge fan," he said. "I think for me it's just to be associated with it, especially Stuart Blackburn the producer, for him to sit in on the casting, I was over the moon."
In more recent times, his character Aidan Connor has been torn between Eva Price (Catherine Tyldesley) and Maria Connor (Samia Longchambon), while the actor himself got fans talking when he refused to appear shirtless on-screen.
"I'm happy just being in the factory with my shirt on. I'm just not into that whole six-pack thing," he explained this past spring. "I think there is so much pressure to get in shape nowadays. I am just happy doing what I'm doing."
Coronation Street is also preparing viewers for two more major exits, first Bruno Langley's sudden departure as Todd Grimshaw in the coming weeks. Debbie Rush is also set to quit her role as Anna Windass after ten years in 2018.

Coronation Street seem to be lining up a new romance in coming months as Shayne Ward and Helen Flanagan have been filming scenes at a swanky restaurant. And we reckon that Aidan Connor isn’t all that interested in Rosie Webster’s eye for business…
Aidan and Rosie have crossed paths a couple of times – not always as allies – but they seemingly could be set for romance as they apparently grow closer. At the moment, Aidan is busy moving on from his ex Eva Price, completely unaware that he could be thrown right back into her life as she is carrying his baby.
That’s if Toyah Battersby doesn’t persuade the unsure barmaid to hand the baby over to her and Peter Barlow, that is. Meanwhile, Aidan is getting Underworld back on its feet in the wake of Carla’s return and he could also end up being a match for her as she desperately needs a new kidney after collapsing.
A busy time – business is on the up, he could be a saviour to his sister and now a potential new romance; what could possibly go wrong?
Little is known about how Aidan and Rosie will find themselves on each others’ radar but the stars were wrapped up warm and smiling broadly as they filmed scenes on location. Could this give both characters something to smile about?
Of course, it wouldn’t be a day on planet Earth if Helen didn’t find time for a few selfies so between takes, she was mastering that pout and snapping a few shots to remember the day by.
It remains to be seen whether happiness is on the horizon for the pair but we won’t be suggesting any eternity rings for them quite yet given that Shayne is departing his role as Aidan in the summer while Helen is heading off on maternity leave.
Another exit is that of Catherine Tyldesley, who plays Eva – she is also expected to depart in the summer time. So what kind of drama takes place between the trio between now and then that will see them all wave goodbye to the cobbles?
Could Aidan and Eva reunite and head off into the sunset, leaving a heartbroken Rosie to shuffle off and lick her wounds? Or are there more twists in store?
Fans can expect Rosie and Aidan’s scenes to hit their screens in March.

Is this a ploy to get at Adam as she works for him?
i think he could die after donating a kidney to carla, complications and eva will want to keep his child then
I'm not sure if they'll do a storyline where a character dies after donating a kidney - it could put people off donating organs in real life.

Already been done. Samir Rachid, Deridre's husband died after donating a kidney to Tracy ...
Apparently that was the original plan but the writers changed it in case it put people off donating. Samir was killed by racist thugs on his way to the hospital to be tested and after he died his kidney was donated to Tracy.

Aidan seeming determined to donate his kidney to prevent Kate from having to do it will probably suffice to give Eva a change of heart.
That or the deal will be off when Peter finds out.

He said it was because he had used his address for his own credit card statement.........but was that the real reason?
I don't think so because Aidan said, "I'll give it to him," which made it look as though the postman knew that the item wasn't for him.
If the postman didn't know any of them, surely he could just have taken the mail without a word, or "Anything for number x?"

He did say something like "anything for number x" to the postmas. It was Kate he gave the story about the credit card to, when she asked him why he had taken Johnny's letters.
Just had a look on the ITV Hub. "Don't suppose you've got owt for the old fella?" Charming! So it was definitely Johnny's post he took. If a credit card really is involved then there could be an identity fraud storyline.
There was a handwritten one at the end that seemed to get the focus.
Guess he'd have said less to the postman if he wasn't edgy over something.

Just seen this on Digital Spy:
Shayne Ward, who plays Aidan, will soon be leaving the cobbles after filming his final scenes last month.
The popular star has already hinted that his departure will tie in with the dramas Aidan has faced over the past year.
Speaking on ITV's Lorraine last week, he explained: "You've got to look at everything that Aidan's been through. He is a troubled soul and he's always been trying to prove himself to his dad, his family, but things keep on going wrong for him.
"His relationship didn't go the way he wanted to. He did cheat, he did come clean.
"He gave Carla one of his kidneys. So there is love with Aidan, but there's obviously something underlying."
That does not sound like he will be killed by Phelan .. maybe he is terminally ill but has not told anyone and wants to make up for his mistakes in his life before he dies...
I'm really intrigued by what his exit storyline will be. I don't think he has a terminal illness as he probably wouldn't have been allowed to donate a kidney to Carla if he was ill or had any health conditions.
That’s what i thought too.
Coronation Street is to highlight the important issue of male suicide when Aidan Connor tragically takes his own life.
In episodes to be screened the week of May 7th viewers will hear that Johnny Connor has discovered his son’s body at his Victoria Street flat, after Aidan failed to turn up for work at the factory.
As the news of what Aidan has done spreads, his devastated family and friends try to come to terms with the shock of their loss and begin to question why they hadn’t spotted any signs that he was struggling to cope with life.
Viewers will last see Aidan on screen on Monday 7th May when he goes to see Eva at the cottage where she is living after giving birth to baby Susie, before returning to a family party at the Rovers. His final scene will see him back at his flat alone. No element of the suicide will be shown on screen.

I hope it is handled well, I am not looking forward to it but hope perhaps the writers do a flashback episode to when his depression was triggered if that is possible because until he started the kidney donation process no signs of unhappiness
Shayne was on This Morning and explained that there have been signs of his depression for a while and that he as Aidan wanted to die before Carla returned. The letter to Johnny that he intercepted was in fact his suicide note. Aidan never felt good enough and saw his chance to redeem himself by donating his kidney to Carla which put his suicide on hold for a bit but now you know how he is leaving, it is clear that there were other signs recently, his chat to Kirk and giving Summer her work experience ...
I think Corrie have handled the very emotional and divisive storylines they have shown recently with utter professionalism and sensitivity .. grooming, Kylie's death, David's rape etc. I am sure they will also show the aftermath of Aidan's death (nothing of suicide will be shown) for his family and friends with the same competence and dignity

I thought having a daughter would make him change his mind too. It's so sad, considering there are so many people who love him and who will miss him terribly.

I guess he does not want to upset Toyah and fight for the baby .. he could not cope with all that :(

According to kate Oates knowing he has a daughter didn’t make a difference because he believed he couldn’t be good enough for her

I know it’s only a show, but how does she sleep at night after a long day of lying

Why are people so surprised that Aiden recognised (or potentially recognised) that Susie was his? Is it not widely known that babies resemble their father strongly? I think it is a feature of nature to strengthen the family.
He leaves factory to Alya. This does not make any sense.

Hope he made the stipulation that Summer checks all her financial estimates before committing to any contracts :p
A beautiful, heartbreaking episode. The main thing that stood out for me was Gail's little speech; a lovely, quiet reflection on how little we know our neighbours, even on a street like Coronation Street. She seemed like a surprising choice given she didn't really know Aidan but I think it needed to be someone objective - a character who's upset by it but not personally involved. And it was good to see her doing something other than shrieking or simpering.
I dreaded that they would do a musical montage with a stupid song playing in the background as various characters were told the news but the way they did it was just perfect.
I have to mention poor Johnny of course, who seemed to age about ten years in that episode. And finally Roy who wasn't in it for very long but his shock and sadness as he quietly asked Kate to come with him was perfectly done.

Carla will not be happy
Shayne Ward has welcomed a baby boy with fianc?e Sophie Austin.
The Breathless singer, 37, and actress Sophie, already share daughter Willow and have now added to their brood with their new arrival.
It came as a bit of a surprise to the new parents, who had been told by doctors they were having a second daughter ? a sister to five-year-old Willow.
