Sun, Sea and Solana – Benidorm returns
ITV’s award winning comedy Benidorm has been re-commissioned for an eighth series and will film on location in Spain later this year.
Series 7 which is currently airing on ITV has featured the welcome return of Johnny Vegas and Elsie Kelly as The Oracle (aka Geoff Maltby) and Noreen Maltby. The series has also seen the return of Solana Group CEO Crystal Hennessy-Vass played by Dame Joan Collins.
The show’s creator Derren Litten will pen all 7 episodes of the new series, which will introduce a brand new family to the Solana.
Benidorm has been commissioned for ITV by Elaine Bedell, ITV’s Director of Comedy & Entertainment and Comedy Commissioning Editor Saskia Schuster.

Derren Litten, Pete Thornton and Sophie Clarke Jervoise will serve as Executive Producers for the new series.
Benidorm is a Tiger Aspect production for ITV.
Shane Richie is heading to Benidorm, and not just for a holiday.
The EastEnders actor will make a special guest appearance in the eighth series of the ITV comedy in 2016, and has been spotted filming in the Spanish holiday resort.

He was photographed wearing an '80s wig and an animal print shirt as he started work on the show.
An ITV insider confirmed Richie's appearance, saying: "Yes – Shane Richie arrives at The Solano as one of a selection of fabulous cameo appearances.
"There's no more to say right now about the character he is playing or what he gets up to. The only way to find out will be to tune in to Benidorm series 8 early in 2016."

Sheila Reid has also been spotted filming scenes for the new series despite her character jetting off to Las Vegas with her family at the end of the last series.
Meanwhile, Richie bid a temporary farewell to EastEnders alongside his on-screen wife Jessie Wallace last month, but viewers will be able to follow Kat and Alfie's life away from Walford in a new spinoff series in 2016.
T’S OFFICIAL – ITV have announced that the new Benidorm series will be aired the week beginning 11th January 2016.
For viewers who have been waiting for the latest series of Benidorm ITV have announced that series 8 will hit the screens in the New Year.
There are plenty of old faces as well as some new ones including the Dawson family consisting of Julie Graham, Steve Edge, Bobby Knutt, Josh Bolt and HonorKneafsey.
TV favourite Julie Graham (Doc Martin, The Bletchley Circle) will be playing the role of Sheron, while Steve Edge (Phoenix Nights) takes on the part of Eddie, with the pair heading up the Dawson clan.
In series 7, viewers said goodbye to the Garvey family leaving the way open for a new group to take over.
Sheila Reid who plays Madge makes a return to the show with another household name, Shane Richie being spotted in the resort during filming.
Tiger Aspects Productions, who produce the programme and are renowned for making good quality comedy and drama were recently nominated in the Broadcast Awards for “best independent production company”, “best single drama” and “best original programme” where winners will be announced at a glittering awards ceremony on 10 February 2016 at Grosvenor House, London.

Benidorm is gearing up for the fancy dress British Fiesta. The boys’ ingenious costumes get them in trouble with the law and Les misses Liam. Mateo scares the punters in his clown costume and Troy is harassed by an unwanted and unstable admirer.

Tin Healy was reportedly airlifted to a British hospital after he was struck down by a mystery illness while filming the popular ITV show Benidorm.
According to reports, the actor has been in hospital for nearly a month after he contracted the illness which left him "fighting for his life".
It is believed he is "making progress" and he was stable enough to fly to a hospital in Manchester on Saturday.
An unnamed source told the Mirror: "Tim has been in a bad way for a while and had to put off filming in Benidorm.
"He was in hospital for three and a half weeks, and at one point he was fighting for his life.
"But he was flown to Manchester on Saturday and his condition improved. His wife Joan has been by his side throughout the whole ordeal."
They added: "He's still in hospital but is making progress. The doctors are keeping a constant eye on him."
Tim was busy filming for Benidorm, which is reportedly halfway through filming the new series, when he was suddenly taken ill.
