EastEnders' Kim Fox will return to Walford over the Christmas period, but it will soon become clear that she is hiding some secrets.

It was recently reported that Tameka Empson had returned to filming at the soap after a year away from her role as Kim.

Empson took a break from the show a year ago while pregnant with her first child and has been focusing on her family ever since.

Kim's disappearance was explained on screen when she went away on a cruise with a man she met in the kebab shop and later ended up marrying him.

However, upon her return, Kim will be shocked by all of the changes in Albert Square since she left - most notably amongst her own family.

Kim's return will follow a difficult few months for her sister Denise after she split from Ian Beale and became a carer for Patrick Trueman following his stroke.

Viewers have recently seen the pressure of looking after Patrick take its toll on Denise as she started stealing from the Minute Mart and increased her consumption of alcohol.

Kim will undoubtedly want to help her family with their troubles, but as she is holding secrets of her own, it remains to be seen whether she can offer Denise the support that she desperately needs.

EastEnders will air Kim's return on Tuesday, December 30 at 7.30pm on BBC One.

2015 will begin with a bang on EastEnders as one of the show's characters is killed off.

The shock death will air in the soap's New Year's Day episode, which will be screened in a 65-minute slot from 8.30pm.

After a year of on-screen surprises for EastEnders fans, show bosses have decided to keep the unlucky victim's identity under wraps until transmission.

The programme's team are also keeping quiet about the exact details surrounding the character's demise, leaving fans to speculate before the episode airs.

EastEnders recently released a trailer showing a dramatic car crash stunt which will soon hit the Square. However, viewers will have to wait and see whether this is the storyline that brings about the shock exit or if the character bows out in other circumstances.

The New Year edition looks set to be a must-see edition of the Walford soap, airing just days after the Carter family's explosive Christmas.

As well as the dramatic death twist, the episode will see the Lucy Beale killer suspects officially cut down to 11, while Ronnie Mitchell and Charlie Cotton will also be taking centre stage as their wedding day arrives.

New EastEnders pictures have been released showing Emma Summerhayes making a phone call to Lucy Beale's killer.

Emma (Anna Acton) will get in touch with the mystery culprit after making a huge breakthrough in Lucy's ongoing murder investigation.

As previously reported, there will be an explosive moment in the whodunnit storyline just after Christmas, as Emma becomes increasingly focused on cracking the case.

Despite no longer working on the investigation, Emma starts to piece together various bits of evidence over the festive season. This includes a video which shows footage of Good Friday, the night of Lucy's death.

As everything finally falls into place for Emma, she is certain that she knows who killed Lucy and makes a phone call, but what will she learn afterwards?

EastEnders hardman Phil Mitchell will clash with Nick Cotton yet again on New Year's Day.

Phil (Steve McFadden) heads over to see Nick in a fury after hearing about his cousin Ronnie's latest problems with the villain.

Ronnie turns to Phil for support after her future father-in-law crosses her, but when Phil tries to defend her, Nick (John Altman) attempts to turn the situation to his advantage.

Nick warns Phil that Ronnie is double-crossing them both for her own gain and spitefully offers him a drink as a 'peace offering', but Phil can't be manipulated so easily and throws the drink straight back in his face!

With hostilities resumed, how far will Phil go for revenge against Nick?

New EastEnders pictures show the continued fallout from the Carter family's explosive Christmas Day.

The festive season was a devastating time for the family this year as Mick (Danny Dyer) discovered that his partner Linda had been raped by Dean Wicks, as well as the life-changing revelation that his 'sister' Shirley is actually his mum.

After trashing the Queen Vic in a rage, Mick sits in the pub trying to make sense of everything and is desperate to get Linda back following her sudden departure.

As Mick tries to figure out where Linda is, Stan (Timothy West) is on hand to offer him some comfort and advice.

Two new EastEnders pictures have been released showcasing the soap's New Year's Day car crash stunt.

2015 gets off to an explosive start in tonight's hour-long episode as a runaway car comes crashing through Albert Square.

The shock storyline was first teased in EastEnders' Christmas trailer last month, but show bosses are still keeping tight-lipped about the cause of the crash, who is inside and whether they will survive.

The pictures below are behind-the-scenes shots which offer a sneak peek at the day the dramatic moment was filmed.

New EastEnders pictures show the aftermath of the devastating car crash which took place on New Year's Day.

The Walford soap's latest episode featured tense and dramatic scenes, as Ronnie Mitchell's life was left hanging in the balance after she was caught up in the terrifying incident.

While yesterday's cliffhanger saw Ronnie (Samantha Womack) show signs of improvement after flatlining, her loved ones remain on tenterhooks tonight as they wait for further news.

Ronnie's new husband Charlie, mother-in-law Yvonne, cousin Phil and sister Roxy all desperately hope for the best, but viewers will have to wait and see whether she pulls through.

Think i've missed something, Nick cut the cables of the blue Audi, (whose car was it?) was it Ronnie's car? is so, then surely his son Charlie would be in the car, if it was'nt Ronnies car, how did Nick know which car to sabotage, if he is stuck in the house (yea i know he's creeped about outside) how could he possibly know which car cables to cut?? I well puzzled in this, please help me out!!

The answer is easy. This is Eastenders. That's all you need to know!

Good answer! :D

Although I can't remember it being explicitly stated, I thought the car was Roxy's since she was driving. The wedding preparations would have been discussed at length in the Cotton house, which explains how Nick knew which car Ronnie would be travelling in.

Going by the look on his face when Yvonne told him Charlie was in the car too, I presume he was too stupid to realise his son would likely be travelling in the same car as Ronnie after the wedding. :wall:

Aye good answer but does EE think we're daft enough not to wonder???
And what human would be as stupid to do something so serious when their son was marrying the intended victim.
I too thought it was Roxy's car when Alex chucked the keys over, which makes the crime even more seriously stupid, as anyone could have driven it, and (Oh i'm getting vexed now) :wall:if Nick knew it was going be the "wedding" vechicle then of course the "Groom" would be in ----- his son!!!!!!!!!!!!!:nono:
EE this is a total load of b*II*cks, but i Still love the show:heart::o

You have the same love/hate relationship with the show that I think we all have. Infuriating at times but can't bear to miss it.

Especially the explosive episodes that rock the Square and send shockwaves through the inhabitants whose lives will never be the same again! :D

Nick would have known it was the 'wedding' car as it had a ribbon on the front?

but he couldnt have known who or when anyone would next be travelling in it? they only had to get in the car when Ronnie went into labour? otherwise they could still have been at the reception?
