Coming up on Coronation Street, Todd Grimshaw lashes out at his family after learning that he will be scarred for life following a vicious attack.

Todd (Bruno Langley) will suffer a horrific beating later this week after being targeted by a gang of thugs in an alleyway.

As Todd recovers in hospital, his family all rally around him, with his mum Eileen (Sue Cleaver) feeling particularly guilty due to the argument they had prior to his attack.

When a frustrated Todd demands to have a look in the mirror, he is horrified to see the extent of his injuries.

As the doctor confirms that it is likely he will be scarred for life, Todd is distraught and shouts at his family to get out...

Monday

Ken excitedly plans a party tea as Peter arrives home. He is thrilled to see Simon and hands him the diary he kept in prison. Steve shakes Peter's hand and offers an awkward apology, but will Peter accept?

Later, when Carla takes the factory girls to The Rovers to celebrate a new order, Peter enters and locks eyes with Carla. Do the pair have unfinished business?

Meanwhile, eaten up with guilt, Eileen tells Jason that as soon as Todd is discharged from hospital, he's moving back home. Later, Eileen, Jason, Julie and Sean visit Todd in hospital. Todd demands a mirror and is horrified to see the extent of his injuries. The doctor confirms it's likely he'll be scarred for life. Todd is distraught and shouts at his family to get out.

Elsewhere, Tim is preoccupied and Sally is suspicious, convinced that he's keeping something from her. Knowing Sally suspects something is going on, Tim tries to back out of his reading lesson, but Anna refuses to let him, pointing out that he's doing it for Faye. Tim calls in the factory with flowers for Sally and tells her how much he loves her. Sally's suspicions are heightened.

Also, Katy announces that she wants to train as a paramedic. Chesney is scathing, but Yasmeen is supportive.

Finally, Gary and Alya continue their secret relationship, making plans to meet in town.

Monday (2)

Peter pleads with Carla to give him 5 minutes and hear what he has to say. In The Rovers back room, Peter thanks Carla for handing him a lifeline. Carla makes it crystal clear that she didn't do it for him but for the sake of justice.

Despite this, Peter suggests that they could make another go of their relationship. Desperate and casting dignity aside, Peter gets down on his knees and tearfully begs Carla to take him back.

Meanwhile, Todd apologises for his outburst and explains how he's going to be scarred for life. Eileen confides in Jason, Julie and Sean how she feels she let Todd down and blames herself for his attack. As Todd stares at his disfigured face in the mirror, he breaks down.

Elsewhere, as Cilla pals up with Craig, Chesney watches with a pang of jealousy before storming out of the house. Opening up to Rita, Chesney explains how he wishes his mother had made the same effort for him as she does for Craig.

Also, Sally puts on a sexy dress and surprises Tim with a romantic meal. But when Tim acts shiftily, aware that he should be at Anna's for his reading lesson, will Sally's suspicions grow?

Finally, Kal tells Zeedan that he could do much better than labouring for Tony, while Gary and Alya secretly head on a date.

Wednesday

Michelle calls at Number 1 and hands Peter an envelope containing Carla's wedding ring. Peter's day goes from bad to worse when Steph lays into him, pointing out that had Tina never met him, she'd still be alive.

Ken is later horrified to find a bottle of vodka stashed away in Peter's jacket. At breaking point, Peter drops a bombshell on Ken.

Meanwhile, with Chesney unable to babysit Joseph, Cilla steps into the breach. As Cilla looks after him she slips and falls, damaging her back. In pain, Cilla heads off to the doctors, leaving Joseph with Craig and Faye. Arriving home, Chesney is horrified to find his son in the care of the teenagers. Will he soften when Cilla returns from A&E and explains she has fractured a vertebra?

Elsewhere, Todd returns home from hospital. Eileen, Jason and Eva fuss round him, but Todd points out that if they'd always been this keen to spend time with him, he wouldn't have been attacked!

Also today, as an embarrassed Tim embarks on his first reading lesson with Anna he lies to Sally, telling her that he's out cleaning windows. But when Sally checks Tim's sponge and finds it bone dry, she wonders where he's really been.

Finally, Kal is furious to discover that Tony is not paying Zeedan minimum wage.

Friday

After agreeing to rent the bookies flat to Owen, Peter calls in the pub and tells Steve and Michelle that he is leaving. Michelle is glad to see the back of him, but Steve wishes Peter well.

After arranging for any rent to be paid to Leanne for Simon's maintenance, Peter breaks the news to Simon that he is moving to Portsmouth. Simon is clearly upset and when he launches himself at Peter, begging him not to leave, will Peter be persuaded to change his mind?

Later, worried they're not spending enough time together, Michelle rearranges the rotas so that she and Steve have to work together. Will her plan pay off?

Meanwhile, Alya finds Gary alone in the builders' yard. They kiss passionately until they realise to their horror that Leanne is watching and quickly break apart.

Elsewhere, as Tim arranges another reading lesson with Anna, Sally notices their hushed conversation and is immediately suspicious.

Also, Kal confronts Tony about Zeedan's paltry wages. Zeedan is fuming and orders Kal to stay out of it.

Finally, Cilla admits to Fiz and Tyrone what a dreadful mother she's been and reckons it'll be best for everyone if she moves back to Wolverhampton. Fiz insists that she is going with her to help while she recuperates.

Friday (2)

Simon is upset, blaming himself for not believing in his own dad's innocence and causing him to want to leave. Peter assures Simon that it's not his fault.

Later, Carla finds Peter and a tearful Simon on Maxine's bench. Carla joins them and promises Simon that she'll arrange for him to visit his dad in Portsmouth whenever he wants to. Will Simon let his dad go?

Meanwhile, Leanne confronts Gary and Alya, demanding to know what's going on. Alya admits they're seeing each other but she doesn't want Kal to find out. Will Leanne be willing to lie to Kal and keep their secret?

At the same time, knowing how small the bookies flat is, Izzy offers Gary her sofa. Owen and Anna secretly hope they might be getting back together.

Elsewhere, Tim struggles on with another reading lesson, but when Sally discovers Anna missing from the café and Tim turns up 40 minutes late for his lunch looking sheepish, Sally puts two and two together and comes up with five, convinced that Tim is having an affair with Anna.

Does Katy have qualifications that make her think she can all of a sudden be a paramedic!

I remenber when she was first in Corrie- doing well at school
going to get lots of GCSEs ,and hope to go to Uni.
Then met Babe Magnet Chesney and and ambitions evaporated!!

But Chesney was also portrayed as very bright when he first appeared!!

That was probably just Sally's viewpoint of her daughter....Shame they don't have any academic achievers on the street. The last one might have been Ken. How many years ago was that.

Being the sad personality I am I googled qualifications required. You need 5 GCSEs and 2 A levels to get to Uni or secure a placement as a student paramedic with a NHS Trust. My husband just made me laugh ( a person who does not watch any soaps at all) saying that they must have made a mistake as its not realistic to have her all of sudden planning to be a paramedic. I told them soaps have nothing to do with reality most of the time.

That was probably just Sally's viewpoint of her daughter....Shame they don't have any academic achievers on the street. The last one might have been Ken. How ma
ssny years ago was that.

Corrie started in abt 1960 and Ken was a student then.
Actor looking a bit old for the part in his student stripe
scarf. In the old b&w replays they include when theres
??thAnniversary of Corrie -Ken is still same a bit snobby
but frightened to move away-big fish in little pond
syndrome and the character not popular with the other
characters because of "big ideas" and trying to be a rebel
There have been a few other young characters who went
to University but it was mainly used as a means of writing
them out - not a positive message about education or
"improving their chances in life"
Daran Little a
nd others wrote various books about the history
and characters quite some time ago. I kept them for years then
gave them to Charity Shop wben I had a clear-out

What about Kirk? :rotfl:

Kirk might not be the most intellectual knife in the box
but he is one of the most well- meaning- quite rare in a
soap character.
like the icon!

You summed up Ken well. He does think he is better than others. Gets on Deirdres nerves with it all as he always treats her as she is thick! She puts him in hs place when he does it though. Love the woman. One thing that is realistic in a city like Manchester you only have 2 universities to choose from so likely that you will have to leave to study like I had to.
