A TV source told The Sun: "We are getting some of the show's most iconic names back for one night only. It's going to be historic.

"All the characters have a link to Ian Beale and they are going to come back to haunt him in scenes that will feature his past and present."

They added: "This is going to be an absolute must-watch evening of TV for any EastEnders fan."

Michelle Collins, who played Cindy Beale until her death in 1998, has confirmed her involvement, but is yet to reveal any concrete details.

Pam St Clement's Pat Butcher passed away in 2012, Lucy Beale was killed in a whodunit murder storyline this summer, while Kathy, played by Gillian Taylforth, left the soap in 2000. Viewers were told she had died in a car crash six years later.

An EastEnders spokesperson told Digital Spy: "We don't want to confirm the exact details just yet as we don't want to spoil the surprise but this is one Children in Need EastEnders viewers will not want to miss."

Children In Need comes to BBC One on Friday, November 14 from 7pm.
