EastEnders bosses are thought to be recasting a major character.
The show's executive producer Dominic Treadwell-Collins told the Sunday People that a famous Walford resident from the past will soon be making a return, but with a new actor taking over in the part.
EastEnders chiefs are keeping tight-lipped over who the character in question is, but the surprise revelation is likely to spark huge speculation among fans over the coming days.
Treadwell-Collins told the newspaper: "I love EastEnders and I want it back at number one. Great characters and great stories will do it. We're edging back - and there's lots more to come."
EastEnders has enjoyed a strong week on BBC One with Phil and Sharon's wedding week, which pulled in the show's highest figures since June.
Friday's edition (October 3), which saw Phil fight for his life after being shot by Shirley Carter, was also the most-watched show of the day ahead of Coronation Street and The X Factor.
