View Full Version : Hollyoaks Christmas and New Year 2014
Hollyoaks will air two feature-length episodes at Christmas this year, Digital Spy can exclusively reveal.
Special hour-long editions of the soap will air on Channel 4 on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve, giving fans an extra treat over the festive season.
Show bosses are keeping tight-lipped about the exact storylines that will feature in the episodes, but Digital Spy understands that Ste Hay (Kieron Richardson) and John Paul McQueen (James Sutton) will be taking centre stage in the Christmas Eve special.
Ste and John Paul have fallen for each other this year, but viewers will have to wait and see whether the episode is a happy or sad time for the on-off couple.
Meanwhile, the New Year's Eve special is expected to focus on secrets and lies within the village in the midst of the end-of-year festivities.
There are revelations and high drama ahead in the episode as high spirits lead to risk-taking amongst some of those with secrets to hide.
Previous years have often seen Hollyoaks air double bills over Christmas, but the show is taking a different approach this year as these episodes are being written and specially shot as feature-length specials for 60-minute timeslots.
A show source told Digital Spy: "These episodes should be a real treat for fans this Christmas. They almost have a movie-esque feel and will feature a lot of story content in two big weeks for the show."

Freddie Roscoe and Lindsey Butterfield look set to be exposed as love cheats later this month.
The pair have recently betrayed Freddie's brother Joe by embarking on a secret affair.
Although Freddie (Charlie Clapham) and Lindsey (Sophie Austin) have managed to keep their passion for each other under wraps, the truth seems likely to come out after a police detective secures an incriminating photograph which shows them kissing.
DS Thorpe, who is investigating Freddie over Mercedes McQueen's apparent murder, decides to post the photo to Joe in a cunning attempt to tear the Roscoes apart.
The drama plays out just as the Roscoes' mum Sandy (Gillian Taylforth) pays a visit to the village to see her sons for the first time since her departure in August.
Sandy's homecoming is far from a happy one when she learns that Freddie is a murder suspect, but questions from his concerned mother soon become the least of Freddie's worries when he finds out about the damning photo.
Knowing that the unopened letter is in Joe's bag, ruthless Freddie arranges for his older sibling to be mugged so that it can be retrieved again.
Freddie's latest scheme appears to go according to plan, but trouble looms when Joe tracks down his attacker and finds the surveillance photo in the remnants of a fire.
Viewers will have to wait and see whether the photo's contents are still visible, but Joe's discovery sets the stage for an hour-long New Year's Eve special which sees a number of the Roscoes' storylines come to a head.

Rick (Victor Gardener) will be at the centre of trouble within the family when his son Robbie discovers that he has been feeding Nancy Osborne's painkiller addiction by supplying her with pills.
Robbie (Charlie Wernham) still has strong feelings for Nancy and is disgusted when he finds out what his father has been up to.
Whatever Rick decides to do next, it seems that the damage has already been done as Nancy (Jessica Fox) is back in the grip of a serious addiction.
At a low point, Nancy steals pills from the Roscoes' bedroom cabinet and ends up collapsing in the folly after taking too many.
Robbie is the first one to spot Nancy and when she wakes up, she tries to cover the extent of her own shame by lying that Rick gave the pills to her.
Returning to his bad boy ways, Robbie immediately goes in search of his dad and they end up fighting in the Roscoes' yard.
After a difficult day of his own, Joe spots the heated scene and jumps to his younger brother's defence by punching Rick in the face.
Although Joe hasn't intended to cause much damage, his intervention has shocking consequences as Rick is left lifeless on the floor - causing everyone to fear that he is dead.
A Hollyoaks source told Digital Spy: "Nancy feels terrible when she finds out what has happened as she knows that her lies have caused the situation. But will Rick be okay?"
Hollyoaks airs the hour-long special on New Year's Eve at 6.30pm on Channel 4.

As ever in Hollyoaks, the big day isn't without some drama as John Paul ends up stranded in a remote location following an eventful stag night.
Sporting a Geri Halliwell-style Union Jack dress, John Paul has to hitch a ride back to Chester with special guest star Ben Foden and a group of other rugby union players in order to make it to the ceremony in time.
As our pictures show, the wedding eventually goes off without a hitch as family and friends gather to see Ste and John Paul celebrate the start of a new life together.
However, with show bosses promising trouble at the wedding reception, will the happy atmosphere last for long?
Hollyoaks airs these scenes in an hour-long episode on Tuesday, December 23 at 7pm on E4 and Christmas Eve at 6.30pm on Channel 4.
Hollyoaks star James Sutton has promised that there will be a "classic" soap revelation after John Paul McQueen and Ste Hay's wedding.
Show bosses have lined up a Christmas Day church ceremony for John Paul and Ste, before everything goes wrong for them at their wedding reception.
The romance and drama all plays out in an hour-long episode which airs on Christmas Eve.
Speaking to All About Soap about the twists and turns on the day, Sutton explained: "There's finally a little bit of happiness, which is what they haven't had much of together so far.
"It's all going really well, but then there's a bit of a bombshell at the end of the wedding. It's a huge revelation, in classic soap fashion!
"It's such a well-written episode and it's an hour-long special as well, which is great."
Sutton added that he and co-star Kieron Richardson, who plays Ste, were both honoured to take centre stage in such a big episode for the Channel 4 show.
He said: "It is very nice. For us, we don't have an actual Christmas Day episode, so to be part of the hour-long special on Christmas Eve, with a storyline that's a gay wedding in church, we're both extremely proud of that.
"And we're also really pleased with how well it's all gone. I can't wait to see it myself - I'm very excited."
Hollyoaks airs the wedding episode on Tuesday, December 23 at 7pm on E4 and Christmas Eve at 6.30pm on Channel 4.
