Coronation Street's Max and Kylie
Viewers have already seen hints of a change in Max's behaviour in recent episodes, but when the situation worsens over the coming weeks, Kylie and her husband David will finally realise that something is wrong.
In a further development, Kylie hits rock bottom following Max's diagnosis and later makes a terrible decision when she resorts to taking his medication herself - causing more problems in her marriage to David (Jack P Shepherd).
Coronation Street's producer Stuart Blackburn told the show's official website: "Over the weeks, we see a real change in Max's behaviour and what we are going to learn is that he is suffering from ADHD.
"We have done an awful lot of research on this and it is going to take us to a point where Max is going to be put on medication."
He added: "Kylie hits a really low point - physically and emotionally she is completely drained and in that moment of madness she takes some of Max's medication. She is utterly ashamed and David is disgusted when he finds out.
"This is, out of all the bad decisions Kylie has made, the worst one ever. It is going to have a devastating effect on her, her health and those around her and it is going to bring real trouble to the door of the Platts' household."
The news means that actress Paula Lane, who plays Kylie, gets another dramatic storyline in the build-up to her upcoming maternity leave.
Why on earth would she take his medication. Stupid storyline
ADHD doesn't happen overnight! Max hasn't had any problems before..totally unbelievable! Utter rubbish!
They really need to research properly.
Well, we have not always seen him, so would we be necessarily be aware that there was a problem??

He's been around all the time-yes, we've seen him, and there hasn't been any behavior problems before.

I think we just need to suspend our disbelief. It's highly unlikely that any soap would plant the seeds of such a storyline many months, or even years, before.
That is what I was saying .. we have not seen a lot of him, even if he was around but the storyline did not concentrate on him so we would not have been introduced to his different behaviour

Mothers with hyper active children have been known to take their children´s medication. Ritalin (a popular drug for ADHD) has exactly the opposite effect on the adult - you get loads and loads of energy. (This was a storyline in Desperate Housewives - Lynette Scavo took some from another mother) Needless to say it never ends well!

Coronation Street airs a new crisis for the Platt family next week as Max Turner's behaviour spirals out of control.
Nick Tilsley and Shona Ramsey will both be pushed to breaking point as Max (Harry McDermott) behaves badly in David's absence.
New spoilers released on Coronation Street's official website have revealed that Nick (Ben Price) is first to encounter Max's troublesome moods.
Nick is alarmed to find Max smashing up pots in Victoria Gardens – a far cry from his usual good behaviour.
When Nick steps in and tries to calm Max down, he's alarmed as the schoolboy turns violent and takes a swing at him.
Later, there's more drama involving Max when he starts playing up at Lily's birthday party.
Shona (Julia Goulding) has to step in to deal with the situation, but she may be out of her depth as she later becomes tearful in front of Sarah and Leanne.
Is Max's behaviour becoming a cause for concern?
Coronation Street fans know that David was recently given an eight-month sentence for his role in stealing Audrey Roberts' inheritance money.
He'll have to spend at least four months behind bars before being considered for release.

Returns with a new head
Coronation Street fans are going to be doing a bit of a double take in coming weeks as David Platt?s (Jack P Shepherd) adopted son Max Turner will have a bit of a new look.
Young actor Harry McDermott is stepping down from the role he has played for 11 years. He made his debut alongside the character?s mum Kylie in 2010.
Paddy Bever has taken over the role and has already started filming on the show, his first appearance due later this month.
Metro.co.uk understands that Max will be central to a story later in the autumn which will put him in conflict with David and another character on the Street although we are currently sworn to secrecy.
Max has been central to a number of storylines, including being torn between his biological father Callum and his adoptive dad David.
He was also diagnosed with ADHD when his behaviour spiraled out of control and his world was rocked when his mum Kylie was stabbed to death.
Coronation Street has recently shone a light on its gifted teenage cast, with Mollie Gallagher, Millie Gibson, Tanisha Gorey, Max Evans, Harriet Bibby, Alex Bain and Elle Mulvaney all wowing in their roles over the past couple of years.

He's never been Max Platt only Max Turner.
The new guy looks like Max has aged a fair bit over night. Wonder if he'll start hanging around with the 'teens' as a result!
Coronation Street has revealed details of a new storyline for Max Turner, which will be the first featuring new Max actor Paddy Bever.
The soap announced last week that previous Max actor Harry McDermott had stepped down after 11 years in the role, with Paddy now taking over for future storylines.
Fans will first see Paddy in action as Max next week, when he clashes with new teacher Daniel Osbourne (Rob Mallard) at school.
As Daniel heads off to begin his teaching placement, his dad Ken Barlow (William Roache) ? who used to be a teacher himself ? couldn't be more proud of his son.
But Daniel soon realises that his new job is going to be far from easy as Max starts playing up in class.
When Max's adoptive dad David Platt (Jack P Shepherd) hears about Max's behaviour, he tells him off for messing about in class ? but, showing no remorse, Max simply storms off.
Later in the week, David is concerned when Max says he thinks school's a waste of time. When Max fails to hand in his homework, Daniel gives him a detention, but Max still claims that he doesn't care.
When David later suggests to Daniel that Max could benefit from extra tutoring, Daniel makes excuses.
Is this the start of a pattern of bad behaviour for Max?
This isn't the first time that David has faced a challenge with Max, who is the son of David's late wife, Kylie Platt (Paula Lane), and her ex, Callum Logan (Sean Ward).
Max's brief reunion with Callum caused David a great deal of stress. Max's diagnosis with ADHD, and his later decision to stop taking his medication, was also a big development for the family.

A bad recast
https://www.digitalspy.com/soaps/coronation-street/a40270182/coronation-street-max-turner-nude-pictures-storyline/
Coronation Street's Max Turner has recently found himself a love interest in Sonya, following his expulsion from school after a series of revenge attempts on Daniel Osbourne.
While he seems very smitten, upcoming scenes will see things take a bad turn as nude photographs he sends end up in the hands of someone he doesn't want to have them, with the soap hinting that 'Sonya' is actually a catfish.
Speaking to The Mirror at the British Soap Awards on Saturday (June 11) about how the toxic masculinity aspect of the storyline differs from Asha Alahan's storyline from years ago, actor Paddy Bever said: "I think it was very important to me to be very focused and to get it very right because this genuinely affects so many people.
"I even know tens of people this has happened to at a very young age and it really does happen. What could make someone more vulnerable than a photo of that? I don't know. I think it's a turning point, I really do.
"With Max's, you're going to see it from more of a male perspective and you're going to see a lot of toxic masculinity, a lot of bravado and a lot of fear that I think Max feels quite ashamed of... because he's a boy, his mates are boys, it's a very different situation.
"I did a lot of research into the new laws that have come about more recently and sort of where Max's head would be at. Because he's a 15-year-old with a laptop.
"I think when I spoke to lots of people that have been affected by this, it's genuinely horrifying to see this epidemic. It really is an epidemic."
Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV and streams on the ITV Hub.

Coronation Street's Max Turner is blackmailed in a catfishing scam next week.
The Weatherfield teen has recently grown close to his new schoolmate Sonya and has also been exchanging messages with her online ? or so he thought.
In next week's episodes, Max prepares for a date with Sonya and receives another message which appears to be from her.
The message asks Max to send a naked photograph so that Sonya can see what to expect.
Max is surprised by the request, but as he returns home unbuttoning his shirt, it's clear that he's prepared to go along with it.
Later, when they meet for dinner, Sonya tells Max that she has never received any messages from him and has never sent any back.
The teens are horrified to realise that someone has set them up in a catfishing scam.
Shortly afterwards, Max's worries get worse when he receives a message demanding ?1,000 otherwise his naked picture will go viral.
Max decides to seek advice from his stepdad David Platt, asking if they can pay the blackmailer.
David thinks about the possibility but rules it out, telling Max to go to school and front it out.
At the bus stop, Max's so-called friends Chris and Blake take the mickey out of him, quoting the messages that he thought he was sending to Sonya.
With Max in turmoil, will his tormentors follow through with their threats and share the photo?
Paddy Bever, who plays Max, recently spoke about this story for the first time and explained how it will explore toxic masculinity.
He told The Mirror: "You're going to see it from more of a male perspective and you're going to see a lot of toxic masculinity, a lot of bravado and a lot of fear that I think Max feels quite ashamed of... because he's a boy, his mates are boys, it's a very different situation.

Max Turner to be groomed by extremists.
Coronation Street is to highlight the issue of the grooming of disenfranchised and impressionable young men in a hard hitting storyline.
https://www.digitalspy.com/soaps/coronation-street/a42333726/coronation-street-spoilers-max-considers-exit/
Coronation Street's Max Turner considers his future in Weatherfield next month after realising what evil Griff Reynolds is capable of.
The teenager has been lured into Griff's extremist gang over the past few weeks, doing his bidding by making online videos which spread racist hatred and propaganda.
As we've previously reported, upcoming scenes see Max start to question his loyalties when he realises that Griff may be planning something dangerous at the Weatherfield Peace Market.
Max becomes suspicious when he learns that Lauren Bolton's father, who's also part of the gang, has warned her to stay away from the market. He realises that it's time to raise the alarm by calling the police.
In the aftermath, Max is questioned at the police station over his involvement in the gang, but he ends up being released without charge.
David tries to stand by his son, but Gail refuses to support Max after the trouble he has brought to their door.
Shortly afterwards, Max is horrified when Griff pays a sinister visit to the Platt house.
Daryan Zahawi tips off David that he tried to visit Max and heard him arguing with someone inside the house.
David rushes over and intervenes, resulting in a fight between him and Griff.
Later in the week, Spider Nugent encourages David to persist with Max, insisting that the schoolboy is a good kid deep down.
Max is torn when Lauren meets up with him and announces plans to stay with her mum in Devon.
Lauren suggests that Max should join her, as they seem to be public enemy number one after their connections to Griff. Will Max agree?
https://www.digitalspy.com/soaps/coronation-street/a43686552/coronation-street-spoilers-max-turner-return/
Coronation Street's Max Turner returns to screens next week following a short break from the soap.
Max reappears when his dad David Platt pays him a visit at the secure training centre, where he's serving a six-month sentence for his involvement with Griff Reynolds' far-right group.
The teenager was last seen on the ITV soap in late February, when David, Shona and Lily came to see him at the STC. Max showed genuine remorse for his behaviour and promised to slowly redeem himself.
Next week, David tells his mum Gail Rodwell that Max is now being considered for early release after good behaviour at the STC.
David then heads to see Max to deliver the news in person.
Although the signs are looking good for Max, cautious David warns him not to get his hopes up.
These are also the first scenes with Max's new shaven-headed look, after actor Paddy Bever showed off a hair transformation on Instagram in March.
Earlier this year, Coronation Street's producer Iain MacLeod spoke about long-term plans for Max's future.
MacLeod told ITV1's Loose Women: "He's going to get a happy ending in the end. It's important that we showed a story where somebody who's gone that far down the wrong path, there is the chance to pull them back.
"The story at its heart was supposed to be about a family dealing with: 'How do you communicate with a teenager that's gone this far off-track? How do you bring them back into the fold? How do you redeem them?'
"So yeah, there's a happy ending. It involves a love story. He meets this incredibly unlikely love interest and it's really funny."
Hopefully Lauren will leave with him
