Over on Coronation Street, there could be new romance on the cards for Carla Barlow when she catches the attention of Luke Britton.

Viewers know that Carla is still reeling from the strain of recent events including the breakdown of her marriage to Peter Barlow and her subsequent miscarriage.

When Carla (Alison King) drops her car off at the garage, Luke is instantly attracted to her as the pair begin to chat.

As Luke proceeds to flirt with an oblivious Carla, he later insists on walking her back to her flat, which Carla accepts.

However, they are unaware that a jealous Peter is watching them. Still desperately seeking a reconciliation with his former wife, what will he make of the attention Carla is receiving?

Hour-long episode

An excited Kylie announces that Becky has offered her and David a free holiday in Barbados, but David is left concerned about their trip when he returns home to find Michael there.

After ordering Michael out of the house, David and Kylie then take it upon themselves to visit Michael at work, where Kylie makes a scene and tells Michael's boss that he burgled their house. Will Kylie have lost Michael his job? And how will Gail react if she finds out?

Meanwhile, Todd pulls a sickie from Streetcars to spend time with Marcus, but Todd is annoyed when Maria returns to the street and tells Marcus that he can continue seeing Liam. Maria braces herself and apologises to Fiz, but can Fiz ever forgive her?

Elsewhere, Leanne tells Simon that she and Kal are now an item. Soon afterwards, Nick promotes an embarrassed Steph to Bistro Supervisor simply to upset Leanne. Later, Alya gives Kal her blessing when he tells her about his new relationship.

Also today, Kylie is dismissive when Max's teacher tells her that her son is disruptive and has difficulty concentrating.

Finally, Todd is sacked from Streetcars when Steve finds out that he skived, while Izzy makes excuses to get out of spending the evening with Gary - telling Fiz that she and Gary don't get on anymore.


Wednesday

Sharif tells Gail that Alya will now be working on reception and that Gail is now the cleaner, but Nick is furious when he finds out and is convinced that Kal is behind it.

At the same time, Michael has lost his job because of Kylie. Gail insists that she's going to help Michael and persuades Steve to give him a job at Streetcars, but Nick and David have other ideas...

Meanwhile, Leanne and Kal are furious when Leanne gets called into work, realising that Nick has left the Bistro under-staffed on purpose to ruin their evening.

Elsewhere, Maria is annoyed when a hungover Marcus fails to show up for Liam. Marcus goes to apologise, but Todd pretends that he's upset about losing his job and doesn't want to be left alone. Will Todd be able to manipulate Marcus into staying?

Also today, Jenna tells Lloyd that she's booking them a holiday in Tenerife.


Thursday

Michael is touched when Gail calls at his bedsit and gives him a shirt for his first day at work. However, when Nick and David later arrive, Michael is left shaken when Nick menacingly tells him to stay away.

Later, when Gail calls at Streetcars, she is shocked to find that Michael didn't turn up. Will Michael be too scared to tell Gail the truth?

Meanwhile, Audrey is shocked when Nick humiliates Leanne in front of her. At the Bistro, customers are forced to leave when the tension between the duo reaches boiling point. How much more of Nick's vile behaviour can Leanne take?

Elsewhere, Carla is grateful when Sally offers to help out in the office, and the factory girls are relieved when Carla announces that she has just secured a large order.

Also today, Steve is convinced that he's going to fail his exam, while Lloyd is concerned when Andrea remains evasive when he asks her to see him off on his holiday.


Friday

Having quit her job at the Bistro, Leanne is feeling nervous when Kal suggests that he brings his family round to hers. His son Zeedan fails to show up, but Leanne manages to make a good impression on his mother Yasmeen.

Later, as the family make to leave, Nick approaches and tells the family that Leanne used to work as a prostitute. How will Yasmeen take the news?

Meanwhile, when Nick lets slip that he knows Michael's address, Gail becomes suspicious and calls at Michael's bedsit, demanding to know the real reason that he didn't turn up for work. When Michael admits that Nick and David threatened him, how will Gail react?

Elsewhere, Luke flirts with an oblivious Carla when she drops her car off at the garage. He later insists on walking her to her flat as a jealous Peter watches on.

Also today, Kylie is at the end of her tether when Max plays up.

Finally, Steve shows Michelle the retro camper van that he has bought for their new business venture, while Andrea's husband Neil tells her that he has postponed his return to Nigeria so they can spend more time together and suggests they visit their daughter Jessica in Liverpool.

I've been worried about the lad who plays Max for some time, because of his exaggerated eye blinking which he does repeatedly. If this is not "acting" i.e. something related to the storyline hinted at above, then hopefully his parents are keeping a close eye on him (unlike his screen family!). Prolonged work of this nature cannot be natural for such young children - there are plenty of former child actors whose miserable adult lives are testament to that.

Maria Connor has a new attitude when she returns to Coronation Street in tonight's hour-long episode (June 30).

Arriving back on the cobbles following her time away, Maria (Samia Ghadie) braces herself for a backlash as Fiz and Tyrone still haven't forgiven her for her malicious text messages.

As Maria now just wants a peaceful life, she lets her ex-partner Marcus Dent (Charlie Condou) know that he can start spending time with Liam again, recognising that she needs to start putting her son first.

Marcus is grateful for Maria's olive branch, but will things be so easy when she comes face-to-face with Fiz again?
