EastEnders' Lauren Branning will pay a visit to her ex-lover Jake Stone in prison next month, determined to find out whether he really did kill Lucy Beale.

Lauren (Jacqueline Jossa) takes the unexpected step when some of Albert Square's residents start to doubt that Jake is the real murderer.

The drama begins when Sharon Rickman and Phil Mitchell visit Jake (Jamie Lomas), urging him to plead guilty to spare Lucy's father Ian any further pain.

However, when Phil listens to Jake's protestations of innocence, he can't help but think that the troubled alcoholic is telling the truth.

When Peter learns that Phil is having doubts, he begs Lauren to visit Jake to find out what he has to say for himself.

A reluctant Lauren eventually agrees, but she doesn't exactly get a warm response from Jake…

Monday

As the Butcher household tries to get back to normal, Bianca worries about the financial impact.

Meanwhile, Sharon is still troubled by Ian's torment and pays a visit to Jake, hoping to convince him to plead guilty to spare the Beales any further pain. Phil joins her for the visit, but Jake refuses to change his plea as he is adamant that he is not guilty. Jake's words make an impact on Phil, who starts to think that he might be telling the truth. Later, Sharon tells Phil that she overheard Cindy talking to Ian about his false alibi…

Elsewhere, with an empty room to fill at the share flat due to Jake being in prison, Tina hatches a plan and persuades Dean to take it.

Also today, Billy is shattered when he is given some life-changing news.


Tuesday

Tosh and Dean start to clash at the flat when Aleks decides to implement some house rules. At the same time, Tina stresses over a work ball that she is attending with Tosh.

Later, Tina seeks a bit of Dutch courage at The Albert, but she goes too far by getting drunk and making a fool of herself as Dean meddles in her and Tosh's relationship…

Meanwhile, a concerned Sharon makes some progress as she tries to get Ian to open up to her, but Phil undoes all of her hard work when he storms into the house and starts firing accusations at Ian. A distraught Ian denies Phil's allegations. However, when Ian is alone later, he makes a suspicious phone call.

Elsewhere, Bianca decides to get involved in a dodgy deal set up by Alfie in an attempt to solve her money worries. When Alfie changes his mind, she is left worried about what to do next.

Also today, Sonia is sent home early from a nursing shift after falling asleep and tells Bianca that she is facing a disciplinary.

Finally, an impulsive decision by Billy sees him playing with fire.


Thursday

Tosh is furious with Tina, who makes the situation worse when she throws up over her in the street. Heading to The Vic alone, Tosh confides in Alfie and Terry about her desire to have children.

Later, Tosh heads home to make things up with Tina - but things soon turn sour when a manipulative Dean stirs trouble between the couple.

Meanwhile, Peter speaks to Phil and is shocked to realise that he believes Jake is innocent. Peter then discusses this with Ian, who is still adamant that Jake is the killer. After failing to obtain a visiting order to see Jake, Peter decides to take matters into his own hands and do some detective work of his own.

Elsewhere, Bianca manages to persuade Alfie to give him his contact's number so that she can make the dodgy deal on her own.

Also today, a desperate Billy resorts to extreme measures.


Friday

It's a big day for the Carters as they prepare to celebrate the unveiling of their new sign for The Vic. With Tina still in Tosh's bad books following the previous day's events, she is determined to put things right and comes up with a cunning plan.

At the same time, Sonia returns from her disciplinary and her day soon goes from bad to worse. Bianca confronts Sonia about her obvious feelings for Tina in the toilets at the Queen Vic, but when Dot comes out of a cubicle having overheard everything, she expresses her disappointment in Sonia.

Meanwhile, Peter convinces Lauren to visit Jake in prison to get answers. He also continues with his own detective work, getting into an altercation as he tries to find the unlicensed cab driver whose car Lucy got in the night she was murdered. Returning from visiting Jake, Lauren oversees and comforts Peter.

Elsewhere, Bianca's new stock arrives from Alfie's contact.
