Former Hollyoaks Later actress Amy Walsh has landed a stint in Emmerdale.
Amy, who is the sister of Girls Aloud star Kimberley Walsh, announced the news to followers on her Twitter page.

She said: "Looks like it's definitely happening. I've just signed on the dotted line of my contract for @emmerdale. Exciting times ahead! Whoop whooo!"
Details of who Walsh will be playing and her storyline have yet to be revealed, but it's thought that she will start filming at the ITV soap within the next few weeks.
Walsh previously portrayed the role of Jenifique McQueen in Hollyoaks Later's fourth series in 2011.
The storyline, which was Walsh's first TV job, saw Jenifique unveiled as a new member of the McQueen family when the feisty clan travelled to Ibiza for Mercedes's hen night.
As well as Hollyoaks, Walsh has appeared in a number of theatre shows.

Former Hollyoaks Later star Amy Walsh is playing Sam Dingle's new love interest in Emmerdale.
Earlier this year, it was revealed that the actress had landed a stint on the ITV soap, but full details of her role can be confirmed for the first time today (July 1).
Amy, who is the sister of Girls Aloud star Kimberley Walsh, has been cast in the part of Tracy Shankley - a chaotic character who divides opinion when she makes her first appearance in the village next week.
Tracy arrives in Emmerdale to catch up with Sam (James Hooton) after they came into contact via an adult chat line. He offers her a place to stay, but Lisa quickly becomes suspicious over the newcomer's motives and kicks her out.
Sam's boss Declan Macey soon takes pity on him by agreeing that he and Tracy can stay at Brook Cottage for a while, but with Robbie Lawson still squatting at the property, they find themselves with an unexpected housemate.
An Emmerdale source told Digital Spy: "With Tracy sticking around in the village, Lisa and Zak remain suspicious over her intentions and insist that she won't get a penny from Sam. Are they right to be worried?"
Amy previously played the role of Jenifique McQueen in Hollyoaks Later's fourth series in 2011. Kimberley's older sister Sally also appeared in Emmerdale as Lyn Hutchinson between 1997 and 2000.

Amy Walsh has agreed to reprise her role as Tracy Shankley and will be back on screen in the New Year, while another familiar face will also be descending on the village in the near future.
Walsh was seen in the role of Amy in the summer and featured in a storyline with established resident Sam Dingle, using him for all she could get.
While Tracy was only ever intended to be a guest character, show bosses quickly saw potential for her to become a regular.
Speaking at an Emmerdale press conference on Monday (December 1), Oates explained: "We loved Amy so much when she arrived. She was initially supposed to be a character just in for those few months, to bring Sam back to life after Rachel.
"We just loved her. The writers really, really loved her and they thought that she brought a classic soap quality to Emmerdale. She's definitely fitted in with the cast brilliantly as she's a great girl."
She jokingly added: "Amy was part of the team that beat Corrie soundly at netball only a few weeks ago, which basically means she can stay forever!
"Tracy will be returning in January. Considering that her first appearance was as someone who worked on sex chat lines and had to befriend Sam Dingle as her best bet, even she's fallen on hard times! I wouldn't want to be Tracy for all the tea in china!"
Walsh, who is the sister of former Girls Aloud sister Kimberley, has already filmed her return scenes.

However, it seems Tracy may have turned over a new leaf as she impresses Val next week by dealing with a difficult customer, securing herself a potential new job.
Later, when Tracy arrives with the money she owes the Dingles, Sam is left further torn and confused, as Kerry insists he steer clear of Tracy.
However, when Tracy makes a show of leaving the village in front of Sam, it is clear he is having doubts about her leaving.
Sam and Tracy grow even closer as they prepare a birthday party for his son Samson, leaving Zak unimpressed about their growing friendship.
As Tracy apologises to Sam for the way she treated him before she left last time, they start to kiss until they are interrupted. Could Sam be heading for happier times?
Emmerdale airs these scenes next week on ITV.

How does it feel to be back on Emmerdale?
"I was really pleased to come back into the show. I absolutely loved it the first time round and I was really sad when I left, because it felt like I was just getting my teeth into the character. When they asked me back I was thrilled. I'm from Bradford, so it's nice to be back up north and see my friends and family."
Was Sam the main reason that Tracy came back to the village?
"Tracy feels that she found something in Sam that she's not had before in any other relationship - even with her parents or the rest of her family. Sam was kind to her when she was in the village last time, and she hasn't had much kindness before that.
"After being kicked out by her boyfriend who hasn't been very nice to her, Tracy knows she can play on Sam's soft side."
Does Tracy genuinely like Sam, or is she using him?
"I think Tracy genuinely likes having someone in her life who is kind and who she can rely on. She is a manipulative person, but she's not malicious and she doesn't set out to plot horrible things for Sam - she just takes advantage of his better nature.
"Tracy likes to be with someone who she can pull the strings with, rather than the situation she had with her ex, who always called the shots and wasn't very nice. I don't know how true her attraction to Sam is, but she likes his company and the safety net he gives her."

"I don't think Tracy ever intended to get Sam into trouble. She thought they were both having fun together and he was enjoying it just as much as she was. She's now very apologetic for it, but she's always playing the game. Tracy knows that if she looks like she feels bad, she might get more trust and kindness from the Dingles in the future. She's an opportunist and she still loves a freebie!"
Could Tracy and Sam make a nice couple?
"I think they've got a nice friendship and it could actually work if Tracy turned nice - but I think that would be too boring for everyone to watch!"

"Sam is very perturbed by that. Tracy is obviously joking, but she is testing the water and seeing how far she has got her feet under the table. She is constantly checking and testing to see if she's got the upper hand. Sam brushes it off and Tracy doesn't really appreciate that very much!"

Would Tracy marry Sam for money?
"I wouldn't put it past her, but Tracy has come back to the village and hasn't moved on to someone else who has more money than Sam, so that's why I believe there must be some love and care there for him.
"I wouldn't rule it out, but I don't think Tracy genuinely means they should get married there and then!"
Does Tracy want to lay down roots in the village?
"Definitely - I think she wants to belong. She likes walking into the pub and having people know her. Tracy also knows how powerful the Dingle family are in the village and maybe if they take her in, they'll keep her."
Should Sam trust Tracy?
"Not really. She's not going to screw him over like she did before, but I don't think he should trust any word she says because she's very manipulative!"
Are some people in the village warming to Tracy now?
"Some certainly are - particularly Val. Val knows what Tracy's faults are, so Tracy doesn't have to pull the wool over her eyes. Val is not stupid, but she also sees Tracy's vulnerabilities.
"There are also a couple of people in the pub who'll have a drink with Tracy, but Zak and Lisa are still very wary and I don't think they can believe that she is back. All of the Dingles have a few digs here and there, so Tracy has got a lot of winning over to do!"
What's in store next for her?
"It's not going to be plain sailing with Sam. There are complications and Sam does start seeing through Tracy's lies and sneakiness. Hopefully she'll stick around in the village, though. She's working in the B&B at the moment, but she always seems to muck it up somehow so that probably won't last for very long!"

I don't mind her with Val just not with Sam
There are exciting times ahead for Tracy.
Fans may get to see a new side to Emmerdale's Tracy Shankley as Amy Walsh is hoping her past will be explored.
Upcoming episodes will see Tracy continue to pursue David Metcalfe, but she is also about to get a new home as well.
As Tracy moves in with Carly and Vanessa, Walsh hopes that this new chapter will also open up opportunities to explore her alter ego's background.

"It will be a massive turning point for her when she's living with Carly and Vanessa - she has not had chums she can confide in before", Walsh told Inside Soap.
"I hope we can learn more about her. Her ex-boyfriend beat her up and her dad's been in prison, so she's a bit of a tough cookie.
"It will be nice to see a more vulnerable side of her."

Emmerdale star Amy Walsh has warned that there's a rocky road ahead for Tracy Shankley as she tries to support David Metcalfe through his cancer battle.
Tracy will spend the night with David next week and is delighted to have finally bagged her man, but things turn sour when he discovers that she knows about his illness and assumes she was only acting out of pity.
With Tracy feeling so strongly for David, only time will tell whether she can convince him of how genuine she is. But either way, Walsh is convinced that Tracy won't be the perfect source of support as David faces a tough battle ahead.
Walsh revealed: "It's a funny one with Tracy, because I almost don't want her to be a girl-next-door, doting wife type for David. I want her to muck up a bit! I think it would only be Tracy if there's a few bumps along the way. As much as her good intentions are to look after David and be there for him, sometimes she misjudges the situation.
"There's a scene we've just filmed where she takes David out drinking, but it's the day before his chemo. She just wants to cheer him up, but he says: 'I can't drink, I'm just about to have chemo'. Tracy doesn't quite get it, but she's keeping him positive. She'll try her best. Her heart's in the right place but sometimes she does mess it up."

Tracy is worried about David
Asked whether she thinks Tracy and David are a good couple, Walsh replied: "Definitely. It's a nice balance of comedy and the drama with the cancer stuff, which is playing out quite well.
"I'm not sure she'd be a great stepmum to Jacob, but I think it could be really interesting to watch. I think Tracy would be the type of girl who thinks she's being there for Jacob and takes him out clubbing when he's underage!
"Tracy wants to be Jacob's good friend because she just wants to be liked. She wants to be part of this family - the Leyla/Jacob/David/Pollard scenario. Often she gets pushed out, but you can tell she's clawing her way in to be wanted and needed in that."
Whatever happens with David, Walsh also has a big hope for Tracy's future - a memorable soap wedding.
She said: "I'd love it! I do think it would be brilliant for Tracy, especially to see what she would look like. I can't even imagine what they'd think up, but it would be something very fun, I think.
"I can imagine Tracy having a festival type wedding where everyone's up for fun and games. She'd get married at a theme park or something. I know she's quite tacky, so you'd imagine her going down that route as well, but I think she's more about the fun than looking like a princess."

Emmerdale's Tracy Shankley could be heading for a prison sentence when she confesses to the attack on teen thug Josh next week.
Scenes to be aired this week will see Dan Spencer find Josh unresponsive on the the cricket pavilion, after someone takes their revenge on Eric Pollard's tormentor in brutal style.
However, there will be further shocks in store as the story progresses in next week's episode because Tracy comes forward as the mystery culprit.
Feeling guilty, Tracy resolves to turn herself into the police, planning to use the attack she recorded on her phone as evidence – much to the horror of Eric, who does his best to stop her.

Pollard even goes so far to smash her phone up in intervention, but his plan is thwarted by an incensed Kerry – who takes what's left of it and marches off to the police station.
With David in hot pursuit, both him and Kerry are determined to get their respective points across when talking to the police.
But David is left heartbroken when Tracy confesses to the attack, resulting in her being locked up. How long will she be behind bars? And did she really do it? Or is she covering for someone else?

Emmerdale star Amy Walsh has revealed that there's a dark storyline coming up for her character Tracy Metcalfe.
Last night's episode (January 31) hinted that Tracy's past had come back to haunt her when the show revealed that she shares a mysterious connection with handyman Phil.
Although Phil pretended to be a stranger, viewers later saw the truth when he sat looking at an old picture of Tracy on his phone.
Talking to himself about Tracy, a sinister Phil muttered: "You may have changed your name, but you haven't changed one bit."
And now, Emmerdale has released a new behind-the-scenes video showing Amy doing a photoshoot for the show.
Revealing how it fits in with her storyline, Amy explained: "We're doing some edgier looks today for me, because it's to promote Tracy's next storyline, which is quite edgy I suppose.
"A bit of her history comes back, someone from her past comes into her life and it gets quite dark."
She added: "With Tracy and David, there's always some fun as well and it's not all doom and gloom.
"But there is a darker side coming in."
We'll see more of Phil over the next few weeks, but for the time being, Emmerdale bosses are keeping quiet over what he has in store for Tracy.

Amy Walsh has revealed she auditioned for another part before she landed the role of Tracy Metcalfe.
She originally auditioned for the role of Rachel Breckle, who would eventually go on to have a one-night stand with Jai Sharma, resulting in the birth of baby Archie. The character was killed off in 2019.
Walsh revealed that when she went on to audition for Tracy, she thought she had "got it all wrong" as she didn't look like any of the other actresses there.

Emmerdale airs a wedding mystery as Tracy Metcalfe returns to the show next week.
The popular character is returning on a full-time basis, with Amy Walsh reprising the role after her maternity leave.
In upcoming scenes, the stage is set for Tracy's return as Cain and Moira Dingle both spot Nate Robinson behaving suspiciously.
Cain realises that his son is hiding a secret and becomes determined to find out what it is.
Next week, Cain and Moira receive a useful tip-off from Nicola King, who has found out that Nate is heading to the town hall.
Cain and Moira decide that Nate must be planning to fight for custody of his young daughter Frankie, after having his time with her cut since Tracy moved to Nottingham last year.
Fearful that such a move would do more harm than good, Cain and Moira rush off to the town hall to stop Nate.
The day takes an unexpected turn when Cain and Moira spot Tracy in a wedding dress outside the registry office.
Tracy has Frankie with her, and a handsome man by her side.
Cain and Moira change their theory, now convinced that Nate is planning to ruin his ex's wedding day.
Deciding to act first and ask questions later, Cain kidnaps Nate before he can make his way inside for the ceremony.
Cain is so forceful that he manages to knock Nate out in the process of his dramatic intervention.
Cain and Moira drive an unconscious Nate back to the village. When he comes round, he's horrified by what they've done ? but what was the reason for his shifty behaviour?
Tracy was last seen in the village for Emmerdale's 50th anniversary episodes in October.
In real life, Amy and her fianc? Toby-Alexander Smith welcomed their first child together, Bonnie, just before Christmas in 2021.

She's pleased when Bernice Blackstock offers her some part-time work at the B&B, hoping that this will help her to save some of the start-up costs required for the business.
However, Caleb soon sticks his oar in to help Tracy get her plans off the ground much more quickly.
TV Times has reported that Caleb offers Tracy a loan, but it's unclear whether she'll be willing to accept it while the Dingles are all holding grudges against him. Will she risk potential disapproval from Cain ? and how will Nate react?
