EastEnders will kick off another five-episode week on Monday, March 24.

The latest scheduling change comes as there is no EastEnders episode on Friday, March 21 due to Sport Relief on BBC One.

Official schedules released today confirm that EastEnders will air twice on Thursday, March 27 to make up for the missing episode.

March 27 sees EastEnders air as normal at 7.30pm before returning with a second visit to Walford at 8.30pm.

As Emmerdale will be screening in its usual 7pm and 8pm slots on ITV, there will be no soap clashes that evening.

The EastEnders week in question is a big one for Dot Branning's current storyline as her son Nick's funeral day arrives.

Over on EastEnders, emotions run high for Dot Branning as the week of Nick Cotton's funeral arrives.

Dot (June Brown) has her son's coffin brought to her home in the days leading up to the service, wanting to feel close to him at this difficult time.

Funeral director Les Coker and Dot's grandson Charlie (Declan Bennett) make the arrangements for her, although some of Dot's friends are growing suspicious of Charlie and his intentions as he seems to be behaving shiftily.

On the morning of the service, Sharon and Fatboy fear that there'll be a low turn-out as everyone who knew Nick hated him, but a few of the local residents decide to attend in support of Dot.

It's clear that Dot is struggling on the sad day, but will she be satisfied by the send-off that Nick gets?

Monday

The repercussions of the trial are felt all round.

Meanwhile, it's the week of Nick Cotton's funeral. Charlie tries his best to comfort Dot by inviting the vicar over, but his plan almost backfires when the vicar's nephew Tim arrives instead. Dot eventually gives Tim a chance and starts to reminisce about Nick. She then makes a surprising request to Charlie - she wants to have Nick's body brought to her home.

Elsewhere, Tamwar is feeling down, so his loved ones launch a mission to cheer him up. Shabnam isn't pleased when Jane's plan to do so is more successful than hers.

Tuesday

Nick's funeral day has arrived. Sharon and Fatboy fear that there'll be a low turn-out at the service, but a few of the local residents decide to attend in support of Dot. Later at the crematorium, the service quickly goes wrong when it's revealed that Ian has lost his speech. Fortunately, he is soon reunited with the speech and his words comfort Dot.

At the wake, there are further problems when it becomes clear how everyone really felt about Nick. Phil also sparks trouble by revealing something that Ian wanted to keep hidden. Dot is furious over what's happening as she feels that her friends have ruined Nick's send-off.

Meanwhile, Phil has to go to the funeral alone when Sharon is preoccupied with an unexpected problem at the bar. Noticing that Shirley is alone, Phil is on hand to offer her some comfort…

Elsewhere, Billy wants to be part of Lucy's new business, but she isn't convinced that taking him on would be a good idea.

Also, there is more drama for the Carters as Johnny is furious when Linda mistakes his friendliness with a customer for flirting and makes her true feelings known.

Finally, Cora's actions with regard to Nick upset Dot, causing Dot to turn against Patrick.

Thursday

As Dot storms out from The Vic, tempers flare up as everyone blames each other for ruining the day. Dot is more eager to see Nick than ever, so she demands that Charlie takes her to the crematorium to see the body. Once there, Les and Charlie both protest but Dot is adamant. What will they do?

Meanwhile, Ronnie and Charlie hit it off.

Elsewhere, Sharon reveals the bar's new name to Phil, but she is also furious with him after the funeral fiasco. Phil tries to convince Sharon to forgive him, but it's clear that this isn't the only thing on Sharon's mind when she questions him about Shirley.

Also today, Peter convinces Lucy to go into business with Lauren. Lauren isn't sure that it's a good idea at first, especially as Max claims that it's a silly idea. However, she is eventually persuaded to go along with it.

Finally, Mick convinces Johnny to make peace with Linda, while Patrick demands that Cora moves out when she pushes him too far.

Friday

When Mick receives a phone call about Stan's welfare, he initially claims that he isn't interested. However, Linda convinces him to pay a visit to his father. As Mick arrives, he finds Stan's front door ajar and goes in to investigate…

Meanwhile, Lucy and Lauren have an unsuccessful meeting with the bank, and things get worse when Max refuses to give them a loan. Soon afterwards, though, Lucy reveals that she persuaded Max to change his mind. Lauren is delighted until she discovers that Jake has designed their new website. She quits in protest and Lucy confesses that she lied, but she promises that there will be no further involvement from Jake. Lucy also vows that there will be no more secrets between them, but can she stick to that?

Elsewhere, Ian gets caught up in a moment with Jane and kisses her, leaving her furious. As she leaves, Jane crashes into Max. Jane soon tracks Max down again to make peace with him, but he also misinterprets her friendship. When Dot finds Jane upset at the launderette, she gives her some advice and this prompts Jane to make a decision.

Also today, Ronnie hastily agrees to a birthday party for Roxy at The Vic, as Roxy is upset that she hasn't arranged anything special. Ronnie then makes a suspicious phone call. Later, Roxy gets friendly with Aleks at the party.

Finally, Tina's behaviour annoys Tosh when she puts the party before her, while Johnny appears to have jumped ship from The Vic when he lands a job at Sharon's bar.

Stacey Branning has another important decision to make on EastEnders next week in the aftermath of Janine Butcher's murder trial.

Viewers have been wondering what the future holds for Stacey (Lacey Turner) after a jury found Janine not guilty in Thursday night's episode.

In the next visit to Walford on Monday (March 24), it's revealed that Janine has kept her promise to Kat Moon by dropping her false claims about being stabbed by Stacey.

The news means that Stacey can be on Albert Square without having to hide herself away, but as she comes face-to-face with many of its residents, not all of them give her a warm welcome back.

Roxy Mitchell (Rita Simons) is particularly unhappy as she is still unable to forgive Stacey for killing Archie.

EastEnders legend Dot Branning demands to see the body of her late son Nick Cotton this evening (March 27) after his funeral day descends into a shambles.

Tonight's episodes see Nick get a low-key send-off at the crematorium, with a handful of Albert Square's residents in attendance to support Dot (June Brown).

While everyone pays their respects during the service itself, their true feelings about Nick soon become clear at the wake - leaving Dot horrified by the insensitive behaviour of her so-called friends.

Wanting comfort, Dot insists that her grandson Charlie (Declan Bennett) accompanies her on a trip back to the crematorium so that she can have the coffin opened and see Nick's face one last time.

Determined to make sure that Dot doesn't see inside the coffin, what will Charlie do?
