Holby City has been criticised for including scenes where an obsessive One Direction fan made threats against Little Mix's Perrie Edwards.

In last night's (March 11) episode, a Zayn Malik fan was admitted to hospital after fainting at one of the boyband's signings, and proceeded to tell nurse Bonnie (Carlyss Peer) about the lengths she would go to for the group.

l worked out, all I have to do is track down Perrie Edwards, cut off her head with a rusty chainsaw, marry Zayn and have all his babies."

The scenes upset the Little Mix singer's mother, Deborah Edwards, who took to Twitter to complain.

She posted: "Anyone watching Holby city ??? Really upset.com x"

Fans of the singer also voiced their disapproval, with some even making formal complaints to the BBC after the episode.

Meanwhile, Little Mix have hit back at people who have criticised Perrie Edwards for being "too pale".

Edwards told OK! magazine that she regularly receives abuse online over her skin tone.
