Coming up on Emmerdale, Alicia Metcalfe is in for a shock when she discovers that her sister Leyla has started working as a stripper.

Alicia (Natalie Anderson) arranges a meeting with Leyla in the New Year as she wants to resolve the recent tension between them, and she soon sees that her sibling has fallen into hard times.

When Alicia spots that Leyla (Roxy Shahidi) has a black eye, she becomes curious and follows her at the end of their meeting. To her surprise, she ends up following Leyla into a strip club.

Inside, Alicia is quick to express disapproval over Leyla's new line of work, but the atmosphere soon thaws as Alicia starts to feel sorry for her sister's hopeless situation.

Soon afterwards, Alicia and Leyla's happiness is short-lived as they're arrested on suspicion of soliciting for prostitution during a raid at the club and taken to a police station!

Monday

A man appears in the village looking for Val, and Finn points him in the direction of the pub. As the man arrives, Val sees him and hides in the back. Diane tries to get rid of him, but can see that he really needs to speak with Val.

Later, the man finally catches up with Val and it soon transpires that the pair have had a fling in Portugal. Val makes it clear to the man, now known to be Ian, that there will be no repeat performance.

Meanwhile, DC Morden and DS Reed visit the Dingles and ask Sam about his Christmas jumper. Sam and Rachel become desperate when they cannot find it, and Morden and Reed inform them that a similar one has been found at Home Farm. The police visit Declan to update him on their new findings. Declan's confidence is growing by the minute, as it seems the plan is coming off.

Elsewhere, Betty picks up on Ruby and Dan's closeness and whilst the pair manage to throw her off scent, Bob is suddenly alerted to their behaviour. The expectant parents share their news with him. At the same time, Kerry blabs the pregnancy news to the factory floor. With the secret well and truly out, surely it's time to tell the kids?

Also today, Finn and Victoria both struggle to settle in their new jobs.


Tuesday

Val is overwhelmed by having to keep such a big secret and finds herself calling Ian, believing that he is the only one she can talk to.

Later, they meet in a local park and Ian shows Val pictures of his family, telling her that he has been honest with them about the whole situation. He gets upset as he talks about his indiscretions.

Meanwhile, when the police further probe Sam about his jumper, Sam confidently asserts that if the jumper they have found is his, it won't have anything on it to incriminate him. However, Rachel thinks the situation could be more sinister than that, believing someone is trying to set Sam up.

When Lisa questions Sam and Rachel about their behaviour and recent events, they're forced to tell the truth. But when Rachel suggests it's Declan and Charity who are trying to frame Sam, Lisa won't hear of it. Charity wouldn't do that to her own, would she?

Elsewhere, the parents tell Sean and Amelia that Ruby is pregnant. Amelia is super excited and Sean too, despite putting on a cool facade. But as Ruby prepares to go for her first appointment, she starts to feel a pain. Soon she is bent over double and Bob is quick to assert that she needs to go straight to hospital. Will Ruby and the baby be okay?


Wednesday

Val is in a complete mess and is taking out her frustrations on Eric, who can't comprehend her sudden hostile behaviour. Diane lays it on the line - she is not keeping her mouth shut much longer.

Later, Eric continues to try to make it up to Val, but she shuts him out again.

Meanwhile, Alicia is worried about Jacob and is conflicted about ringing Leyla, but David is adamant that it's a bad idea. But after a shock outburst from Jacob, Alicia and David realise what a big deal Leyla's presence would be to him.

Elsewhere, Ali tries to comfort an upset Ruby after losing the baby, telling her they'll never forget their baby and she'll always be a mum to Sean and Amelia. Later, Dan breaks the news about Ruby losing the baby to a gutted Sean and Amelia. Ruby puts on a brave face in front of the family and is touched by Amelia's efforts to cheer her up.

Also today, Georgia and Rishi worry about Priya's pregnancy sickness and urge her to see a doctor.

Finally, Cain and Marlon worry about Sam. Marlon offers Sam some gardening work.


Thursday

Alicia is adamant that she and Leyla need to meet, and she won't take no for an answer. When they meet, Alicia sees that Leyla has a black eye and suggests that she could come to visit Jacob. Alicia offers to drop Leyla back off in town. Leyla kisses her goodbye and hurries away.

Buoyed by curiosity, Alicia decides to follow Leyla. Unbeknown to Leyla and Alicia, an unmarked police car watches them as they both enter the strip club. Inside, Leyla has vanished but Alicia is horrified as they announce her name over the speaker and Leyla bursts through the curtain and begins her routine…

Meanwhile, David is concerned to hear that Priya is still suffering from morning sickness. At the same time, Priya searches the internet for 'eating and pregnancy'. Georgia arrives with soup, but Priya makes her excuses and refuses to touch it. When David arrives, she begrudgingly accepts his offer of a lift to the doctors.

Later, a frustrated Priya waits for David, but he lets her down. Priya fumes as she rings a taxi, defiant and insisting that she doesn't need anyone.

Elsewhere, Val can't bring herself to tell Eric the reason she is acting strangely. Upset and needing to be alone, Val locks herself in the bathroom. Eric tries to coax her out but she can't bring herself to tell the truth, blaming women's problems. She is troubled, as she knows she can't keep her secret forever.

Also, Ruby is relieved that Ali is not giving up on their baby dreams.

Finally, Megan is about to be released from hospital, but with no home to go to, Declan takes matters into his own hands and commandeers Brook Cottage.

At the strip club, a furious Alicia follows Leyla as she rushes away, to the disapproval of the bouncer and punters. Leyla is peeved when an unimpressed Alicia voices her displeasure regarding her line of work, but the atmosphere soon thaws as Alicia starts to feel sorry for her sister's hopeless situation.

Soon afterwards, Alicia and Leyla's happiness is short-lived as they're arrested on suspicion of soliciting for prostitution during a raid at the club and taken to a police station...

Meanwhile, Priya is concerned when the doctor questions her about her weight and is eager to leave when the doctor offers her support to deal with her eating problem. At the same time, Jai is alarmed when David mentions Priya's inability to keep food down and he confronts her about it. Defensive, Priya warns him off and insists that she's fine.

Elsewhere, Harriet is eager to defuse the situation as Rachel publicly accuses Declan of framing Sam.

Also today, Dom finds out that Declan has evicted him from Brook Cottage, but Vanessa offers him and Gemma a place to live.


Friday

Released from the cells, Leyla and Alicia are apprehensive about going back to the club to retrieve Leyla's belongings. The girls are busted when the club bouncer confronts them about stealing a wad of money from the club as they make their way out with her bags. However, full of adrenaline, they manage to run away.

Back in the village, Alicia and Leyla are shocked when a livid David puts his foot down, declaring that he doesn't want Leyla staying, not even for a day or two. Can Alicia change his mind?

Meanwhile, Sam questions whether Declan could have set him up by planting his jumper. Charity adamantly denies it and scares a confused Sam into considering fleeing with Rachel and the kids before the police can charge him.

Cain later pushes Charity for inside information on Declan following Rachel's accusations and she promises to try to find out. Cain and Zak manage to brighten Sam by discussing the wedding plans, much to the annoyance of Declan, who is worried that Charity's plan to get rid of Sam isn't working.

Elsewhere, Priya tries to reassure Jai, but later on guiltily seizes the opportunity to bin her meal.

Also today, Brenda is hit by an unexpected wave of grief as she talks about Gennie, while Rachel is touched when Ali gives her their mum's wedding dress.
