Afterwards, Phil finally agrees that The Vic is Janine's.

Later, however, we see that Ian has a hidden engagement ring…

Meanwhile, David drives Carol to her hospital appointment. She hasn't told him the reason for the appointment, but David finds out the truth when he rushes inside after her. It's Christmas Day on Albert Square. Janine turns up at the Butcher house under the pretence of wanting to spend Christmas with the family, but really she is desperate to get her hands on the recording. When David catches Janine rifling through his belongings upstairs, the two argue and David plays back her confession to reiterate the evidence he has against her. Afterwards. Janine calls Billy and tells him that the plan to kill David is on, but a nervous Billy pulls out and leaves Janine well and truly on her own.
Later, there is more tension at the Butcher house when Nikki tells Bianca that Terry still has feelings for her and always will. Things get worse when Nikki accidentally spills gravy on Bianca during Christmas dinner. A huge food fight ensues and Bianca ends up telling Terry and his whole family to leave. David and Carol are left to comfort Bianca. Once the former couple are alone, Carol becomes emotional and shares a passionate kiss with David. However, they are interrupted when David receives a text from Janine, who wants to meet him.
A car accelerates, heading for David
A car accelerates, heading for David
David heads out to see Janine but as he stands outside Butcher's Joints waiting for her, a car accelerates from nowhere and heads straight for him. David is sent crashing to the ground and lies motionless - is he dead? Afterwards, as time ticks for Janine, her lies look set to be exposed and the pressure mounts. Janine once again takes matters into her own hands, but will she be caught or will she flee Walford before the truth comes out?
At the same time, Tiffany discovers David's phone in her coat pocket, where he has secretly stashed it for safekeeping. When Carol finds the phone, she listens to the recording and is left in a state of shock, sickened by both Janine and David's actions. What will she do?
Meanwhile, as the Mitchell/Beale Christmas dinner gets under way, Pete gets cold feet about telling everyone about his romance with Lola as the tension between the two families is evident. Realising that Peter isn't going to say anything, Lola blurts out the truth instead. Phil is seemingly accepting of the news, but once alone with Ian, he orders his long-time rival to split the young lovebirds up.
Elsewhere, as Janine's time has run out to buy The Vic, he calls his other potential buyer and tells him that the deal is on if he can get the cash to him quickly. He doesn't realise that the man in question, Mick Carter, is already at The Vic. Phil waits in the Square for Mick and the deal goes ahead. Mick is the new landlord of The Vic, but Phil has no idea who he is related to!
Also today, just as things couldn't look worse for Kat and Alfie, a surprising gift comes their way.
Thursday
Alfie hopes that the sale of The Vic will have fallen through following recent events, but this proves not to be the case when Phil warns him to be out by midday. As Kat and Alfie make the move over to Number 23, speculation is rife among the locals about who has bought the pub. At the same time, Shirley seems to be in a good mood following a mysterious phone call.
Later, Kat and Alfie are grateful as a number of the locals have helped them to move their belongings out, so they decide to run a cheap bar at The Vic. When Phil hears about this, he tries to throw everyone out, but Shirley refuses to leave. As the former couple are about to argue, Mick and his family arrive. Shirley is delighted as she announces that The Vic's new owner is her brother…

Also today, Terry tries to make amends with Bianca but she doesn't want to hear it.
Friday
Linda isn't pleased when she discovers that Mick has agreed to let Tina and Shirley move in, but Mick eventually convinces her to give them a chance. The Carters rally together to get the pub ready, but there is hardly any stock left after Kat and Alfie's cheap bar. Linda and Shirley almost come to blows as the pressure builds, but Mick intervenes.
When Mick approaches Kat and Alfie for some help, they refuse. Shirley is forced to flintily ask Phil for help and he makes it clear that he is interested in her. Will Shirley reignite their romantic spark?
Later, Alfie arrives with supplies after all following a change of heart. Alfie and Mick start to form a friendship and it's not long before The Vic opens with the Carters in charge for the first time. Sharon is angry with Phil for inadvertently selling The Vic to the Carters, which prompts Shirley to rub it in her face. Shirley is pleasantly surprised as Phil seems happy for her, while Sharon and Linda soon bond over their mutual dislike of Shirley.
Meanwhile, Peter is missing Lola and soon has another problem to deal with when he finds Cindy's secret stash of money. Realising that she was the thief on the camping trip, Peter wonders whether the Beales can get Phil on side by giving the money back. However, Ian warns him not to say anything to Phil.
