Neighbours fans will see Lauren Turner's mother pay a visit to Ramsay Street next year.
Actress Tina Bursill has been cast in the role and she will begin filming next year, a spokesman confirmed today.
Long-term Neighbours viewers will know that Lauren's mum is called Kathy and she is the former wife of Lou Carpenter.
Lauren is currently facing a testing time on screen as she battles with conflicted feelings for former boyfriend Brad Willis. Australian viewers will soon see her confide in Lucy Robinson that she is harbouring a big secret.
Bursill's previous credits include Home and Away, where she played schoolteacher Lois Crawford in 1992, and then played Stella Patterson in 2001 to 2002.
Neighbours airs these scenes over the next few weeks on Eleven in Australia and in January on Channel 5 in the UK.
