Former Coronation Street star John Michie makes his first appearance in Holby City next week.

As announced in July, Michie has joined the regular cast of the BBC One medical drama, playing consultant neurosurgeon Guy Self.

Newcomer Guy meets Serena Campbell

Guy arrives at the hospital just as the team are dealing with the aftermath of a roof collapse at the local swimming pool.

Already focusing on the stressful situation, a rattled Serena Campbell (Catherine Russell) doesn't know who Guy is and is shocked when he introduces himself as her new CEO.

Things then get worse as Guy and Serena are soon clashing over the best way to deal with two patients who have been brought into the hospital following the pool accident.

Serena is dismayed to find out that Guy has no track record in management, but he is sure that he's the right man for the job and is ready to make some big changes at Holby. How will Serena cope with Guy's arrival?

Michie bowed out from Coronation Street as killer Karl Munro earlier in the year.

Holby City airs Guy's first episode on Tuesday, November 26 at 8pm on BBC One.
