Monday episode 5851 - 14/10/13

Dex prematurely alerts the world to their engagement via facebook and April’s not pleased. Nate is shocked that April would get married so young – he thought she was more career focused, causing her to doubt her decision. However, she can’t help but be charmed by Dex’s excitement and realises they’re meant to be.

Josh is still in a lot of pain, physically and emotionally, after being shot by his mother and his brother being arrested. Nate’s concerned Josh could develop pneumonia and is impressed by Ricky being there for Josh. Josh is confused and upset when Ricky tells him that Brax sent her to watch over him. Nate persuades Josh not to push Ricky away. Ricky wants to help him. Later, Ricky comes home to a quiet, empty house. She looks through her camera to see pictures of Brax, and suddenly a life without him is all too real.

Zac urges Oscar to make some friends in Summer Bay. Oscar approaches Sasha and Spencer, telling them he’s new in town. Spencer realises who Oscar is and reveals he met Evelyn at the seminar yesterday. He gives Oscar the notes Evie passed on. Seeing he’s upset, Sasha tracks down Oscar who reveals Spencer is in danger. The cult is trying to recruit him and Evelyn’s note was a warning. Spencer doesn’t believe Oscar and is upset that Sasha won’t support his decision to continue going to the lodge.

Murray is pleased with Evelyn’s work recruiting Spencer. He tells her that she’ll be back with her father after the discovery weekend. Evelyn’s apprehensive about what that means for her – she wants to see her father, but no one knows what happens at the discovery weekend. Freya, a follower of Murray’s, has been to the discovery weekend and, desperate to discover the truth, Evelyn questions her about what happened. Freya goes to Murray and Murray is disappointed in Evelyn’s questioning. Wondering why Freya dobbed her in, Evie seeks her out and is warned by Freya not to go to the discovery weekend – terrible things happen there. Spencer is seduced by the cult, and Murray offers for him to stay at the lodge.

Tuesday episode 5852 - 15/10/13

No one is allowed to see Brax yet, and any appeal could take months. Ricky is overwhelmed and the brothers are left to make decisions about Angelo’s. Heath feels the pressure. With everyone assembled Heath asks what they should do about the business. The options are to sell or reopen. If they sell they have money for Brax’s appeal, however Kyle thinks they need to keep Angelo’s open for continuous cash flow. Casey riles up against Heath’s attempt at being Brax, but Tamara keeps him calm.

Evelyn is dismayed that Spencer has arrived at Sanctuary Lodge. She tries to convince him to leave, but he won’t be swayed. However, he won’t rat her out to Murray about her letter to Oscar. Murray is pleased to see Evelyn interacting with Spencer and reveals Freya has gone. Sasha goes to the lodge to try and convince Spencer to leave with her and Murray gets Evelyn to escort Sasha from the property. Evelyn puts on a show of throwing Sasha out, but when they’re away from Murray reveals she will help Spencer any way she can and get evidence to help stop Murray. Meanwhile, Zac goes to Leah for help about Oscar’s behaviour. Leah reminds Zac he’s gone from being single to a parent overnight – Oscar’s not the only one who’s world’s been turned upside down. Murray asks Spencer to attend the next discovery weekend with Evelyn.

Bianca has been asked to take in a number of Mangrove River High students after their school burnt down. Heath tells her not to take any – Mangrove River kids are bad news. He should know, he went there. However, he later recants – they’re not that bad. Bianca is overwhelmed by the problems presented by Mangrove River students and Heath is hurt. Does she think that Mangrove River kids can’t mix with the Summer Bay crowd? His confidence battered, Kyle tells him that he should keep studying and ask Bianca for help. Heath’s insecurities prevent him from being honest with Bianca about his interest in studying. Kyle, prompted by Heath’s bitterness, approaches Bianca to convince her not to give up on the Mangrove River kids. He also tells her about Heath’s ambitions. Bianca’s shocked that he has kept his study from her, but Ricky warns her that Heath’s had his intelligence doubted his whole life. Bianca understands, and tells the Department she’ll take on the Mangrove River students.

Wednesday episode 5853 - 16/10/13

Casey wants to return to work, but Indi’s concerned with his health. If he gets approval from his doctor she’ll let him return. Tamara gives Casey a romantic surprise when she sets up a beautiful date. She wants to pamper him after all he’s been through. Kyle can’t help but feel left out when he sees Casey and Tamara together.

Bianca has a positive meeting with the principal of Mangrove River High – Ms Montgomery. Bianca’s pleased, until Heath finds out that the principal of Mangrove River High is Ms Montgomery – the Sniper. She’s the principal who dobbed him into the cops, and the reason he went to juvenile detention. They have a nasty run in at the Diner. It is clear Montgomery still sees Heath as a loser. Montgomery tells Bianca there’s been an error – that she has been listed as Vice Principal when she should be principal. Bianca tells her that there’s no error. Bianca is principal. Montgomery warns Bianca that she needs to relinquish her position, or the merge will be a disaster. Bolstered by Bianca’s support of him, Heath begins studying again. He’s going to prove Montgomery wrong.

Jett is heartbroken when Nina unexpectedly breaks up with him. John and Marilyn can’t understand what might have happened. Jett’s convinced he’s done something wrong. Marilyn suggests he and Nina work through their issues. John suggests Jett grovel. Jett contacts Nina who tearfully reveals that her parents are worried about the school merge and are sending her to an interstate boarding school.

Robyn is still sticking around the Bay and overhears Irene and Marilyn talking about Indi’s loss. This gives her an idea to explain her strange behaviour and win Chris’ sympathy. She tells Chris and Indi that her father was sick and died last a few days ago. Chris and Indi are both immediately sympathetic, and offer her support. Robyn enjoys using her lie to spend time with Chris and when she goes to meet Chris for a ‘date’ where he plans to console her, she spots Kyle pining over Tamara. Robyn advises Kyle if he lies about a terrible personal loss, Tamara will be putty in his hands. Kyle realises Robyn’s been lying and tips Chris and Indi off. Indi is angry that Robyn would make that up just to get attention.

Thursday episode 5854 - 16/10/13

After a visit from the police, Roo tells Maddy that there’s footage of her and Josh prior to the fire at Mangrove River High and they’re suspects in an arson case. Maddy and Josh are innocent, but Roo’s concerned that Josh may be involved. She wants Maddy to stop seeing Josh. Maddy angrily counters that Roo will have a hard time stopping her. She tells Josh about their predicament and asks him whether he had anything to do with it. He’s upset she even had to ask him. Stevenson shows up to question Josh, and Maddy stands up for him. Roo comes to see Josh in hospital and asks him to let Maddy go for her own good. Josh understands Maddy’s lucky to have someone like Roo. He won’t see Maddy anymore to drag her down. He regretfully breaks up with Maddy.

Indi’s incensed about Robyn’s lie. Marilyn and Irene realise Robyn overheard them talking about Indi’s grief. She confronts Robyn, accusing her of using Indi’s grief and the memory of the man she loved to use Chris in her twisted game. Speaking from her hurt, Indi’s been quite harsh. Chris goes after Robyn and consoles her. He apologises for not treating Robyn with the respect she deserved. He was a coward and he didn’t want to hurt her. Robyn decides to leave the bay and she parts on good terms with both Chris and Indi.

Jett’s still mourning the end of his relationship with Nina. Marilyn offers to have dinner with Jett and John to cheer him up, and Jett senses an opportunity to bring John and Marilyn together. At dinner, Jett, who’s sick of everyone being flippant about his broken heart, suggests John take his own advice and move forward with Marilyn. Seeing Jett unhappy outside the surf club, Indi comes to talk to him. She tells Jett to remember the good times he had with Nina. She’s forced to think about Romeo – and tells Jett he’ll always remember his first love. Indi realises that she’s not completely moved on. She’s grateful that Chris has been there for her. Marilyn and John reflect on what Jett said. John summons his courage and reveals his true feelings to Marilyn. They’re both delighted to realise they feel the same way, but now they have to navigate a new relationship.

Thursday episode 5855 - 16/10/13

John and Marilyn talk about their relationship and how they’re going to handle it. They decide to proceed with baby steps – a first date. Brunch! Their first kiss is interrupted by Maddy storming in to confront Roo about Josh breaking up with her. Maddy hits the nail on the head when she accuses Roo of meddling because she misses Harvey. Roo urges Maddy to respect Josh’s decision. As Marilyn prepares to go on her first date with John, Roo clocks there’s something going on. However, she’s prevented from guessing that romance is in the air when she receives a phone call – Harvey is missing at sea. John, Marilyn and Maddy all band together to help Roo, with John contacting his Navy mates. Roo asks them to keep Harvey’s disappearance from Alf while he’s in America. Meanwhile, Nate urges Josh not to push people away, especially not Maddy. With all the worry about Harvey, John and Marilyn decide to keep their relationship secret. When Maddy goes to visit Josh, she and Nate discover he is missing.

Heath comes to Dex for tutoring. After his run in with Montgomery he has renewed enthusiasm for making something of himself. Heath struggles to keep up with his study, and begins to self-doubt. Dex challenges Heath and they’re both happy when Heath shows he knows more than he thought.

Montgomery interrupts April and Bianca’s happy breakfast meeting to go over the plan for the school merge. Bianca and Montgomery clash over plans, and Bianca suggests they try and get to know each other over dinner. After a more pleasant than anticipated dinner, Bianca is almost looking forward to the new school day until Heath arrives. When Montgomery treats him badly, Bianca asks her if this is how she treats the students. They need someone who is understanding, not someone who expects them to fail. Montgomery is amused – her students are going to eat Bianca alive. Bianca’s not so sure about that. It’s game on.
