Emmerdale's Amy Wyatt will launch a dramatic rescue attempt next month after her young son Kyle falls into a river.
The accident occurs while Amy is spending quality time with Kyle under supervision from the youngster's adoptive grandmother Joanie (Denise Black).
Joanie is horrified to discover Amy's true identity later this week, but she eventually agrees to continue giving her access to Kyle despite her deception.
Chelsea Halfpenny, who plays Amy, told Soaplife: "Joanie, Amy, Kyle and Val go on a picnic. Amy's playing Poohsticks with Kyle by the river, a game she liked to play when she was younger.
"She's not used to looking after a toddler, though. She takes her eyes off Kyle for ten seconds - and he falls into the river."Viewers will then see Amy jump into the water and frantically drag Kyle's motionless body out, leaving everyone to wonder whether he will be okay.
Halfpenny added: "The viewers will be on tenterhooks. It's very dramatic. Amy can see Kyle stuck by a tree and tangled in weeds. She's screaming his name and desperate to reach him."
Emmerdale airs these scenes on Tuesday, October 8 at 7pm on ITV.

Cameron escapes really pleased as since his arrest its been boring rhona and paddy amy and kyle . some nice bits with moira and csin but as there breaking them up i dont see the point. i take it moira finds out that cain kills cameron and ends it and as she is living at farm with her dead husbands brother she ends up with him though wonder if she with cain again as i heard moira is pregnant by xmas and a huge story is supposdly planned
i wanna see cain's reaction to seeing his son, he must see him when amy has the wee boy around emmerdale

Over on Emmerdale, Amy Wyatt's attempts to prove herself to Joanie Wright end in disaster.
Amy (Chelsea Halfpenny) is delighted next month as a forgiving Joanie agrees to give her another chance despite her recent lies.
Joanie (Denise Black) agrees that Amy can have some access to her baby son Kyle with supervision, so the pair take the youngster down to the river along with Val.
As Val tries to make some awkward conversation with Joanie, Amy plays with Kyle but is horrified when he suddenly falls into the river.
Amy jumps into the water in a bid to rescue Kyle and manages to get him out, hurting her knee in the process. A frantic Joanie calls an ambulance while Amy cradles her motionless son…

Monday
Joanie visits Amy and tells her that they need to have some ground rules before she can see Kyle. Joanie reveals her requests, but Amy is gutted that she doesn't trust her.
Later, Pollard is exasperated as he stops Val from going over to Amy's. She then refuses to go on holiday, adamant that she's needed in the village. As Pollard leaves, he tells Amy that he loves her and asks Val to take care of her.
Meanwhile, Edna is uneasy as Ashley receives his divorce papers in the post. She is becoming increasingly wary of him. Soon afterwards, Laurel visits Ashley in the church. He is upset as she tells him that she wants them to remain friends. Ashley leaves and Laurel realises there's more to the situation when Edna tells her about his temper. Edna tries to offer support to Ashley, but he gets angry when he realises she's been talking to Laurel about him. Edna is scared of his temper, and he is horrified to see that she is frightened of what he might do.
Elsewhere, Marlon thinks Paddy should go to see Rhona, and he and Vanessa are relieved when Paddy reluctantly agrees to think about it. However, when Paddy realises they have manipulated him, he is furious and snaps at Marlon. Paddy returns home to find a concerned Chas sitting on the doorstep. She tries to tell him that he needs to talk to Rhona, but he doesn't want anyone interfering and tells her to back off.
Also today, Rachel is annoyed that Lisa had Archie's hair cut, leaving Belle worried by their rift.
Finally, Ali admits to Rachel that Ruby still wants a baby but is struggling to find a way, even though there is always Dan's offer to help.
Tuesday
Hour-long episode
Amy calls after Kyle.
Val and Amy feel guilty about how they've treated Eric, but a nervous Amy is hopeful they can get Joanie back on side. Soon afterwards, Amy brightens as an uncomfortable Joanie appears to soften. Along with Val, they take Kyle down to the river.

A reluctant Paddy allows Chas to come for a run with him, but is pleased when he makes amends with her and suggests a day out. Paddy and Chas are relaxing and enjoying themselves with a game of bowling. However, Paddy is completely thrown when he sees Rhona walk in. Chas takes matters into her own hands when Paddy won't approach Rhona. She hopes she has done the right thing when she sends Rhona over to talk. Will Paddy tell Rhona how he's really feeling?
Elsewhere, Ashley apologises to an unconvinced Edna for snapping at her. She advises him to stay away from Laurel and start rebuilding his life by concentrating on his calling from God. At the same time, Marlon covers his frustration as Laurel worries about Ashley. They are thankful to Ashley for sending through the divorce papers, but are thrown when he tells them that he wants to take their wedding service. Marlon tells Laurel there is no way, but upon seeing Ashley's determination to get his license back, will Laurel agree?
Also today, Sean and Kerry are unimpressed about Dan's plans to father Ruby and Ali's baby.
Finally, Rodney is on a 'date' when Rishi spots him. Rodney tells Rishi the truth and promises to end his escort job if he doesn't tell Georgia.
Wednesday
Val gives Amy the number for social services. Victoria worries about how determined she is to get Kyle back, but Andy offers his support. Val is smug as she fills Kerry in on Amy's situation and Kerry is hurt that Amy has kept her in the dark.
Later that day, Joanie overhears Kerry telling Dan how Amy is going to social services to get Kyle. Kerry is mortified and she desperately tries to persuade Joanie that she has got it wrong about Amy, but fails to do so. How will Amy react when Joanie confronts her about her plans?
Meanwhile, Paddy and Chas confide in each other over a bottle of wine. Paddy admits that his marriage to Rhona is over, but he doesn't want to hinder her progress. Marlon is suspicious as he watches Paddy and Chas's sudden closeness as they take comfort in each other and get tipsier and tipsier. It looks like Marlon was right to have his suspicions when a drunken Paddy goes to kiss Chas…
Elsewhere, Andy and the Dingles are concerned to hear Debbie admit that she may need a fresh start away from the village. Chas is disgusted at how easily the Dingles have welcomed Debbie back and gives them an ultimatum - her or Debbie.
Also today, Ruby and Ali regretfully tell Dan and Kerry that they'll no longer need him in their baby plans.
Thursday
Away from the Emmerdale village, killer Cameron is being escorted in a prison van with another prisoner. Suddenly, they come across a road ambush and the prison guards are panicked to realise what is happening. They are terrified when the hooded men show them pictures of their loved ones and threaten to cause them harm.
Soon the guards comply with the men's demands and the prison van is unlocked. Cameron is handed an overnight bag and passport. Both of the prisoners are now outside the van and free. Cameron has escaped - but where is he headed?
Meanwhile, Paddy and Chas are in turmoil as Vanessa and Marlon voice their disgust about them spending the night together. Chas pleads with Vanessa not to tell Rhona, and an angry Marlon tells Paddy that he'll never forgive him if he doesn't fight to save his marriage. Later, Chas is thrown when Paddy admits that he is not sure if what happened between them was a mistake. He adds that living with her was one of the happiest times in his life, and he thinks they could be good together again. Will Chas agree?
Elsewhere, Ali is put out when Ruby suggests they work extra shifts to pay for artificial insemination. She later feels guilty as she tells a narked Sean that she doesn't have the money for his school trip as they're putting it towards the treatment.
Also, Amy is furious when she realises that it was Kerry who let slip to Joanie about the custody fight.
Finally, Chas tells Debbie that her apologies will never be enough.
Debbie is confused to receive silent phone calls. Cameron puts away his phone and then hitches a ride.
Later, Debbie and Chas are in The Woolpack when DC Flanagan tells them the news - Cameron has escaped. Debbie is worried that Cameron will be heading back to get his revenge. However, we see Cameron at a ferry terminal - what is his plan?
Meanwhile, Paddy begins to wonder if he has made a huge mistake with Chas as she lets him down gently. He is also gutted when Vanessa reveals that she has told Rhona everything. Paddy and Marlon are furious with her, worried the revelation will set Rhona back. Paddy feels guilty when Vanessa reminds that him his marriage is over and he realises he does still love Rhona, but he thinks it may be too late. Vanessa tells Paddy it may not be too late, as she hasn't been completely honest...
Elsewhere, Ruby is resentful as Ali gives Sean the money he needs for his school trip. Ali tells a heartbroken Ruby that she can't just drop the kids to do overtime for their new baby and they'll soon work something out to enable them to get the treatment. Unseen by Ali, Ruby rings a mysterious number and tells them she needs to see them soon.
Also, Andy tells Amy that although he doesn't like what she's doing with Kyle, he'll support her throughout.
Finally, Alicia is uncomfortable as Priya relays her hen-do rules and David announces that he's not having a stag night, leaving everyone stunned.
Friday
As news spreads about Cameron's escape and disappearance, both Chas and Debbie are living in fear, knowing his anger against them for what they did. Debbie tries to busy herself with work, but the mystery calls soon break her bravado as she slumps down distraught.
Soon Debbie's mind is put at rest when the police show her CCTV footage of Cameron boarding a ferry. However, with Debbie's mind assuaged, is it all as it seems?
Meanwhile, Paddy is torn as he decides whether to tell Rhona about his night with Chas, leaving Marlon and Laurel exasperated as they advise him against it. Chas is not in the mood to discuss Paddy's marriage issues with him, so she tells him to see Rhona and sort it out between themselves. Laurel is alarmed that Paddy still wants to tell Rhona.
Elsewhere, Ali is put out as Ruby rushes off suspiciously with Lindy, Ruby's mysterious caller. It soon becomes clear that Lindy is Ruby's mum and that their mother/daughter relationship isn't great. Ruby tries to deter her from sticking around as she dreads telling Ali that Lindy is her mum. Ali is stunned when the reason becomes clear why!
Also today, a severe weather storm with high winds and heavy rain hits Emmerdale village.
Finally, Rishi is suspicious of Rodney's nocturnal activities and issues Rodney with a final warning - his escorting days really have to be over or he'll tell Georgia.
Monday
