Meanwhile, Emmerdale's Amy Wyatt and Andy Sugden could be about to become a proper couple.
Andy (Kelvin Fletcher) has a surprise in store for Amy next month just when she needs cheering up.
Amy (Chelsea Halfpenny) is distraught when baby Kyle's adoptive grandmother Joanie Wright discovers her deception and bans her from having any further contact with the youngster.
Val, Victoria and Kerry all try their best to get a depressed Amy smiling again, but their efforts fail miserably as Amy storms out and tells them all to leave her alone.
Later on, Andy explains that he needs to straighten things out and confesses his strong feelings for Amy. Will his admission be what finally makes her happy?

Emmerdale airs these scenes on Monday, September 30 at 7pm on ITV.
Emmerdale vet Paddy Kirk makes a devastating decision in tonight's episode (September 23) as he realises that it's time to walk out on his troubled wife Rhona.
Paddy (Dominic Brunt) reaches the end of his tether when he catches Rhona with another secret stash of pills.
Although Rhona (Zoe Henry) hasn't actually taken any of the pills, Paddy feels that he can no longer support her as she battles her painkiller addiction.
While disposing of the tablets down the sink, Paddy angrily rebukes Rhona for not putting him and Leo first. Afterwards, he ignores her desperate protests and packs his bags to leave her…

She isn't being nice to Paddy, and he deserves someone to treat him right.

does he??
I think this is open to discussion?
Paddy comes across as selfish to me? as long as he is ok, everyone else can fit in sort of thing?

BIB: So agree with this! While Rhona did terrible things, mainly with Vanessa, Paddy's hard done by attitude is disgusting and selfish!
Of course, I'm hoping that Rhona gets clean on her own and dumps his dumb ass! She didn't seem to have a problem kissing on Vanessa, so maybe she should go Bi for a bit, lol.:p

He does imo. He's Rhona's husband, so he should have been the one she went to with problems. And even after Paddy learns of Rhona's problems, he does all he can for her. He does have her best interests at heart. Rhona has the chance to make amends to him, yet she's still treating Paddy as if he's the 'mate' and Vanessa is the 'husband.' No wonder he feels pushed out.
Didn't Chas cheat on him? He doesn't get much luck.

BIB: That's interesting? I think you have a point right there.... mmm, still supports my contention that Rhona should just get with Vanessa, lol. But I think Rhona wants to save her marriage, but she's an addict and needs professional help and I think Paddy isn't really up for what's involved in dealing an addict trying to fully recover. He's disappointing and will lose her.:(
How come paddy talking to chas is ok in his books, but Rhona talking to Vanessa isn't?

What's Rhona been doing this whole time? Like I said, using Vanessa as her 'husband' and Paddy the 'mate.' Wouldn't have happened had Rhona confided in her real husband instead...
I don't like Rhona one bit (I dislike Vanessa even more) and I think her behaviour has been terrible.
But at the same time Paddy is kind of proving her theory right about why she didn't tell him about her addiction in the first place. She thought he'd leave her and hey presto he has. I can understand it must be hard to deal with an addict, the lies and deceit, mood swings etc, but at the same time I don't think he fully appreciates how hard it is for someone to kick an addiction. It doesn't happen overnight does it?
I think he was kidding himself about how hard it would be to cope with. I know he said he's tried, but he hadn't tried for very long has he?
On the other hand I can't stand Rhona anyway so don't really care what happens to her lol

this happened tonight :p
oooops, I am a week ahead in my mind the past 2 days, my bad :o
Monday
Nicola leaves Jimmy a voicemail telling him to come home, unaware that he has had a crash. A passing cyclist spots the van and calls an ambulance for a motionless Jimmy, who is slumped over the wheel.
Later, Rodney visits Nicola with two police officers and breaks the news that Jimmy has been involved in an accident. Distraught, Nicola rushes to the hospital, blaming herself for Jimmy's injuries. Will he be okay?
Meanwhile, in a bid to cheer Amy up, Val insists they go for a girly day with Victoria. However, Amy's mood shows no signs of brightening. In a last ditch attempt, Val, Victoria and Kerry put a plan into motion to cheer her up. Unfortunately, it fails miserably as Amy storms out, telling them all to leave her alone. Later on, Andy explains that he needs to straighten things out and tells Amy how he feels. Will his admission be what finally makes her happy?
Elsewhere, Laurel offers Ashley a lift to view some properties, but embarrassed by the standard of the accommodation he can afford, Ashley declines. Being a friend, Laurel shares how she is feeling and tells him that she is going to her last counselling session, causing them to bond. Laurel feels awful for Ashley as he reveals his plans to move into a house share. She speaks to Marlon, making a hint about letting Ashley have their spare room - but Marlon isn't convinced. Could he be worried about Ashley and Laurel's history?
Also today, Marlon tells Laurel that he couldn't bring himself to talk to Rhona about Paddy, Priya's wedding dress has to be let out, and Bob and Dan have a tender moment when Bob moves out.
Tudsday
Amy thinks Andy only spent the night with her out of pity, until he tells her that he cares about her. With Amy torn over what she should do, Andy asks her to stay for breakfast - and to be his girlfriend. Amy is stunned and overjoyed.
At the same time, Joanie arrives at the B&B looking for Amy. Eric frantically rings Amy, hoping to find out where she is and to get her there now. Joanie has heard her and Andy's argument and has something to tell Amy. Will she arrive on time?
Meanwhile, Charity wants to stop Jimmy's accident from dropping the business in it, as he was over his legal driving hours. Heading to Mill Cottage to avoid PC Swirling, she finds Nicola in tears and seizes the moment. Charity tells Nicola to cover to the police about Jimmy's hours and dutifully Nicola follows her instructions, telling the police that Jimmy was with her, asleep, the day before his accident. Charity then dashes off to get to Jimmy before the police do. However, Jimmy is not too cooperative and refuses to lie. When he comes clean to the police, will Charity and Nicola need a solicitor?
Elsewhere, Georgia is dressed up and ready to go to a charity auction at the tennis club, commenting on the wealth of the members. Rodney is crushed as he knows he can't afford her glamorous taste and lifestyle. Comforting Nicola, he admits that Georgia doesn't think he's good enough for her. Can he find a way to keep the woman he's with in the lifestyle she's accustomed to?
Also today, Nicola confides in Rodney that her marriage may be over, Ashley agrees to move into Woodbine with Edna and Sandy, while Jimmy is reluctant over being released from the hospital.
Wednesday
Ashley has decided that he's moving to Woodbine and he sympathises with Bernice when she says that DeeDee didn't want to move up with her. As Ashley is packing up, Laurel comes in suggesting they have a drink to say goodbye to the place - one for the road. They start to toast the place and as the night wears on, they become drunk and Laurel misses a call from Marlon.
In the heat of the moment, Laurel tells Ashley that she wishes he and Gabby were going to live with her, not knowing how he secretly feels for her. Edna and Sandy later return to find a drunk Laurel and Ashley. Sandy worries for Ashley's feelings - does Laurel feel the same or are they unrequited?
Meanwhile, Nicola tells Bernice that she and Jimmy are having problems, and as per usual, Bernice is far from tactful. Determined to get Jimmy back, Nicola arrives at Pear Tree cottage, telling Charity that she's there to work. However, PC Swirling soon arrives, telling Nicola that her earlier statement doesn't add up. Quickly speaking up to save the company, Charity spares no detail in explaining to Swirling about Nicola's recent problems. PC Swirling advises that Jimmy will have to go on a re-training course. Worried about the business, Charity claims Nicola can do deliveries. Will Charity and Nicola struggle to make it work?
Elsewhere, Marlon starts to form an idea when Laurel tells him that she's happy but feels like she's asking too much to have the perfect little life. Calling Paddy in to cover for him whilst he heads into town, Marlon goes to get an engagement ring for Laurel. Best mate Paddy goes one further and suggests he goes with him, excited to be a part of his plan. Later, Marlon has bought the ring and Paddy orders balloons, throwing himself into the proposal plan to escape his own problems. Waiting with the children, Marlon is nervous as he goes through the rehearsal of his speech again and again. But where is Laurel?
Also today, Val has got Kyle a teddy but Eric thinks Joanie might change her mind again, Rodney is still upset with Georgia over the tennis club function, while Kerry is not happy about Amy and Andy.
Thursday (1)
Nicola gears up to do a haulage run. Rodney agrees to let Jimmy stay at his until he sorts things out with Nicola.
Despite finding out Nicola is helping to keep the business afloat, Jimmy tells her that he is not her man anymore and she is the worst thing to have ever happened to him. Can Nicola win Jimmy back before it's too late?
Meanwhile, hungover from last night's drinks with Ashley and aware she messed things up, Laurel can't resist trying on the engagement ring she has found hidden in Marlon's jacket pocket. However, the ring gets stuck and Laurel has to avoid seeing Marlon. Marlon wants to propose again, but when he can't find the ring, he thinks it is fate's way of telling him to give up.
Elsewhere, Val and Eric crash a meal Amy has organised for her, Andy, Joanie and Kyle. She reluctantly agrees to the extra dinner guests as she worries about making a bad impression. Soon Amy is cornered into inviting Diane, Kerry and Dan to join them for dinner too. With Eric helping to make dinner and worrying about the growing numbers, Joanie and Kyle turn up early, setting her further on edge. Will the dinner go without a hitch?
Also, Priya is frustrated with Georgia's input in the wedding, Rodney takes a job as a male escort, while Sandy is worried about Ashley as his feelings for Laurel grow.
Thursday (2)
Laurel comes clean to Marlon about the lost engagement ring, as it's still stuck on her finger. Afterwards, Marlon asks Laurel to marry him. Not being able to keep juicy news to herself, Bernice can't help but spread Marlon and Laurel's engagement before they've had a chance to do it themselves. The couple later officially announce the news. Will this finally be the happily ever after ending they both desperately craved?
At the same time, Edna tells Sandy that she'll keep an eye on Ashley while he goes to his reunion. Sandy thinks Ashley is setting himself up for a fall with Laurel. Preparing himself to speak to Laurel, Ashley shaves his beard off, becoming the man he used to be. Feeling confident, Ashley takes a deep breath and prepares to face Laurel as he leaves the house, but little does he know that Laurel and Marlon have announced their engagement. Will Ashley be heartbroken when he finds out?
Meanwhile, Amy is feeling awkward over the gatecrashed dinner and is concerned about how it will unfold. With tension already in the air, it doesn't help matters when Kerry calls Kyle her grandson and Joanie discovers that she used to date Andy. Arguments soon erupt between the dinner party guests and things look bad in front of Joanie. As Joanie goes to collect Kyle, could Amy lose him again?
Elsewhere, Jimmy agrees to return home, for Angel's sake.
Also, Rodney meets Veronica and she asks for 'extras' on their pre-arranged date.
Friday
Despite Diane and Eric's best efforts, Val still can't understand why Joanie may have been overwhelmed by last night's 'ambush'. Andy tries to make Amy see that Eric was trying to help, but she is not so sure, especially when Val tells that her the holiday to Turkey is booked - and they leave tomorrow.
Trying to cheer her up, Val and Amy go shopping, but Eric accuses her of encouraging Amy's attachment to Kyle when they return with an expensive coat for him. Amy feels put in her place as Joanie refuses to accept the coat for Kyle. This is all too much for Amy, and she warns Eric that he'll lose her if he makes her choose between him and Kyle.
Meanwhile, Bernice hasn't told Gabby about Laurel's engagement yet. Having seen how well Arthur took the news, Ashley can't help but feel a little gutted that Gabby may act the same, causing him to wallow in self-pity. Ashley and Laurel prepare to break the engagement news to Gabby, but she has already found out through Facebook. Gabby's harsh comments leave Laurel upset. Putting on a strong front as he comforts Laurel, Ashley finally breaks as he leaves.
Elsewhere, Vanessa tells Paddy that she has spoken to Rhona, and he couldn't care less. Paddy's disinterest is leaving everyone worried. Vanessa encourages Marlon to talk to Paddy about Rhona, but will it work or could this be the end of Paddy and Rhona?
Also today, Joanie makes an effort with Val and Diane, Rachel and Lisa come to blows over Lisa's involvement with Archie, Rodney is skint after giving Georgia money for a holiday, while Marlon asks Paddy to be his best man.

maybe she used Vanessa as she knew how Paddy would react (badly)
does it not speak volumes that she couldnt confide in him?

Rhona wanted to be high and Vanessa was the path of least resistance! She's an addict and it's a disease. Paddy's behavior is appalling! I hope Rhona saves herself, fight for Leo and kick Paddy to the curb!!

Paddy said the other day if Rhona had gone to him to begin with, then he'd have helped her, but she went to Vanessa instead. I can see how he felt pushed out, as he's her husband, yet she went to her mate instead. She probably knew he'd have sent her to get help right away, whereas Vanessa just kept giving her what she wanted, thus not actually 'helping' her get off them.
You can say that he wouldn't have been helpful, yet he wasn't given the chance either way, was he? I'm not saying he's entirely blameless, as his behaviour afterwards just shows him being petty, by hiding away from Rhona and not seeing how she is in rehab etc. But his pride has been hurt, and for a lot of men, that does hurt!

Well, if Paddy wants to lose he wife, he's doing a bang up job. Rhona was wrong, but now she's attempting to sort herself out and paddy has decided to wash his hands of her. A clean and healthy Rhona may not want to prostrate herself to "win" Paddy back!

rhona didn't go to anyone for help, vanessa discovered her addition and keep feeding her so to speak as she wanted rhona for herself, vanessa could have told paddy too as well as rhona herself
i cant see a way back for paddy and rhona so better if rhona leaves and takes irritating vanessa with her
Paddy is a knob!
for him to say that if he'd known what Rhona was going through he'd have made her get help shows how little he understands.....Rhona and any addict can only get help when THEY are ready to get help, not because some prat tells them to!!
