Tolli joined Neighbours when she was a baby and played the part of Lolly for seven years, before leaving the soap in 2001 to concentrate on her education.

More recently, she has been competing as a solo singer on the Australian version of The X Factor.

Speaking of her return, Tolli commented: "I spent a big part of childhood on the show so it felt very comfortable coming back to the studios to film the episode."

Reflecting on her original stint, she added: "I had a wonderful time on the show and just remember it always being fun, however after seven years, my parents felt it was time for me to go to school full-time like regular kids which was the right decision."

Lolly's return storyline will see her arrive on Ramsay Street to celebrate Lou's 70th birthday.

Tom Oliver, who plays Lou, was responsible for creating the character of Lolly in the '90s.

Oliver explained: "At the time, Lou was married to Cheryl and I put to the writers the idea of a woman having a child later in life and some of the risks involved. The result was this lovely young lady.

"It's wonderful to have her back on set and she is almost taller than me, so it's lucky I don't have to carry her around like I did in the early days!"

Adelaide Kane was the last actress to be seen on screen as Lolly, appearing for a few months in 2007.

Also ahead on Ramsay Street, Louise 'Lolly' Carpenter returns to help Lou celebrate his birthday.

Jiordan Tolli, who played Lolly as a youngster for seven years, is seen reprising the role for one episode.

Most of Lou's family comes together to mark his 70th birthday, although he later realises that he's been confused over his age and he is actually 71!

Regardless of numbers, it's a memorable day for Lou (Tom Oliver) and the unexpected arrival of Lolly proves to be the icing on the cake.
