Coronation Street star Paula Lane has revealed details of her character Kylie Platt's dramatic labour scenes.

Kylie realises that her baby is on the way later this month, but with no time to get her to hospital, her mum-in-law Gail McIntyre (Helen Worth) has to step in and deliver the child.

Lane told All About Soap: "It happens so quickly. She has a few twinges in the Bistro, but when she gets home, she's on her own and scared. There's music blaring next door and no-one can hear her cries.

"Kylie's in a complete panic - she can't move and the baby is coming quickly. She screams out in pain and Sean hears her and comes to her aid."

Explaining what happens when Gail then shows up, she continued: "Gail ends up delivering the baby girl, but by this point, I don't even think Kylie cares - she's just glad to have someone there. I reckon in some ways, this helps strengthen their bond."

With Kylie and her husband David (Jack P Shepherd) still hiding huge secrets from each other, the baby's arrival is likely to cause even more drama for the Platts.

Lane added: "Kylie just isn't in a good place afterwards. She's very low - she's not wearing any make-up or even her trademark big earrings. Kylie's so tired with the lack of sleep, and I think all these little things might set her off on a downward spiral.

"I'm hugely worried for her, actually. I can see where this is all heading."

Coronation Street airs Kylie's labour scenes on Monday, August 26 at 7.30pm and 8.30pm on ITV.

Coronation Street airs Kylie Platt's dramatic labour scenes later this month.

A big day for Kylie (Paula Lane) kicks off when she experiences a few twinges at the Bistro, but she doesn't realise her baby is on the way until she heads home to Number 8 and doubles over in pain.

Kylie screams for help in a panicked state, but nobody comes as loud music is blaring on the street due to Sally Webster and Anna Windass holding rival Bank Holiday barbecues.

In the end, Sean Tully (Antony Cotton) hears Kylie's shouts and rushes over to find her collapsed on the floor.

Sean and Kylie realise she is in labour.

Soon afterwards, word spreads that Kylie is in labour and David calls an ambulance.

However, with Kylie's contractions coming thick and fast, there's no time to get her to hospital - so Gail is forced to step in and deliver a healthy baby girl.

Paula Lane, who plays Kylie, told Digital Spy of the scenes: "It was brilliant and I really enjoyed it. We had a bit of a laugh and we weren't too serious about it. All of the cast who were there during the birth were very supportive and I'd put quite a bit of research into it beforehand, so I didn't feel too much pressure in the end!"

Coronation Street airs these scenes on Monday, August 26 at 7.30pm and 8.30pm on ITV.

Monday

Leanne is upset when the police reveal they've ruled out foul play, leaving her convinced that the car crash must therefore be her fault as she phoned Nick on his mobile and distracted him. Tina feels sick, knowing that David was really to blame. She angrily tells David that it's got to stop - he has to tell Leanne what really happened. Realising the game is up, David tells Leanne that he's got a confession to make.

Over at Number 8, Kylie suddenly doubles over in pain. Hearing her scream, Sean rushes over from the Windasses' barbeque and finds Kylie collapsed on the floor…

Meanwhile as the rival barbeques get into full swing at the Windasses' and Websters', Sally and Anna each crank up their music in an attempt to outdo each other. Faye looks longingly over the fence, wishing she could join Tim on the other side.

Elsewhere, Katy is excited at the thought of moving back to Number 5 with Chesney. Sinead sees Chesney buying flowers. Assuming they're for Katy, a saddened but understanding Sinead wishes him well and hopes he'll be happy.

Also, Eileen wishes everyone would leave her alone.

Finally, Roy and Hayley return from their travels and are shocked to discover that Sylvia has gone to stay with her sister.

As David nervously tries to find the words, Sean bursts into the Bistro and tells a shocked Leanne, David and Tina that Kylie has gone into labour. As they rush to Number 8, a flustered David phones the hospital, but Kylie's contractions are coming thick and fast. In the end, Gail is forced to deliver the baby as Kylie gives birth to a girl.

David looks emotionally at his wife and the baby he fervently hopes is his. But when Tina summons him to meet her outside, still insistent that he must tell Leanne and Kylie the truth, will David be able to beg for a reprieve for the sake of the baby?

Meanwhile, Sally and Anna continue their barbeque war. Sally is miffed to see that Tim has gone to join Faye round at Anna's. Sally is a bit worse for wear and when she helps herself to Anna's ketchup bottle which she's left on the fence, a fight ensues and the two women wrestle, knocking down the garden fence in the process. Both Faye and Tim are mortified.

Elsewhere, having put Joseph to bed, Katy seductively tells Chesney how much she's missed him and how pleased she is to be home. Chesney paints on a smile, but does he feel the same?

Also, Eileen tries to take her mind off her heartache.

Finally, Roy is upset that Sylvia went only leaving a note and brands his mother a coward.

Wednesday

Kylie watches as David introduces Max to baby Lily, full of love for her family. David begs Tina not to make him confess and suggests that when Nick comes round they'll do a deal - Nick can keep quiet about the car crash and David about the baby. Will Tina agree?

At the same time, Gail urges Kylie to have Lily's DNA tested so she can be sure who the father is.

Meanwhile, Chesney apologises to Katy for spending the night on the sofa, making out that he was just tired. Katy asks him to come home early as she's planning a romantic meal. Dreading dinner alone with Katy, Ches invites Tyrone and Fiz along. But how will Katy react when she realises that Chesney can't face being alone with her?

Elsewhere, with Nick still in coma, Stella wonders whether she should cancel the wedding. Karl is annoyed as he and best man Tez set about getting into the spirit of things.

Also today, Sally is embarrassed when she bumps into Tim, aware of her performance at the barbeque. Will Tim still be interested after seeing Sally in a different light?

The next episode of Coronation Street airs on Sunday, September 1.
