yeah not off in the back of a cab. Feel that his and Gennies leaving have been overshadowed by the whole Debbie and Cameron blah blah. Not a fitting exit for two quirky funny characters as far as I am concerned. And where do I start on the whole Rhona storyline - preferably at the end - whenever that will be. Yawn.

Rhona and Vanessa kiss.
Painkiller addict Rhona needs to keep Vanessa on side as she remains her main source of pills.
Although she has no romantic feelings for Vanessa whatsoever, Rhona has decided to manipulate her feelings to continue getting her fix.
Michelle Hardwick, who plays Vanessa, explained: "It's a really unhealthy relationship, because it's totally one-sided. Of course Rhona cares deeply for Vanessa, because she always has done, but only as a friend. Vanessa's love runs a heck of a lot deeper than that!"

Rhona kisses Vanessa.
Revealing Vanessa's intentions, Hardwick continued: "At the moment Vanessa is not seeing past getting Rhona better. Once that has happened, she'd like to just walk out into The Woolpack as a couple and get everybody to accept them as a couple in the village.
"But at the forefront of Vanessa's mind at the moment is to get Rhona off the pills and get her to tell her husband Paddy the truth."
Emmerdale airs these scenes on Friday, August 23 at 7pm on ITV.
Monday
David is aghast to realise that Nikhil is still seriously considering emigrating to Toronto. He quickly enlists the help of Rishi and Jai to try and talk Nikhil out of it.
Will Nikhil's friends and family manage to persuade him to stay? And how will Brenda react to Nikhil's plans and the idea of Molly being taken away from her?
Meanwhile, Declan is optimistic about the prospect of his upcoming festival, but his mood is soon shaken when the police call wanting to talk to him again. He learns that one of the workmen on the site has told the police of a suspicious object that was found, and that Declan paid him to keep quiet. Declan fears he could be in serious trouble when the police flash a warrant to start digging.
Elsewhere, Nicola is grateful to Steve for helping her out and begins to look at him with new eyes.
Also today, Debbie and Cameron enjoy their first day together as a couple and while Sarah is thrilled to have Cameron back at Tug Ghyll, Cain's heart breaks at his daughter's choice.
Tuesday
Robbie realises that something serious is going on, more than Megan and Declan are letting on. When news gets back to him that the police have found something on the site, he urges his mum to get out before the situation gets worse, suggesting that they should leave together.
Megan seems intent on staying to support her brother, but as tension mounts she seems increasingly torn. Will she take Robbie up on his offer?
Meanwhile, with things still fraught between Paddy and Rhona, Paddy still doesn't know what to make of Rhona and her lies. Vanessa only adds further concern to his theory that there may be someone else. When Marlon and Paddy separately ask Rhona outright, she refuses to answer.
Later, Rhona confronts Vanessa about her adding weight to Paddy's worries, but Vanessa suggests that there is someone else in Rhona's life - her. Once again she reiterates her love for Rhona, but pushes for an answer - does Rhona love her too? How will Rhona respond bearing in mind that Vanessa is her supplier and her lifeline?
Elsewhere, Brenda is shocked to learn that Nikhil plans to leave the village that very day. Jai desperately attempts to make her see things from Nikhil's point of view so that they can part on good terms and with her blessing. Will she be able to come to terms with losing him and Molly to Toronto having just lost Gennie? Later, Nikhil's final gift to Chas comes in the form of Gennie's belongings taken from the car, with the Dictaphone included...
Also today, when Cameron goes to the pub to collect his passport ahead of a trip to Jersey with Debbie and the kids, Chas is determined to get some answers from him. She is distraught as Cameron tries to justify his feelings and actions, stating that he only really felt sorry for her.
Wednesday
With the police continuing to delve into Declan's statement and his relationship with Katie, Declan's frustrations rise. When the police reveal that the body they found has been buried, dug up and then reburied, all within the Home Farm grounds, they insist on a lockdown.
Declan thinks it's game over and says the festival is cancelled. However, Megan urges him not to throw in the towel so soon...
Meanwhile, Rhona meets Gary but is annoyed when the only pills he has to offer are the same as before. She insists that she is not interested in those, but a menacing Gary does not appreciate being messed around. At the same time, Paddy continues to worry about Rhona and suspects that her Pilates class may be fictional. He is determined to find out the truth.
Elsewhere, Jai is cross and hurt to learn that Charity has lied about going to see Declan at Home Farm. Charity promises that she will try to keep out of Declan's way in future. Jai is temporarily appeased until Jimmy manages to put his foot in it.
Also today, Betty's attempts to keep Victoria out of the house are short lived.
Finally, Andy is shocked when Amy tells him that Kyle's parents died and that she went to the funeral, while Diane is concerned for Chas who continues to try putting a brave face on.
Thursday
As rumours are rife over the festival being cancelled, the Home Farm office do their best to stifle concerns. However, soon the police return and Declan is arrested for perverting the course of justice.
Declan undergoes vigorous questioning over Katie's disappearance and soon becomes increasingly worried when the accusations take a new twist when he is accused of murder.
Meanwhile, Rhona is worried when Paddy confronts her over where she goes instead of Pilates. Rhona is defensive, but Paddy demands the truth, urging her to admit if she is having an affair. Rhona argues that she isn't but she just can't give him an answer. As Rhona bolts off to hide in The Woolpack's toilets, Vanessa follows her in. Soon Vanessa gives her a way out, but can Rhona even consider it?
Elsewhere, Charity is gutted to hear the festival has been cancelled as she and Jimmy will lose a lot of work.
Also, Dan offers Chas a kindly word and when Kerry witnesses their cosy chat, she looks aggrieved.
Finally, Val is worried about Amy and shows Pollard what she has found hidden in Amy's bag!
A helpless Declan continues to protest his innocence as the police probe him for answers about the body and Katie's whereabouts. Clutching at straws, he suggests that they could speak to her best friend Chas.
Later, Declan is relieved when Chas confirms to the police that Katie left the village of her own free will and Declan is subsequently released without charge - for now! But the bad news is not over as he reels to hear the insurance company for the festival will not pay out. Could Declan's reign at Home Farm be over?
Meanwhile, in the pub toilets Vanessa continues to implore Rhona to come clean to Paddy about 'their relationship', but Rhona is adamant that she can handle Paddy without Vanessa's help. At the same time, Paddy rifles through Rhona's handbag and on scrolling through her phone thinks he's found the evidence he needs.
A crazed Rhona is furious to return and see what Paddy has done and begins to lash out, hitting him. Paddy is bewildered, hurt and shocked. Soon Vanessa has calmed Rhona down with another dosage and Rhona attempts to go and see Paddy to give him an explanation. However, she arrives to see that Paddy has his bags packed. Could this be the end of their relationship?
Elsewhere, dressed to impress, a jealous Kerry lavishes Dan with compliments as she invites him to spend the evening with her in The Woolpack rather than eat in at home. Kerry wants to keep Chas in her sights and can't refrain from making jealous snide quips as Chas serves Dan. Dan guesses Kerry's game so asks Chas for a favour. Kerry is soon raging and Dan is embarrassed by her reaction, although flattered!
Also, Val and Pollard are worried about Amy's motives and Amy is suspicious of Pollard's generosity when he buys her and Val a surprise spa break.
Friday
Debbie and Cameron arrive back from Jersey. Debbie is apprehensive of seeing Chas, but Cameron thinks they should face the music and drink in The Woolpack, where the body at the glamping site and Declan's big cover-up is the hot topic of conversation.
Soon the police arrive having now identified the body, and they show Declan the photo - it's Alex. Cameron blanches as he overhears and is almost physically sick as he dashes out. Shaking with worry, Cameron is panicked now his victim has been discovered!
Meanwhile, Declan and Megan watch the ruined glamping site as it is dug over for evidence. Aware that all his plans and festival dreams are being broken up in front of him, Declan is very worried indeed. At the end of his tether and desperate for help, Declan implores Jai to invest in his business. However, with so much bad blood between them, Jai refuses outright. Declan later primes Charity to speak to Jai once more. Will she manage to change Jai's mind?
Elsewhere, Marlon and Laurel are worried about Paddy, who eventually tells them about Rhona's shocking behaviour. Marlon is worried about Leo being left with Rhona and heads over to see her. Rhona is frazzled and Marlon makes a decision over Leo. Vanessa is at a loss as she realises that Rhona is having second thoughts. Seeing nowhere else to go and to keep Vanessa on side, Rhona pleads with her, lying about her feelings for her. Vanessa is not sure Rhona is being honest, so how will Rhona convince her?
Also today, Pollard and Val confront Amy, who is determined to show that Kyle means nothing.
Finally, Nicola and Alicia worry for their jobs now the festival is off.

I'm just bored of it. Rhona is becoming my least fav character of all time - and vanessa isn't far behind. Cameron - sort it will you!!!!!
Cameron - sort it will you!!!!!
has anyone noticed any scene with Cameron and a female cast member (Sarah aside) they tower over him, even when not in heels??
He must have used a step ladder to hit Carl and Alex on the head????
Emmerdale's Brenda Walker faces fresh turmoil in tonight's episode (August 19) as Nikhil Sharma vows to go ahead with his plans to emigrate with baby Molly.
Nikhil (Rik Makarem) stands by his original decision even though Rishi and Jai have offered him a substantial share of the factory.
Hating the thought of being apart from Molly, Brenda (Lesley Dunlop) is devastated when Nikhil explains that he wants a fresh start in Canada.
Nikhil is touched as Brenda tearfully explains that Molly is her last remaining link to Gennie, but it's clear that he has no intention of changing his mind - leading to an emotional showdown between the pair…

It has been portrayed quite realistically in fairness. I know someone who has battled addiction and he went through pretty similar stuff to what Rhona is so I applaud them on the realistic-ness of the whole thing but I know a lot of people don't see it like that because it's gone on for a while

what I dont understand in addiction terms - is Rhona isnt withdrawing from the tablets (painkillers) so why is she getting the shakes and jitters when she goes a few hours without a hit?
She isnt using them for pain relief at this stage? we are meant to think that after a couple of months of pain killers of the level a GP can hand out, she cant last an hour without a fix and gets awful withdrawel effects?

Addiction can take hold very quickly and it is so easy to become dependant on painkillers, but it's got to the stage with Rhona now where she was being supplied with what she needed to a certain extent but by getting other supplies from a different source at the same time she became more and more dependant and if she goes a while without a hit, because her need for them is so great, she will start withdrawing very quickly. It happens in real life and it's sad how realistic it is :(

I am getting a bit fed up of this storyline with Rhona. Vanessa isn't much help either. She professes her love, but if she really loved her, she wouldn't be giving her pills, and would drag her (even kicking and screaming) to get professional help.
As for Rhona, she is supposed to love Paddy, yet is happy to make him think she's having an affair, just to cover up her addiction.
I'd love for Paddy to tell her where to go, but it's like Paddy's already shown us; he's so in love with her he would do anything to keep her.

I think I am asking medically, why is she needing the painkillers? It isnt to numb the pain? as if her back still hurt she should be having MRI scans etc to look into why?
so what effect does the painkillers give her - that isnt pain relief - that she is addicted to?
do they send her away with the fairies? do they make her sleepy? (we havent seem that)
the inderence is that she is taking tramadol, as that is one of the strongest a GP would have given which started this, and I dont know of any 'hallucinagenic or opiod-like effects that has?
I'd love for Paddy to tell her where to go, but it's like Paddy's already shown us; he's so in love with her he would do anything to keep her.
