Coronation Street airs David Platt and Nick Tilsley's horrifying road accident early next month as tension between the two brothers comes to a head.

The siblings are at the centre of dramatic scenes after Nick (Ben Price) finally realises that David knows the truth about his one-night stand with Kylie.

Realising that they need to sort this out, Nick braces himself to talk to David (Jack P Shepherd) after they've set off in the Bistro van to run an errand together.

A nervous Nick earnestly apologises to David for what happened with Kylie, claiming that it didn't mean anything to either of them. Nick adds that the secret has caused far too much damage, so he now wants to head home and tell Leanne everything.

Nick's words leave David in a panic, as he fears that the truth will fatally damage his relationship with Kylie.

Making an impulsive but terrible decision, David unfastens Nick's seatbelt and grabs the wheel of the van. As a result, the vehicle careers out of control and into the path of an oncoming lorry…

Nick and David are knocked out by the crash.

After the crash, David stirs to life and seems to be okay, but he is horrified to find Nick's bloodied body trapped in the mangled van.

Feeling terrible about how far he's gone, David dials 999 and emergency services soon arrive on the scene to cut Nick free from the wreckage.

Once Nick is finally in the ambulance, it's unclear whether he'll survive, and the situation takes another turn for the worse when his heart stops. A guilty David then reaches breaking point - has he killed Nick?

After David's questions about guilt and betrayal in light of the poison pen letter, Nick is now panic stricken that he could know the truth.

After spotting David talking to Tina, Nick presses Tina for details of the conversation. When Tina admits that she is worried about David as he's found out Kylie cheated and is intent on revenge, Nick feels sick. As he and David set off in the van to pick up some furniture, will he risk tackling David?

Meanwhile, as Rob and Tracy open the shop, she's keen to let Rob know she's his equal not his employee. Enjoying watching Rob squirm, Peter suggests that if Rob is serious about her, maybe Tracy should move in with him. How will Rob react to the prospect of them living together?

Elsewhere, as Izzy sets about convincing Owen to let Gary work part-time, Tina returns from her holiday and is quickly jolted back to reality when she sees Jake is home.

Also, Jenna starts work at the café much to Mandy's annoyance.

Finally, Norris suspects Craig of playing pranks on him.

With a beating heart, Nick apologises to David, explaining that what happened with Kylie was a one-off and meant nothing to either of them. David flies at Nick, admitting to his hate campaign and how he even contemplated suicide when he discovered the truth.

Ashamed at the damage this secret has done, Nick insists that it's time to head home and talk to Leanne and Kylie. Suddenly scared that he'll lose Kylie, who he still loves, David impulsively unfastens Nick's seatbelt and grabs the wheel. As the van careers out of control, crashing off the road and into the path of an oncoming lorry, will either brother survive the impact?

Meanwhile, Rob tries to fob Tracy off about moving in, but cutting through his spiel, she asks if he's just using her for her money. Rob insists that he isn't, but can he persuade Tracy?

Elsewhere, when Beth forces Craig to admit that he did steal Norris's paperboy, Norris decides that a punishment is in order - Craig can deliver the papers free for a month.

Also, with Tommy's support, Tina reveals that she's determined to put on a brave face and move on from her turmoil over Jake.

Finally, relations are fractious for Lloyd, Mandy and Jenna.

Wednesday

As David stirs to life, he's horrified to see Nick's bloodied body trapped in the mangled car. Instantly flooded with remorse, he begs Nick not to die as the lorry driver dials 999. Calling Leanne, David reveals that they've been involved in a crash as the fire brigade work to cut Nick free from the wreckage.

Finally in the ambulance, it's unclear whether Nick will make it. When Nick's heart then stops, David is at breaking point. Has his revenge cost his brother his life?

Meanwhile, Rob is seething as he accuses Peter of stirring things between him and Tracy. He makes more digs about Peter living off Carla, which is clearly starting to get to Peter. As their feud deepens, can either man mend the fractures in their personal relationships?

Elsewhere, when Lloyd overhears Mandy wondering whether his complacency over Jenna's lowly job stems from his own lack of ambition, he's left stewing.

Also today, Tina tries to keep a lid on her emotions as she asks after Jake. Seemingly together, she agrees to visit some time. However, alone with Tommy and Rita, it's clear the strain is taking its toll on Tina.

Friday

Gail and Leanne keep a vigil at Nick's bedside - he's had brain surgery and is in an induced coma. As they try to get an insight into what caused the crash, David claims that he can't remember, guilty and fearful that his actions might be revealed.

Alone with Nick, David begs him to wake up, apologising for what he's done. Will anyone overhear his confession?

Meanwhile, noting how down both Lloyd and Eileen are after their recent rows, Steve suggests they all go to the pub like old times. However, the mood darkens when Mandy joins them. Mandy and Lloyd then start bickering about their respective parenting skills.

Elsewhere, with Nick in hospital, Gloria suggests to Izzy that they have baby Jake's homecoming drinks at The Rovers. Tina insists she's fine with it, but is she as tough as she makes out?

Also, Tracy manipulates both Rob and Steve as she suggests Steve spend more time with Amy so she can spend more time with Rob.

Finally, Norris regrets employing a reluctant Craig as paperboy.

David's guilt worsens as the doctor reveals that Nick has swelling on the brain and it doesn't look good.

As the police arrive to question David, he braces himself to lie. But as they probe for answers, will David be able to keep up his act, or will it all prove too much?

Meanwhile, Mandy and Lloyd are exhausted by fighting to keep their relationship alive. However, when Mandy says they need to be honest and realise they're different people now to the two that fell for each other all those years ago, will Lloyd agree to give up the fight?

Elsewhere, Tina is dreading Jake's party but is determined not to look like an emotional wreck at work and insists on covering her shift despite Tommy and Rita's concerns.

Also, Norris sacks Craig when the newspapers he was meant to deliver are found dumped. Beth is concerned as she has noted Craig's behaviour deteriorating over the last few months.

Finally, Tracy sets her sights on the bookies flat, but how will she drive Peter and Carla out?
