[LEFT][COLOR=#000000]EastEnders bosses have announced that Kate Magowan (http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/celebrities/kate-magowan/) has joined the soap's cast.

The actress has landed the role of Sadie Young, a glamorous businesswoman who will be arriving in Walford next month.

Sadie is a quick-witted character who has worked hard to secure her successful career.

Viewers will see that Sadie is down to earth, capable of looking after herself and has a good sense of humour. However, she is also shrouded in mystery and show chiefs have big plans for the character.

Speaking of her role, Magowan commented: "I'm thrilled to be joining EastEnders and look forward to seeing what the character of Sadie will get up to in Walford."

EastEnders' executive producer Lorraine Newman added: "We're delighted to have the stunning Kate Magowan joining the show. Sadie will sprinkle a little glamour over Walford, and with her no-nonsense approach to life, she's a great role model to those around her - she knows what she wants and will aim high.

"Sadie plays as hard as she works, creating friendships and admirers in her wake. As the autumn unfolds, we'll soon realise that there is far more to Sadie than simply meets the eye."

Magowan has previously had roles in Stardust, Silent Witness, Screwed, The Fall of the Essex Boys and 24 Hour Party People.

News of Magowan's casting is the latest in a long line of EastEnders announcements as the show's team have promised that there is a huge summer and autumn on the way.

EastEnders newcomer Sadie Young causes a stir next week as she tries to impress Walford's male residents.

Taking over at Booty following Tanya Cross's decision to sell up, Sadie (Kate Magowan) decides that she wants to make an immediate impact to drum up new business.

Setting up a stall on the market, Sadie flirts with the local men and offers them massages, despite Poppy Meadow's warnings that her actions will alienate the Square's female residents.

Sadie certainly does a good job of getting attention, but AJ Ahmed (Phaldut Sharma) gets the wrong idea regarding her flirting and later tries to score a date with her.

When no-nonsense Sadie rejects AJ and admits that it was all a stunt to promote the salon, Kirsty Branning and Roxy Mitchell overhear and are impressed by her confidence. Will Sadie prove to be a hit with the local ladies after all?

EastEnders newcomer Kate Magowan has promised that there are some big revelations on the way involving her character Sadie Young.

Sadie arrives in Walford next week as the new owner of Booty following Tanya Cross's decision to sell the salon.

While Sadie is firmly focused on the business in her early episodes, viewers will learn much more about her as time goes on.

Magowan told Inside Soap: "Sadie's a bit of a mystery - there's a lot more to her than first meets the eye. She is an incredibly private person, and doesn't give anything away about her personal life.

"But there's a lot of stuff to be revealed later on, and that's where the drama will be. She's a very interesting and intriguing character to play, which is so exciting for me."

She continued: "I've never had a chance to have a crack at a long-running character before. It's a challenge - I'm really looking forward to Sadie's journey. It's fantastic to be part of a show like this."

Magowan added that she is trying her hardest to keep Sadie's secrets under wraps.

"It's not too tricky to keep storyline secrets when they're big ones," she said. "But I do have a couple of friends who are fans, so I may have to steer clear of them - or do my best to be incredibly vague!"

EastEnders airs Sadie's first scenes on Monday, August 5.

EastEnders businesswoman Sadie Young was at the centre of a twist in tonight's episode (November 19) as she was revealed as Jake Stone's wife.

Sadie and Jake were both introduced to the BBC soap separately three months ago, but show bosses decided to keep their connection a secret until now.

Now that the couple are moving onto Albert Square together, could there be fireworks ahead due to Jake's relationship with Lauren Branning?

Digital Spy recently caught up with Kate Magowan, who plays Sadie, for an exclusive chat about the reveal and what's to come.

How do you feel about being at the centre of this twist?
"When I came into EastEnders, I knew that it was always going to be the case that Sadie and Jake were together but it wouldn't be revealed until much later on. I thought it was a really interesting way to introduce characters, as we saw Sadie and Jake separately for a long time before finding out they were together. There are also a lot of secrets within their relationship which will be revealed now."

Has it been difficult to keep this a secret?
"Yes! (Laughs.) I've had to keep it very quiet. I know my whole storyline on EastEnders from beginning to end, but we have brilliant press officers who brief us on what we can and can't say at certain times. It can be confusing because we film so far ahead, but we do our best to keep our secrets!"

Was it an exciting moment to film the scene where Sadie moves onto the Square for the first time?
"Yes, it was - it's quite an iconic moment when you first move onto the Square. Sadie had already kind of done it once when she bought the salon and started work there, but getting to live on the Square is quite a big moment."

How would you describe Sadie and Jake's marriage? We know they've had a few problems…
"I think they're two people who can work really well together. The good times have been really, really good, but there's quite a dark secret that comes out later on which has caused awful problems between them.

"It's basically Jake's alcoholism and the problems it has caused. They've really struggled and you'll see points where they're really trying hard to keep their marriage together."

As Sadie has given Jake another chance, is it mainly for her daughter or is it more than that?
"I think it's more than that - it's because they really love each other. Sadie really wants to make her marriage work - she wants the family unit and she wants the full package. As she believes in it, she fights for it. Even though children are incredibly important in a marriage, Sadie isn't a believer in staying together just for a child."

How would Sadie feel if she knew about Jake and Lauren?
"I know how this all ends, so we will find out! (Laughs.) Sadie certainly doesn't suspect anything, so it will depend how she finds out and how friendly she is with Lauren when she finds out!"

Will we see a fierce side to Sadie?
"Definitely - I don't think she's a character who takes any prisoners! She's very nice and fair, but I think she's a bit like a tiger mum. Sadie won't be taken for a fool, so she wouldn't be making any mistake twice."

Could there be a catfight?
"You'll have to wait and see, but I'm not sure if Sadie is the type to have a catfight, let's put it that way! She's too classy for that and she does things in her own way."

How have you found working with your on-screen family?
"Jamie who plays Jake is great - he's brilliant, a lovely man and a great actor. I think he plays the role really well and I've really enjoyed our time together. You haven't seen it yet, but I think we work well together. I can't really say enough nice things about Jamie as he's so committed.

"Isobelle who plays Bella is also brilliant. If there's ever a face for the future, it's her! She's a very, very talented girl and so sweet."

What have the rest of the cast been like to work with?
"I've made some great friends. As well as Jamie, I get on very well with Lindsey Coulson and Patsy Palmer. There's some really, really lovely people here. It's a huge cast but I think you get to know people well if you're working closely with them."

What else can you tell us about Sadie's future?
"I was only ever brought in for this storyline, so I know where it's all going and I think it's a really great ending. It's going to be very Sadie, but I think that's all I can say at the moment!"

How has EastEnders compared to your previous work?
"It's really interesting, actually - it's very different to what I've done before. It's very fast, so it's not like anything else you'll ever work on, because of the number of episodes you'll be filming in one go.

"But working here has been the most fantastic experience. It's a huge machine and I don't know how they keep it running, but they do! There's great directors and actors coming in and out. It's been a really fantastic experience, so I will never forget it."
