April and Dex to leave

Home and Away stars Rhiannon Fish and Charles Cottier are leaving the soap, reports have revealed.

Teri Haddy, who played Rosie Prichard on the show, confirmed the news to TV Week following months of speculation over the future of the pair's characters April Scott and Dexter Walker.


Haddy told the magazine: "I think because they have both been on the show for so long, they wanted to start a brand new chapter.

"I want it to be a really positive ending for April and Dex, and an open-ended one."

Fish and Cottier have both been cast members on Home and Away since 2010. Dex previously appeared on screen for a five-week stint in 2009 with actor Tom Green in the part.

Meanwhile, Haddy's character Rosie also bows out from the programme in episodes due to air in Australia next week.

However, refusing to rule out a future return for her alter ego, Haddy said: "The way Rosie leaves the Bay is really positive, and yes, it will leave the door open for her to come back later on."

Home and Away airs weekdays at 1.15pm and 6pm on Channel 5 in the UK, and weekdays at 7pm on Network Seven in Australia.

Over on Home and Away, April Scott and Dexter Walker's wedding day arrives, but the day runs far from smoothly.

On the morning of the ceremony, April is overcome with anxiety, whilst Dexter remains calm, even when the wrong cake arrives and his shirt gets ruined.

However, April (Rhiannon Fish) is becoming increasingly emotional as she realises that she is moving to a whole new continent away from her sister. She manages to put the worries aside as she heads to the chapel, but when she finally arrives, she freezes and cannot get out of the car.

As the enormity of the day becomes all too overwhelming for April, Tamara is forced to enter the chapel to get Bianca to come out to the car.

Realising that something isn't right, Dexter's composure is suddenly shattered, but after some wise words from Bianca, April suddenly feels ready to go ahead with the wedding as planned.

Bianca walks her sister down the aisle as she finally prepares to marry Dexter and the pair read their vows, but will anything else go wrong?
