Monday episode 5786 - 15/07/13

Sid’s surprised to see Casey in such a good headspace. Indi credits his mood to moving to the caravan park. Sid thinks a change of scenery might be good for him as well as Casey – Indi realises Sid’s still considering the position at the Flying Doctors. Sid tells Sasha that if he did take the job he’d want her to come to Broken Hill with him.

Everyone’s pleased to see Casey’s great mood and improved work ethic. Unfortunately Casey’s happiness is a façade. He is drinking heavily to get through the day to deal with the grief of losing Tamara. He’s also avoiding a deeply concerned Brax. Ricky counsels Brax to not give up on reaching Casey, and with Indi’s help Brax organises for Casey to train him at the gym so they can have a heart-to-heart. Brax tells him Tamara didn’t leave town, and Casey pretends he doesn’t care. However, alone in the caravan Casey listens to a voice message that Tamara left telling him she loves him.

Sasha and Spencer’s love bubble is burst when Maddy arrives. She wants to apologise for her behaviour the night before, but quickly realises that Sasha and Spencer have slept together. Mortified, she runs off. Spencer goes after her, leaving Sasha annoyed that her boyfriend is still so invested in Maddy. Harvey points out to Spencer that Sasha’s probably upset that Spencer took off after his ex directly after their first time together. When he catches up with Sasha she reveals that her Dad’s contemplating taking her to Broken Hill. Rosie’s sad that she’s leaving while things are still awkward between the group of friends, and wants everyone to make peace. Sasha’s confused about where she stands when her boyfriend’s ex is so involved, but Rosie puts it into perspective for her – Sasha’s been in Maddy’s situation before in the Casey/Tamara/Sasha love triangle, so she should try and understand. Maddy agrees to pretend to be friends to send Rosie off happily, but makes it clear that a true friendship between she, Spencer and Sasha is not on the cards.

Harvey, Roo and Alf discuss the hardships of raising kids. Roo wishes she could fix all of Maddy’s problems for her, and Alf agrees he knows the feeling. As they’re talking, a familiar face drives into Summer Bay.

Tuesday episode 5787 - 16/07/13

Alf is overjoyed when he sees Sally Fletcher back in Summer Bay. He’s also delighted to see her young daughter Pippa and is quick to share the news of her return with the other excited residents. The one person who seems taken aback is Roo, who quickly covers her shock. Harvey needles Roo until she admits that Sally is Alf’s ‘golden girl’ who makes her feel like the nightmare teenager all over again. Pippa and Sally elect to stay in a caravan since the house is so full, but Harvey thinks he and Roo should offer their room – Roo is adamant that Sally and Pippa are fine in a caravan. Sally ruffles Roo’s feathers further by bonding with Maddy. When Sally confronts Roo about her behaviour she apologises, revealing her insecurities. The two women decide to make more of an effort with each other, but Roo clocks that Sally seems to be hiding something. Roo speculates that Sally has an ulterior motive for being in Summer Bay.

Zac’s distressed that Bianca hasn’t arranged for Holly to be transferred from his class yet, and at school Holly continues harassing him. She reminds him that all he has to do to make the cops go away is sleep with her. He makes it clear that he’d never lay a hand on her, and Holly runs away, upset. Bianca witnesses this and realises there may be more at play than first realised. Zac finally tells Bianca about Holly’s proposition, and the two acknowledge that this girl does not take well to rejection. Later, Zac gets a worrying phone call from a distressed Holly and finds her at a cliff edge.

Despite Maddy’s unhappiness, Sasha and Spencer are enjoying each other’s company, and they agree to try harder to fix things. Sasha reaches out to Maddy, revealing her own story when she was the third wheel of a love triangle. Maddy says this makes Sasha’s behaviour worse, since she understands how much Maddy’s hurting. Sasha decides she should leave Summer Bay with her father and leave this weird love triangle. Spencer’s upset that she’s giving up on their relationship.

Wednesday episode 5788 - 17/07/13

Zac tries to talk Holly away from the cliff edge, but she only wants one thing from Zac. He maintains he cares about her, but Holly’s distraught when he refuses to say he loves her. Zac frantically tries to get to the bottom of Holly’s distress, asking her if things are bad at home. Meanwhile, Bianca looks through Holly’s records for signs of abuse at home, and finds out some serious information. Zac answers Bianca’s phone call without Holly realising and alerts Bianca to where they are. Bianca races to help, while Zac fishes for information on Holly’s home life. Holly thinks her father no longer loves her. After this admission, Zac gets her safely away from the edge and she collapses into his arms. Holly’s sorry for what she’s done to Zac’s reputation and promises to recant her lies. Later, Bianca and Zac blame themselves for not guessing Holly’s predicament earlier. Zac was so concerned about his own reputation and job he feels he didn’t take enough time to think of why Holly was framing him. However, he and Bianca are relieved when Holly admits everything to the police, and now she can get the help she needed.

Roo’s still convinced that something’s up with Sally, but Alf’s not interested in Roo’s hypothesising. While Roo’s canvassing Irene and Marilyn for their ideas why Sally’s returned – perhaps romantic issues? Alf shuts her down maintaining that Sally wouldn’t upend her child and travel across the world for something so flimsy. Roo gets upset, think Alf’s inferring that she’s irresponsible. Marilyn and Harvey try and calm Roo down, but she can’t help but be irrational when it comes to her father.

Sally meets her first River Boy when Darcy and Pippa play together, and Heath tells her his fiancé is school principal. Sally takes Pippa for an extensive tour of Summer Bay. Pippa wants to go to school here, but Sally diverts her, worrying that Pippa is tired. They visit Sally’s old house where to their surprise they find Heath and Darcy again. It looks like Pippa’s made a friend. Heath’s bemused that the girls are now fast friends, and Sally reveals the house has a strong emotional tie for her. At home Pippa shows her exhaustion by dropping her plate. Sally reacts explosively, and Alf finally realises something might be wrong in Sally’s life. When he seeks her out, she tearfully admits that Pippa is dying.

Thursday episode 5789 - 18/07/13

Sally reveals she hasn’t told Pippa about her illness yet. She’s come back to Summer Bay to be with the people that she loves. The rest of the family are shocked to hear about Pippa’s disease, as Sally realises she needs to speak to Leah. As Leah is the surrogate mum, she may carry the symptoms that lay dormant in Pippa for years. Sally breaks the news to Leah who keeps it from VJ, who could also be affected by Pippa’s diagnosis. However, Leah pulls VJ out of school to get tested for Mitochondrial Disease. Jett overhears that Leah’s taking VJ to the hospital and it worried. His concerns are further increased when he overhears Roo and Sally talking about VJ as though he is ill. Jett rushes to VJ’s house and they both share what they know – the adults are acting weird. They’re both afraid VJ is sick. Leah allays their fears saying his medical was due to them being overseas for so long. Jett and VJ bond over the health scare and are friends again, forgetting their fight over Nina. Sid alerts Sally to the Mayo Clinic, an experimental clinic in the States that could possibly help Pippa, but it is very expensive. Sally doesn’t care about the cost – she now has a bit of hope.

Casey’s still struggling to comprehend the end of his relationship with Tamara, who’s moved on with Kyle. Tamara feels terrible and thinks about leaving town again. Kyle blames Casey for Tamara’s discomfort and pushes Casey to breaking point. The pair start fighting, and when Tamara sees this she’s disgusted with both of them. She confronts Casey and asks him to back off, being brutally honest about their love disappearing. Tamara and Kyle’s relationship is now under strain because of Casey, and Tamara wonders whether she should just walk away.

Sid breaks it to his family that he and Sasha are going to Broken Hill, and now Dex and April are faced with the difficult decision of whether they should stay in Summer Bay or go with Sid. Sasha tries to convince Dex to come to Broken Hill with them. Dex says he’s staying with April no matter what, so April agrees to leave.

Thursday episode 5790 - 18/07/13
Sasha reveals that she’s leaving because of her hesitance to be part of another love triangle. She cares for Spencer, but she blames herself for the mess that sleeping together caused. Indi thinks Sasha should stay. She’s not the only Walker questioning the move; Dex worries about whether he and April should go to Broken Hill. It all seems overwhelming, and Indi’s disappointed that she’ll be the only Walker left. April tries to feel upbeat about it, but Irene guesses that April won’t go in the end – her life is here. April sees the light and agonises how to tell Dex that she doesn’t want to leave. Heath decides to throw a going away party for Sid and the family. The whole town turns out for the farewell. Dex admits to Sid that he can’t go to Broken Hill and Sid reveals he never expected Dex to give up his life here. As John blusters on with his farewell speech, April and Dex are finally on the same page. Sasha, however, is sad to find out they’re not going with her. The next day the community shows up to see Sid and Sasha off, even though Spencer can’t bring himself to show up. The pair head off for their future in Broken Hill. Meanwhile, Dex and Indi are already arguing about who gets the master bedroom.

Things are strained between Kyle and Tamara, with Kyle still struggling with the choice between the girl he loves or the brother he always wanted. He’s not happy about the damage he’s done to his relationship with Casey. Brax tells Kyle that Casey won’t forgive him any time soon, so he shouldn’t stuff Tamara around. Ricky and Tamara are having a friendly chat when Tamara experiences a flashback - Ricky screaming at Adam. Tamara goes straight to April, who believes Ricky is a trigger for her memory returning. At Sid’s farewell party Kyle walks out after hearing Brax and Sid talk about the importance of family. Brax follows Kyle and makes him realise that he can’t be Casey’s brother and date Tamara. But he can relate to Kyle as Casey’s angry at him right now for dating Ricky. Kyle can’t be a fence sitter – make a decision and deal with the consequences. Kyle chooses Tamara, despite the way it hurts Casey. Ricky and Brax sneak out of the party and are in a good place for the first time since Adam. But their happiness is punctured when Brax is served – he has to appear in court to testify against Ricky.
