Soon afterwards, Dexter visits the launderette and makes it clear to Cora that he's not pleased with her for failing to tell him the truth. Cora ends up giving Dexter some words of advice on how to deal with the situation, while Phil also tries to intervene when he sees how angry his young employee is.
Later, Dexter asks to speak to Sam alone and makes it clear that he still wants him to leave. When Sam insists that he isn't going to hurt him or Ava, it seems that Dexter could be about to thaw. However, when Dexter then overhears Sam telling Ava that he can handle him, he is furious and he gives his mum a choice - either Sam goes or he does…
Ian is questioned by the police.
Meanwhile, a panicking Ian tells Carl that he wasn't responsible for the police being called over the restaurant damage. Although Carl had nothing to do with the damage, he keeps his cards close to his chest and doesn't reveal this to Ian. At the same time, Peter has come to the wrong conclusion that Whitney is responsible for the incident.
Later, when Bianca realises that Peter suspects Whitney, she rushes home to find that the police are already speaking to her. When the police leave, Peter arrives and explains that Ian has told the police to drop the case, telling Whitney that she has got away with it. Bianca doesn't say a word, which causes Whitney to assume that Bianca thinks she is guilty. Soon afterwards, Ian is forced to confide in Peter about Carl's blackmail and how this might have been a warning shot. At the Butchers', Bianca informs Whitney that the reason she didn't stand up for her was because the accident was caused by her.
Elsewhere, Max leaves Kirsty heartbroken by asking for her wedding ring back, while Michael convinces Alice to get her nanny job back and is delighted when Janine agrees to the idea - but is it all part of their game?
Tuesday
Ava tries to convince Dexter to drop his ultimatum, but he remains adamant that he'll be leaving if Sam isn't gone by 5pm. As a result, Ava makes the heartbreaking decision to end her relationship with Sam. Soon afterwards, Sam makes one last attempt to get Dexter to approve of his relationship with Ava, claiming that it's the least she deserves after everything she has done for him. Jay and Abi also urge Dexter to think about how he'd really feel if he never saw his dad again.
When Dexter arrives home and hears that Ava is crying, it's the final straw and he rushes to find Sam. Dexter tracks Sam down at the station just in time, and they both head back to the flat together. Ava is grateful that Dexter is prepared to give Sam a chance, but Dexter can't help but feel anxious about whether he's really done the right thing…
Meanwhile, Bianca feels guilty when Kat explains that she is worried about a stressed-out Jean. Soon afterwards, Kat overhears a suspicious conversation between Bianca and Jean, so Bianca is forced to tell her friend the truth. Kat is far from impressed and fears that Jean won't be able to cope with the pressure of keeping the secret. Kat insists that Bianca and Shirley should confess to Ian and explain that Jean was an innocent bystander. However, Jean doesn't like this idea and points out that she was a willing partaker.
Sharon and Dennis arrive back in the Square.
Elsewhere, Sharon returns with Dennis looking relaxed and in control, but she has nowhere to go. Sharon asks if she can stay with Dot, but Dot has to decline after her troubles with the council. Next on Sharon's list is Ian, but when he reveals that he fears falling ill again, she realises that it's not the right time to ask him. Later, Sharon approaches Phil and asks for her job back. Michael is delighted that his manipulation of Alice has worked again, but when he later spots Danny showing off some of his past work to Janine at The Vic, he realises that not all of his tactics have worked as well as he'd hoped.
Elsewhere, Jean receives the news that she's been given an allotment, so Kat advises her to spend some time there in the peace and quiet to take her mind off the accident at the restaurant. When Jean follows this advice, she gets chatting to Ollie, a fellow allotment owner. Ollie gives Jean some gardening tips and tells her that he will be there every day.
