Jean loses it with Ian.

Viewers will see the storyline begin when Jean (Gillian Wright) takes hints from her horoscope and comes to the wrong conclusion that Ian (Adam Woodyatt) fancies her.

In a fluster over her suspicions, Jean becomes clumsy in the kitchen at the restaurant. Knowing that he needs to keep Jean on side, Ian is complimentary even though she keeps messing up - but this just makes her even more wary over his intentions.

When Jean confides in Shirley Carter over Ian's supposed advances, an amused Shirley speculates that Ian is looking for comfort because he is fed up with current girlfriend Denise Fox.

Later, Ian is ecstatic when Jean puts her previous mishaps behind her and makes a perfect dish. Ian tells Jean that he could kiss her, but as he innocently grabs her by the shoulders, it's the final straw and she slaps him across the face…

EastEnders fans will see a small fire start at Ian Beale's restaurant next week after Bianca Butcher, Shirley Carter and Jean Slater sneak inside after hours.

The drama begins when Jean (Gillian Wright) storms out of work after being insulted by Ian, which prompts Bianca and Shirley to try cheering her up at The Vic.

When Jean realises that she has left her handbag behind at Scarlett's, Shirley (Linda Henry) comes up with a plan to retrieve it.

Later, the three women sneak into the closed restaurant to look for Jean's bag, but they're soon sidetracked by the free booze on offer.

As Shirley opens Ian's special bottle of brandy, she accidentally smashes it and the alcohol is ignited by a naked flame.

Fire then quickly spreads across the floor, leaving the woman terrified over the damage they've caused - in particular Bianca (Patsy Palmer), who fears being sent back to prison again…

Monday

Max is still reeling from recent events and upsets Cora by sending her away, telling her that he only wants family around at the moment. However, Abi is furious over Max's behaviour and reminds him that she'll need Cora around once he is back living at Kirsty's. With Abi getting so worked up over this, Max is forced to tell her about Kirsty's baby lie. After confronting Kirsty and confiding in Dexter, Abi starts to realise how hard this must be for Max. She apologises to her father for losing her temper, but it's all too much for Max and he breaks down in Abi's arms.

Later, an apologetic Max invites Cora over for dinner and reveals that it's over between him and Kirsty. This leads to a row between them over who is to blame for Tanya leaving, and Cora delivers a final blow by scoffing that another one of Max's marriages has been left in tatters. Not long afterwards, Max starts to collect his things from the flat, even though Kirsty begs him not to leave. Kirsty challenges Max to say that he doesn't love her, promising that she'll walk away if he does. Max can't bring himself to say it, but he still can't forgive her betrayal and follows through with his plan to walk out of her life.

Meanwhile, Ava invites Sam over to the flat so they can spend some time alone in secret. Later, Cora heads over there to visit her daughter, but when she arrives there's no answer. Looking through the window, Cora is shocked to see Ava cavorting with Sam.

Lucy kisses Joey.
Elsewhere, Lucy tells Joey that Lauren has gone away and is refusing to answer the phone to her because she thinks Lucy and Joey are an item. Joey is upset that Lucy caused this situation by not being honest with Lauren in the first place. Lucy comforts Joey with a kiss, but how will he respond?

Also today, Poppy resigns from Ian's restaurant as she has been made manageress at Booty, Jean gets the wrong impression that Ian fancies her when he gives her a glass of wine as a treat for all her hard work, while Ian is horrified when he realises that Carl has made a lunch reservation.

Tuesday

Janine instructs Billy to 'accidentally' let on to Michael that she is being pampered at an exclusive London hotel. Michael isn't sure whether to go there as he knows that Janine is playing games, but Alice encourages him to fight for Scarlett. When Michael finally appears at the hotel, Janine gleefully tells him that she's moving abroad and taking Scarlett with her. However, Michael retaliates by hitting Janine's weak spot, reminding her that Scarlett will feel exactly how Janine did every time her dad Frank left her.

When Janine questions why she would ever return to Walford, Michael leaves her wrong-footed once again by suggesting that she should come back for him. However, he soon does a u-turn by telling her that he doesn't really want her back on the Square - he only cares about his daughter. Michael warns Janine that one day he will get Scarlett back and he'll also get half of what Janine owns seeing as their pre-nup was destroyed. As Michael leaves the hotel, Michael prays that his plan has worked, while Janine is outraged that he wants her to stay away from her own home. As Janine packs her suitcases, has Michael tempted her to return to the Square, or has he merely driven her and Scarlett away forever?

Jean slaps Ian.
Meanwhile, Jean is flustered over her suspicions that Ian fancies her, which makes her clumsy in the kitchen at work. Knowing that he needs to keep Jean on side, Ian is complimentary even though she keeps messing up - which only fuels Jean's theory further. Jean confides in an amused Shirley about Ian's supposed advances, and she thinks that Jean might be right - Ian is probably turning to her for comfort because he can't keep up with Denise and her demanding ways. When Jean finally puts her mishaps behind her and creates a perfect dish, Ian is delighted and declares that he could kiss her. However, as he grabs her by the shoulders, it's the final straw for Jean and she slaps him.

Elsewhere, Kirsty is hurt when Dot asks her to return the booties that she knitted for the baby. Carl is smug over what's happened and asks Kirsty out for dinner, but she rebuffs him. Carl also pays a visit to the restaurant, where a worried Ian explains that he doesn't have any cash for him. Carl tells him that dinner will do for now.

Also today, Cora advises Ava to end things with Sam or tell Dexter the truth.

Thursday
When Ian throws some nasty insults in Jean's direction at the restaurant, she storms out alongside Denise and Whitney. Ian wants Whitney to hold the fort while he goes after Denise, but when she refuses, he fires her. Soon afterwards, Bianca and Shirley try to cheer up Jean at The Vic. When Jean suddenly realises that she has left her handbag at the restaurant, she sneaks inside after hours with Bianca and Shirley. A quick-thinking Shirley lights dozens of candles so that nobody realises they're inside, but she and Bianca are soon distracted by the free booze on offer. As Shirley opens Ian's special bottle of brandy, she accidentally smashes it and the alcohol is ignited by a naked flame.

The fire starts to spread.
The fire quickly spreads across the floor, but the three women manage to extinguish the flames by throwing water onto them. Bianca is immediately terrified as she knows that she will be sent back to prison if she's linked to this incident. Jean doesn't think it's right to leave the restaurant in a state, but when the automatic sprinkler system switches on and drenches the entire restaurant, all three women make a run for it…

Meanwhile, Ian heads over to the B&B with a bottle of wine as a peace offering for Denise, but Kim warns him that it's going to take a lot more than that. Soon afterwards, Denise tells Ian that she thinks they should take a break from their relationship. However, when Ian explains that he just wants their romance and the business to be a success, Denise relents and decides that their break is over.

Elsewhere, Billy informs Michael that Janine is on her way to the airport. A shocked Michael finally admits to Billy that he wants Janine to come back to the Square as she is the mother of his child. Later, Michael sees Janine's chauffer-driven car pull up outside her house. Over at Janine's, Billy then plays her a recording of Michael telling him that he wants her back in Walford. Janine is delighted to hear that Michael wants her there, while Michael is also on a high as he thinks his plan has worked.

Also today, Ava tells Sam that she can't be with him but quickly changes her mind, while Max rebuffs Kirsty when she tries to talk to him - even though it's clear they still care about each other

Friday

When Ian discovers that his restaurant has been trashed, he immediately assumes that Carl must be behind it. At the same time, Bianca and Shirley are panicking as they can't find Jean and are worried that she might tell the truth. When they eventually track her down, they convince Jean to head back to work like nothing has happened. Jean reluctantly agrees, but soon bursts into tears before leaving again. Fortunately for her, Ian assumes that her odd behaviour is just because of the way he's been treating her.

Later, Janine hears about the incident at the restaurant and isn't pleased. She bursts into Scarlett's and calls the police, much to Ian's horror. With the pressure intensifying, will Jean crack?

Meanwhile, Kat suggests that Michael should stop playing games with Janine, adding that he should get back on Janine's good side if he wants to see Scarlett. Michael then heads to Butcher's Joints, where Billy tells him that Janine just wants to feel wanted. Taking this information on board, Michael hatches a plan and tells Janine that he is going to back off. The former couple's sexual tension is reignited when Michael says that he's glad Janine is back as his life is dull without her.

Dexter walks in on Sam and Ava.
Elsewhere, Cora is annoyed when she discovers that Ava is still keeping Dexter in the dark over her relationship with Sam. Cora warns Ava that she will tell Dexter the truth herself if she doesn't do it by lunchtime. Ava prepares herself to finally be honest with her son, but ultimately bottles it yet again. Later, Ava tells Sam that she wasn't able to tell Dexter the truth - but what will happen when Dexter suddenly walks in on the pair?

Also today, Patrick pairs himself up with another dance partner named Betty when Cora turns down the chance to go dancing with him. Cora later changes her mind, but when she sees Betty is on the scene, she declines the opportunity to go along as a trio.

EastEnders' Jean Slater will be left in turmoil in the aftermath of the fire drama at Ian Beale's restaurant.

As revealed yesterday, Jean, Bianca and Shirley accidentally start the blaze after sneaking into Scarlett's after hours.

The fire doesn't last for long as the three women manage to extinguish the flames by throwing water onto them.

Unfortunately, the damage to the business isn't over as the automatic sprinkler system then switches on, drenching the whole restaurant.

Knowing how bad things look, Jean (Gillian Wright), Bianca (Patsy Palmer) and Shirley (Linda Henry) all flee the scene and hope they won't be caught.

The next day, Bianca and Shirley urge Jean to head to work like nothing has happened - warning that Bianca could be sent back to prison if they're linked to the incident. However, Jean finds it difficult to keep a lid on her guilt.

Jean Slater faces another crisis of conscience in EastEnders tonight (July 4) after a fire starts at Ian Beale's restaurant.

The frightening incident occurs as Jean (Gillian Wright) enjoys a secret drinking session with Bianca Butcher and Shirley Carter, having all snuck into the building after hours.

Jean only agrees to the idea because she has left her handbag behind at work and wants to retrieve it, but she soon succumbs to pressure from Bianca and Shirley and starts to enjoy the free booze on offer.

As the ladies bond, disaster strikes when Shirley accidentally drops a bottle of brandy and the alcohol is ignited by a naked flame.
