EastEnders businessman Michael Moon is tempted by Alice Branning shortly before his estranged wife Janine arrives back on Albert Square.
Michael (Steve John Shepherd) turns to Alice for babysitting help later this month, unaware that she is hoping for a relationship with him.
A stressed-out Michael needs the extra support as he is left with a big workload when his business partner Jack decides to leave the Square for a while after calling off his wedding to Sharon Rickman.
Alice (Jasmyn Banks) is delighted to have the chance to impress Michael, so she gets a new hairstyle and seeks advice from Poppy Meadow on how to impress her 'mystery man'.
Later, Alice puts all of Poppy's advice into action when she sees Michael, and she thinks her efforts are working when he buys her some perfume as a thank-you gift for helping out with Scarlett.
When Alice misreads the signals and makes a move on Michael, will he be interested?

0SubmitEastEnders favourite Janine Butcher causes a stir as soon as she returns to Walford next week, immediately clashing with Kat Moon.
Janine (Charlie Brooks) is full of confidence after her six-month break from Albert Square, but her estranged husband Michael is gobsmacked to see her back without any warning.
Before Michael (Steve John Shepherd) can stop her, Janine marches straight back into her house, where she finds Kat (Jessie Wallace) and a dinner table set for two.
Janine instantly assumes that something is going on between Kat and Michael, which leads to a bitchy exchange of words between the two women.

Although Janine is initially cagey regarding her intentions, she eventually makes it clear that Michael will soon be hearing from her solicitor - she's not back for him, but for baby Scarlett…

Monday
Ian and Tanya visit Phil to find out where Sharon is, but he lies by telling them that she has gone to Norfolk. However, when Kim spots Phil buying shampoo at the Minute Mart, she puts two and two together and realises that Sharon must be staying with him. As news of Kim's discovery spreads, Denise, Ian and Tanya all decide to visit Sharon. Ian puts his foot in it when he tells Sharon that he overheard Kim insinuating that Sharon has a guilty conscience which is why she is hiding. Sharon decides that it's time to go back to work to silence the gossips.
Sharon lashes out in the cafe.
Later, Tanya has taken Dennis to the café with Oscar for a while to give Sharon some space. Dennis is ecstatic when Jack walks in and he runs over to him. When Sharon arrives and Dennis ignores her, she shouts at him, shocking everyone with her angry behaviour. Back at Phil's house, Dennis starts packing a bag as he is secretly planning to leave…
Meanwhile, Max tells Kirsty that they should think about starting the abortion process. However, Kirsty warns him that she won't be bullied into anything - it's her body and her decision.
Elsewhere, when Bianca sees Steve back in Walford, she realises that Carol hasn't ended their relationship. When a furious Bianca confronts her, Carol promises to meet Steve later that night to sort things out. Realising that Carol has a lot on her plate, Masood intervenes by going to see Steve and explaining the situation to him. Carol hasn't asked him to do this, but Steve is upset that she has ignored his calls and has now allowed someone else to do her dirty work for her.
Also today, Liam plucks up the courage to apologise to Masood for everything, Phil allows Lola to look after Lexi for the afternoon, while Joey decides to run the marathon for a heart disease charity but Lauren is distracted by her predicament with Kirsty and doesn't seem interested.
Tuesday
Lauren warns Max that she isn't prepared to keep hiding Kirsty's secret, so he promises to tell Tanya the truth today. Soon afterwards, Lauren joins Lucy, Whitney, Tyler and Joey for lunch in The Vic, but they're all left embarrassed when she has far too much to drink. Joey tells Lauren that he can't keep watching her do this to herself and leaves.
Later, Lauren tells Kirsty that just because she is having a baby with Max, it won't stop him leaving her, just like it didn't stop him from walking out on his family. This warning makes an immediate impact on Kirsty, who goes to find Max and tells him that she will book the abortion if that's what he wants. Back at the Branning house, Tanya isn't pleased when Lauren arrives home drunk. Lauren blames the Branning family secrets for her behaviour, before dropping the bombshell that Kirsty is pregnant. Tanya is shellshocked over the news.
Sharon tells Jack to leave her alone.
Meanwhile, when Jack visits Phil's house to check on Dennis, Sharon turns him away - insisting that he gave up any right to care about Dennis. Later, however, Sharon needs Jack's help when she discovers that Dennis has run away. Fortunately, it's not long before Jack finds an upset Dennis hiding in the gym. When Jack drops Dennis back at Phil's, he leaves a note for Sharon before heading back home and packing his bags. He then goes to The Vic and says goodbye to Amy, telling Roxy that he's going away for a little while but it has nothing to do with Ronnie.
That afternoon, Sharon finally notices the letter from Jack, which says that he is going away for a while and she and Dennis can stay at his flat until he returns. Sharon rushes over to Jack's, but he is already pulling away in his car and fails to see her.
Elsewhere, Shirley helps Denise remove some lads who threaten to steal from the Minute Mart. Later at McKlunky's, Shirley has another run-in with the boys and ends up getting fired due to the row. When Denise hears what has happened, she offers Shirley a few hours' work at the shop but instantly regrets her decision.
Also today, Dexter invites Cora around for dinner but Ava isn't pleased and revokes the invitation, while Ian is still keen to open up a new restaurant but Lucy tells him that he isn't being realistic.
Thursday
Michael is stressed over Jack's decision to leave for a while, so he asks Alice for some extra help. Alice is delighted to have the chance to impress Michael, so she gets a new hairstyle and seeks advice from Poppy on how to impress her 'mystery man'. Later, Alice puts all of Poppy's advice into action when she sees Michael. She thinks her efforts are working, but ends up misreading all the signals and makes a move on him. Although Michael is tempted, he rebuffs Alice's advances.
Janine arrives back in Walford.
Embarrassed by her mistake, Alice tells Michael that she can't work for him anymore. However, Michael is in desperate need of her help and convinces her to change her mind. Later, Kat arrives at Michael's, wanting to know what he's done to upset Alice. Michael explains that he turned Alice down when she made a move on him because he wants to focus on Scarlett. Michael and Kat bond over their children, but they're interrupted when the doorbell rings. As Michael opens the door, he is stunned to see Janine standing in front of him…
Meanwhile, Kirsty tells Max that she's had had a consultation and will be going back later to have the abortion. However, she is adamant that she doesn't want him to go with her. At the same time, Tanya tries to give Max the opportunity to tell her about Kirsty's pregnancy, but he continues to keep quiet.
Later, Kat realises something is up with Kirsty, so Kirsty tells her about the baby and her plan to have an abortion. Kat offers to go with her, but Kirsty lies that Max will be there to support her. When Kat realises that this isn't true, she urges Max to be at Kirsty's side while she goes through this. Taking this on board, Max rushes off to find Kirsty and catches her just in time. Determined to go with her, he rushes into the car, but is soon confronted by Tanya who tells him that she knows about the baby…
Elsewhere, Sharon moves her things back into Jack's place. Later, while paying a visit to Tanya's, Sharon cuts her fingers and looks for a plaster. She then comes across Tanya's painkillers, takes a pill and pockets the entire packet…
Also today, Shirley questions Phil about Sharon when he pops into the Minute Mart, while Lucy refuses to re-mortgage the flat so that Ian can let the Emporium for his new restaurant business
Friday
As Janine marches back into her house, she is surprised to find Kat and a dinner table set for two. She instantly assumes that something is going on between Kat and Michael, but Kat sets her straight. Kat also questions Janine on her whereabouts over the past few months, making it very clear what she thinks about her mothering skills. However, as Kat continues to defend Michael, Janine makes a cruel remark about Tommy.
Once Kat has left, tensions are running high between Janine and Michael. Janine is claiming that she's back on business, but Michael isn't fully trusting of her and doesn't seem to want her anywhere near Scarlett. Reflecting on her time away, Janine admits that while she has been with other men, there is still a part of her that feels empty and alone.
When Michael asks Janine directly whether she wants him and Scarlett back, she replies by telling him that he'll know soon enough why she's really back. As she heads out to leave again, Janine warns that he'll soon be hearing from her solicitor - she isn't back for him, but for her daughter…
Tanya questions Max.
Meanwhile, Tanya questions Max about why he didn't tell her about Kirsty's pregnancy. Max admits that it's because he doesn't think things are totally over between him and Tanya, especially after Sharon told him that Tanya regrets their split. Tanya insists that whatever may have been, Kirsty is now having his baby. However, Max points out that Kirsty is having an abortion.
Realising that Max has asked Kirsty to have an abortion because he's keeping his options open, Tanya rebukes him for the way he's treating his wife. Staying strong, Tanya tells Max that there is no way back for them. She encourages him to talk to Kirsty before it's too late.
Elsewhere, Kat tries to help a friend in need, but ends up being burdened with a secret she knows will only cause more trouble.
Charlie Brooks has said that she can understand why her character Janine Butcher wanted a break from Walford.
Janine returns to Albert Square next week after more than six months away, and she means business as she prepares to fight estranged husband Michael for custody of their baby daughter Scarlett.
Speaking on This Morning today (April 11), Brooks explained that Janine was in desperate need of the time away.
Brooks commented: "She was traumatised, I think, by the slight mental abuse that Michael put her through before she went, with the premature baby and everything else.
"She wasn't ready for parenthood. I don't think she had a partner she could trust or rely on. He didn't support her in any way and made her feel like a terrible mother. I think that caused a lot of anxiety and post-natal depression."
She continued: "I sympathise with her! I always have sympathised with Janine as a character, and I think it's important as an actress to have that. I always find myself justifying her."
Knowing she has a tough battle on her hands with Michael, Janine tries to win support from some of the locals.
Brooks revealed: "She definitely uses her powers. She always has a nice little hold over Billy Mitchell, so she goes to him immediately and tries to get the business back up and running. She means business this time - she's dressed with powerful boots and a coat. She tries to make people understand a little bit about the situation and why it happened."
Off screen, the actress will be going travelling again next week as she takes on a five-day trek in Jordan for charity.
She said: "I am going trekking next week through the desert in Jordan for the Willow Foundation, which is a local cancer charity, as part of Britain vs. Cancer. So I'm going there, which I'm really excited about, with 100 other people next Thursday. It impacts slightly [on EastEnders], but it all works with the storyline."
EastEnders airs Janine's return scenes on Thursday, April 18 at 7.30pm on BBC One.
