Coronation Street star Georgia May Foote has revealed that she believes she has no chance of winning the 'Sexiest Female' title at the British Soap Awards against co-star Michelle Keegan.

Foote and Keegan have both been shortlisted in the 'Sexiest Female' category. Keegan has won the award for the last four years.

Speaking to The Mirror, Foote said: "I'm not confident at all. I've no chance because I'm up against my Corrie co-star Michelle Keegan.

"I've spoken to her about it quite a lot and Michelle is actually rooting for someone other than her to win this time.

"I'd be both proud and mortified if I won because I couldn't live up to the title. I don't think I'm sexy at all - I don't even like to wear high heels!"

Foote also admitted that her character Katy's recent love triangle with Chesney and Ryan has allowed viewers to see her in a different light.

The actress said: "This love triangle storyline with Katy, Chesney and Ryan has definitely been a big breakthrough for my career and I'm loving being busy filming so many great scenes.

"I'm happy that Katy has vamped up her image a bit. I'm getting lots of lovely comments from people about my appearance, because they're not used to seeing me in so many glamorous photoshoots.

"It's exciting to be involved in that side of things, because it's a nice change from the routine of work."

EastEnders has emerged as the bookies' favourite to win the top prize at next month's British Soap Awards.

William Hill has made the Walford show the frontrunner in the 'Best Soap' betting with odds of 4/7, followed by Coronation Street in second place at 7/4.

Emmerdale, Hollyoaks and Doctors are currently seen as less likely options for the coveted gong with respective odds of 10/1, 16/1 and 33/1.

EastEnders has won the 'Best Soap' prize at the last five Soap Award ceremonies, though Corrie has been on a good run at other events this year with triumphs at the NTAs, Broadcast Awards, TRIC Awards and RTS Awards.

Meanwhile, Corrie star Michelle Keegan (Tina McIntyre) is being tipped to win both the 'Sexiest Female' and 'Best Actress' awards this year.

Elsewhere, Keegan's former colleague Natalie Gumede (Kirsty Soames) is favourite for 'Villain of the Year' with odds of 1/2.

William Hill spokesman Rupert Adams said: "This is the first time we have bet on the 'Villain of the Year', and Natalie looks a banker to win the trophy."

The odds in full are:

Best Soap
4/7 - EastEnders
7/4 - Coronation Street
10/1 - Emmerdale
16/1 - Hollyoaks
33/1 - Doctors

Coronation Street star Alan Halsall has joked his co-star Simon Gregson is jealous that he has four British Soap Award nominations, while Gregson has none.

The actor, who plays Tyrone Dobbs, has been shortlisted in the 'Best Storyline', 'Best Episode', 'Best On-Screen Partnership' and 'Best Actor' categories.

Halsall has said he is "thrilled and over the moon" with the nominations but admitted that he can't resist teasing his co-stars who aren't nominated.

Speaking to MSN, the actor jested: "Obviously it's a bit awkward this year 'cause Simon Gregson's not up for an award and I think he's spat his dummy out a little bit.

"That's where the problems therefore lie, because I think basically he's just very jealous.

"Not only is he jealous that I'm nominated for the award but I think he's also jealous of my hairline. So that's where the banter comes from."

"I don't think I've got my head around it just yet because I've loved doing the story, so you don't really think about the awards until they come along. The main one being a public vote, that means a lot."

However, Halsall admitted that he is already dreading walking the red carpet at the awards ceremony in May.

He added: "I'm not too comfortable with all that really. I have one standard smile which is like a big grin. To be honest I just want to get in, get to the bar and start chatting. I just feel out of place."

Emmerdale star Natalie Anderson has admitted that being shortlisted in the 'Sexiest Female' category at the soap awards is 'extremely flattering'.

The actress, who plays Alicia Gallagher, revealed that she feels 'far from sexy' and holds the make-up department responsible for her being noticed.

Writing on her Hello! blog, Anderson said: "The shortlists for the British Soap Awards were announced this week and I'm so thrilled that Emmerdale has been nominated for 15 awards.

"It would be so lovely if we picked something up at the ceremony this year, particularly as the end of last year was our 40th birthday and we celebrated with an amazing live episode. I was on maternity leave at the time so I watched from home. I could not have been prouder of all of my colleagues, it was incredible!

"I personally have been nominated for the 'Sexiest Female' which is extremely flattering as most mornings you'll find me in a tracksuit with frizzy hair and covered in baby mess and I feel far from sexy. I have a lot to thank our amazing make-up department and the inventor of ceramic hair straighteners for!"

Anderson also revealed that she and her husband James have been busy filming the Christmas special of All Star Mr and Mrs.

The actress said: "My husband James and I filmed the Christmas special of All Star Mr and Mrs with the very lovely Phillip Schofield, Jane McDonald and her fiancé Ed and Jimmy and Pauline Tarbuck.

"As much as I love Christmas (my tree goes up on 1 December without fail!), it was quite surreal having the audience wearing Santa hats and singing Slade in the middle of April. In fact I would go as far as to say it was a little unsettling! I'm not very good with things being out of order, spring is for Easter and bank holidays and that is that."

ITV has confirmed the air date for the British Soap Awards 2013.

The ceremony will be broadcast on Sunday, May 19 from 8pm to 10pm, just one day after the show itself takes place.

The gap before transmission marks a change from previous years, with ITV traditionally waiting until the subsequent Wednesday to air its coverage.

This year's British Soap Awards, hosted by Phillip Schofield, finds Coronation Street up for the most prizes with 18 nominations.

EastEnders and Hollyoaks are contesting 17 and 16 categories respectively, while Emmerdale (14 nominations) and Doctors (nine nominations) make up the shortlist.

EastEnders has emerged as the bookies' favourite to win 'Best Soap' ahead of its rivals.

Coronation Street's Chris Fountain has spoken about his 'Sexiest Male' nomination at this year's British Soap Awards.

The Tommy Duckworth actor said that he would love to win the award alongside co-star Michelle Keegan as 'Sexiest Female', PA reports.

Fountain is up against Emmerdale's Matthew Wolfenden, Hollyoaks stars Kieron Richardson and Danny Mac and EastEnders actor David Witts in the category.

Speaking of his nomination, he said: "I'm flattered, it's really nice to be nominated for anything, and I was going to say for the recognition, but it's not one of those types of awards."

He admitted that he thinks he is unlikely to get as many nominations as his co-star Michelle Keegan has over the years.

"I think Michelle Keegan has got the world record for most times winning 'Sexiest Female' now, but I think it'd be nice if we both won - that'd be great."

This year's awards ceremony takes place in Manchester next Saturday (May 18), and will be broadcast on ITV a day later on May 19 at 8pm.

It is the second consecutive year that the ceremony has been held in Manchester, and Fountain admitted that it is "nice to have it right around the corner".

The 25-year-old explained: "It's nice to have it right round the corner from work, so I'm looking forward to having it back again this year - it means you don't have to traipse down to London with loads of carrier bags, suits, suitcases and all that."

It's about time the other soaps got a look in - it's embarrassing when the big two clean up year after year, particularly when an actor in Emmerdale, say, has acted his socks off all year and the likes of Shane Ritchie walks off with the gong - just for playing himself (as per most of the Eastenders cast).

stuart blackburn has done himself no favours after his little rant today. yes corrie did deserve some of the awards it got at the BSA'S. it has been at the top of its game and at times has been outstanding. eastenders did deserve to get just one award for a very patchey year.

What Mr Blackbird sorry burn needs to realise is (a) he was not producer at this time, it was phil collinson, (b) in this business when you reach the top there is only one way to go and (c) with the bad publicity and tarnished image facing the show (behing the scenes) i would think keeping a low profile might be the way to go. in the past i have stuck up for stuart blackburn as i thought he got a raw deal from emmerdale fans. I thought he did a good job as series producer on emmerdale.

Credit to Eastenders for the way they conducted themselves on which was a disaster of a night and humiliating. Some of the Corrie crowd, i wont mention their names (we all know who they are) need to be taken down a peg or 3!!!!!! :( anyway if we are talking about best serial drama i would have given that to emmerdale. :)
