Home and Away star Catherine Mack has revealed more details of the new love triangle storyline ahead for her character Natalie Davison.

Viewers have seen Natalie have an on-off relationship with bad boy Brax (Steve Peacocke) in recent months, but an upcoming plot twist sees her grow closer to ex-boyfriend Zac Maguire, played by new cast member Charlie Clausen.

As previously reported, Zac is a prison education officer, who is introduced to the Summer Bay soap when Natalie asks him to keep an eye on Casey Braxton (Lincoln Younes) while he is in jail.

Discussing Natalie's history with Zac, Mack told TV Week: "He was a couple of years above her at university and they had a relationship. They thought they would be together for the rest of their lives.

"They were really in love. But, without giving too much away, he did some bad things in his past, which meant that they couldn't be together anymore, so they broke up.

"They hadn't seen each other since uni but she knew he worked in the prison system, so she gave him a call to help out Casey, not thinking that it was really anything at all."

Confirming that Zac is now a reformed character, the actress continued: "Zac is as good as a guy can get. Almost too good. He's right for her, but she's still drawn to Brax as a bad boy."

However, Brax manages to alienate Natalie yet again when he reacts badly to the news that Casey has been beaten up by fellow inmate Courtney.

Confronting Natalie over the situation, an angry Brax demands to know why Zac didn't do anything to prevent the attack.

Asked whether Brax should be worried about Zac winning back Natalie, Mack replied: "I think so. Brax hasn't got his act together!"

Home and Away airs these scenes next week on Network Seven in Australia, and late February on Channel 5 in the UK.

Home and Away star Catherine Mack has revealed that her character Natalie Davison is moving on from bad boy Brax.

Natalie developed an attraction to Brax (Steve Peacocke) shortly after joining Summer Bay last year, but their on-off relationship may now be over for good.

Upcoming episodes of the Summer Bay soap see Natalie decide to focus all of her attention on ex-lover Zac MacGuire (Charlie Clausen) rather than Brax.

Mack told TV Week: "She's tried so hard to make things work with Brax, but she's like, 'I have to move on'. Zac was a couple of years above her at uni and they dated, but then they had to end it suddenly. She's quite curious about Zac, so her feelings have resurfaced."

The actress continued: "She's torn between them. There's the bad boy and then this ex-lover, who to everyone else in Summer Bay is a bit of a mystery. But she knows everything about Zac and I think she's better suited to him."

With the love triangle intensifying, Brax will lose his temper with Zac, believing that the prison education officer isn't doing enough to protect his brother Casey during his time at detention centre.

As Natalie is unhappy over Brax's outburst, her resolve to forget about their relationship is strengthened.

Mack added: "There are always the bad boys you're attracted to, but I think as you grow up, you realise that's not the person you want to be with.

"[Zac's] such a great guy, he's a really good human being and she wants to try it. She's still attracted to him."

Home and Away airs these scenes next week on Network Seven in Australia, and late March on Channel 5 in the UK.

Home and Away star Catherine Mack has left the soap.

The actress has already filmed her final scenes as school counsellor Natalie Davison and will bow out on screen later this year.

Confirming her departure, Mack told TV Week: "It was time for Natalie to leave the Bay, as she had some unfinished business with her family to attend to. She really needed to move forward with her life."

She added: "[Home and Away] was such an incredible experience. I'm now looking forward to what's next."

Mack only joined the Summer Bay show a year ago, when Natalie was introduced as a new love interest for Darryl 'Brax' Braxton (Steve Peacocke).

The on-off pair later broke up for good and Natalie reunited with old flame Zac MacGuire (Charlie Clausen) following his arrival in the Bay.

Natalie's time on screen also saw her helping out Brax's younger brother Casey (Lincoln Younes) and a number of the other teen characters as part of her counsellor role.

I couldn't stand Natalie - she was interfering and completely unprofessional at times. I'm really glad she's leaving.

she was good when she was with brax but the character was never really fleshed out on her own just thrown into the braxton drama

Her acting is terrible...she probably should have stayed a bit longer for the experience, before trying to move on to something else :/

Home and Away star Catherine Mack has revealed that she is busy working on a number of new projects following her departure from the soap.

Last month, it was confirmed that the actress had finished filming as Summer Bay's Natalie Davison after only a year in the role.

Natalie's exit scenes will air in Australia this month and in September for the UK audience.

Mack told TV Week: "I had a really wonderful time being in the show, but I'm just looking forward to the next step.

"At the moment I'm developing a TV series with Zoe Cramond from Packed to the Rafters. It's completely under wraps because it's in the early stages of development.

"I'm also learning Spanish for a role in an independent movie that's being shot in South America. They haven't slated the production for that, so it's just something on the back burner I've got to start prepping for."

Mack is also busy working on a book, which will contain contributions from a variety of inspirational women.

Asked about the chances of a return for Natalie, she replied: "Who knows? Even if you get killed off, you can be brought back as a ghost!"
