Oh that would be great having him back
Former EastEnders star Michael French has been tipped to make a return to the soap. :D
The actor's character David Wicks will arrive back in Walford in mid-September, according to The Mirror today (May 8).
While show bosses have yet to confirm the rumours, insiders suggest that French has already agreed terms for his return in discussions with producers.
An EastEnders source told the newspaper: "Michael's return to the soap is a huge coup for the BBC, and viewers will see his character back to his charming, cunning best. He has also been assured of a couple of major forthcoming storylines.
"He's a bit older, but David still sees himself as a womaniser and is sure to break a few hearts third time around."
EastEnders fans last saw David for a short stint in January 2012, when he returned to Albert Square to say goodbye to his mother Pat (Pam St Clement) before she died.
David reignited his relationship with Carol Jackson (Lindsey Coulson) during his stay in Walford, but later made the heartbreaking decision to leave without her following threats from her brother Derek.
Since then, David has been mentioned in other scripts as he wrote to Carol late last year. As the letter was intercepted by Derek, Carol only discovered it after her meddling sibling had passed away.
French's original stint in EastEnders ran between 1993 and 1996. He is also known for his role as Nick Jordan on Casualty, but left the BBC medical drama at the beginning of the year.
EastEnders star Nitin Ganatra has admitted that his on-screen romance might run into trouble if David Wicks returns to Walford.
The actor's character Masood Ahmed is currently dating Carol Jackson (Lindsey Coulson) following the departure of his long-term partner Zainab.
Whether the couple last the distance remains to be seen, as tabloid reports have recently tipped Michael French to reprise his role as Carol's old flame David.
Speaking to PA about David's rumoured return, Ganatra confessed: "I don't think Masood can compete."
However, he added: "Masood's glass is half full. He's just gone from a 30-year relationship, to a 24-year-old girl, to a 54-year-old woman - there's nothing to complain about.
"Lindsey and I have fun, and we get along really well, so that's really nice. We giggle a lot."
EastEnders bosses have so far declined to comment on reports of David's return, but insiders suggest that he could be back on screen in September.
I can't see Michael French returning again to be honest, though I may be wrong. I'm not sure why but I feel the situation is similar to Ross Kemp/Grant Mitchell, with returns only being temporary. I hope he does return though, in a bit of a Den could return because Dalton was dead, David could return because Derek has. Without Derek I think David and Carol could go the distance.

EastEnders bosses have confirmed that Michael French is returning to the soap.
The actor has agreed to reprise his role as David Wicks, who will be back on screen later this year.
Little is known about why David heads back to Albert Square, but show chiefs are promising that he will cause a stir for the other Walford residents.
EastEnders' executive producer Lorraine Newman commented: "It's an absolute honour to have Michael back in the show. Michael created an iconic character in David and with such rich history - with Ian, Bianca and of course Carol - there's plenty to explore in the future."
Rumours of a return for David first emerged in May this year, but producers kept tight-lipped over their plans until today.
David was last seen on screen for a short stint in January 2012, when he returned to Albert Square to say goodbye to his mother Pat before she died.
He also reignited his romance with Carol (Lindsey Coulson), but later left her heartbroken by departing the Square without her.
Since then, David has tried to get in touch with Carol, but her meddling brother Derek intercepted the letters and hid them away. It wasn't until after Derek died that Carol realised what had happened, but she has struggled to get back in touch with David.

And today the Daily Star Sunday can exclusively reveal the details of womaniser *David Wicks’ return to Albert Square.
In scenes to be screened next month love rat David, played by Michael French, turns up on his ex-lover Carol Jackson’s doorstep with his new girlfriend Naomi on his arm.
Soap chiefs hope his return, combined with that of Peggy Mitchell following her son Phil’s car crash, will entice viewers back to the show.
Shocked Carol, played by *Lindsey Coulson, cannot believe what she’s seeing as David *arrogantly walks into her home asking to see daughter Bianca. Feisty Bianca Butcher is away and it’s down to Carol to explain to children Liam, Tiffany and Morgan what’s going on with their grandad and his girlfriend, played by Lisa Maxwell.
The visit leaves Carol shaken as she has no idea why David has returned to Walford.
A couple of days later all will become clear as David is beaten and left for dead when his dodgy past catches up with him.
“David is one man in Carol’s life she will always have a soft spot for. He’s her first love, but all he’s ever done is let her down”
An EastEnders source
He manages to stagger to * Carol’s house where he collapses on her doorstep. She takes him in, cleans him up and lets him stay with her and their grandchildren until he is back on his feet – much to the annoyance of her new man Masood Ahmed.
Charmer David was last seen in Walford in January 2012 when he returned to see his mum Pat Butcher, who was dying from cancer.
He rekindled his romance with childhood sweetheart Carol but left her heartbroken when he left without her after Pat’s funeral.
David’s return is also set to cause problems for Carol and Masood.
An EastEnders source said: “David is one man in Carol’s life she will always have a soft spot for. He’s her first love and the *father of her first-born Bianca. We saw the chemistry they had when David returned to see his mum. But all he’s ever done is let her down.”
David’s return comes as hard-man Phil Mitchell is fighting for his life following a car crash.
That spells the *return of Peggy Mitchell after *Barbara Windsor agreed to come back for a one-off special.
The source added: “This autumn in Albert Square is *going to be a must-see for soap fans.”

EastEnders star Michael French is to bow out from his role as David Wicks.
An EastEnders spokesperson confirmed the news to Digital Spy tonight (May 17), but show bosses want to keep further details under wraps to avoid spoiling future episodes for viewers.
Digital Spy understands that French only ever agreed to a short stint when he returned to EastEnders last autumn.
He later agreed to extend his deal when Dominic Treadwell-Collins arrived as executive producer, but it was always the plan for him to leave this year.
Viewers can still expect more drama to come on screen as David and Carol's wedding day arrives later this month. However, with David still keeping secrets from his bride-to-be, it's unclear whether they will make it down the aisle.

David shared a passionate kiss with Nikki Spraggan (Rachel Wilde) in January, which has since come back to haunt him as the mischievous blonde is determined to secure a repeat performance.
In the build-up to the ceremony, fans will be left to wonder whether David's secret connection to Nikki could ruin the big day.
French's original stint on EastEnders ran between 1993 and 1996. He made a brief reappearance as David in early 2012 for Pat Evans's exit episodes, before heading back to Walford once again in September 2013.

It was announced earlier this month that Michael French, who plays David, will be leaving the show.
EastEnders airs these scenes tonight (Thursday, May 29) at 7.30pm on BBC One.

EastEnders has confirmed that David Wicks will return to Walford next week, and will reunite with his ex, Cindy Beale.
In July, it was revealed that actor Michael French would be reprising his role as David for a short stint ? one of several big returns as the show gears up for its 40th anniversary next year.
Last week, the soap shared a first look at David reuniting with his daughter Bianca, as she continued to fight for her half-sister Sonia?s freedom.
Now, it has been announced that David will make his first appearance in Albert Square in 10 years on Monday, October 7.
He is quickly spotted by Cindy, and she is determined to stay away from her ex ? as David still believes her to be dead.
Cindy explains to George why David's return has spooked her so much, and he encourages her ex-wife to face up to her past.
David has a meeting with Reiss, who Bianca is rightly convinced killed Debbie. But he soon gets distracted when he sees Cindy standing in front of him.
He is shocked to see her alive and well and naturally has a lot of questions for her, and Cindy answers them as they catch up on the past two decades.
Meanwhile, an oblivious Ian tells Peter and Lauren that he and Cindy may get married again. He admits that he tried to propose before but messed things up.
But Ian is horrified when Bianca reveals that David is back in Albert Square. Viewers might remember that Ian isn't David's biggest fan ? after all, he hired a private investigator to expose his affair with Cindy back in the day.
Ian decides to make amends with Anna, after previously blaming her for Bobby leaving Walford several weeks ago, and tells her that he has a big plan for Cindy.
Elsewhere, David and Bianca get to have a proper catch up, and they make up for lost time with some deep conversations.
Later in the week, Cindy, who is also currently embroiled in an affair with Junior, faces a dramatic night where she is forced to juggle several tricky situations in her life.
What will David?s appearance in Albert Square mean for Cindy, Ian and Bianca?
