Neighbours star James Mason has said that his character Chris Pappas may need to "move on" from boyfriend Aidan Foster.

Chris decides to end his relationship in an upcoming storyline, feeling frustrated as Aidan (Bob Morley) is no longer being honest with him.

Viewers in the UK will soon see Aidan face a worrying setback when he is suspended by the Erinsborough Hospital, but he leaves Chris out in the cold by failing to confide in him about how he's really feeling.

Mason told TV Week: "What it came down to was Chris felt Aidan was becoming too independent - to the point where he wouldn't let Chris in or share anything with him. He found himself constantly shut out.

"Chris is reluctant to end the relationship, but feels Aidan won't change. He even seeks advice from Kyle about what to do."

Although Aidan begs for another chance, Chris stands firm by insisting that their romance is over.

Asked whether there is any hope for the pair, Mason replied: "This is the second time the two have split up. It might be time for Chris to move on."

Neighbours airs these scenes next week on Eleven in Australia and in February on Channel 5 in the UK.

Neighbours' Vanessa Villante will question her future with Rhys Lawson when she learns that her newborn son Patrick has a potentially fatal heart condition.

Australian viewers saw Vanessa accept a marriage proposal from Rhys after giving birth to Patrick in the 2012 season finale, leaving her baby's father Lucas Fitzgerald (Scott Major) jealous and heartbroken.

However, with Patrick's health her number one concern in upcoming episodes, Vanessa calls things off with Rhys and pledges to focus all of her attention on her son.

Alin Sumarwata, who plays Vanessa, told TV Week: "It's sad. Rhys is doing everything he can to be there for Vanessa and support her, but for some reason, everything he does just pushes them further apart. They just can't seem to connect.

"Vanessa also feels torn between Rhys and Lucas, who is now united with her in their concern for Patrick. But breaking off the engagement is heartbreaking for Vanessa."

On Patrick's health scare, she said: "The diagnosis tears her and Lucas's lives apart, and it comes so out of the blue."

Rhys isn't prepared to let Vanessa go so easily, but whether he can win her back remains to be seen.

Ben Barber, who recently finished filming in the role of Rhys, added: "Everything is now on the line in terms of Rhys and Vanessa's relationship."

Neighbours airs these scenes next week on Eleven in Australia and in February on Channel 5 in the UK.

Over on Neighbours, Rhys Lawson delivers devastating news to new parents Vanessa Villante and Lucas Fitzgerald.

Vanessa (Alin Sumarwata) and Lucas (Scott Major) are on a high following the arrival of their baby son Patrick, but they don't realise that the doctors have concerns for the newborn after discovering that he has an irregular heartbeat.

Rhys (Ben Barber) tells the pair that Patrick needs further tests, but he covers up the severity of the situation until it's confirmed that the youngster has a potentially fatal heart condition.

Although Rhys is keen to support his fiancée, he can't help but feel isolated as Vanessa and Lucas put on a united front and comfort each other.

In the end, Vanessa decides to call off her engagement to Rhys, feeling that Patrick needs her full attention at the moment. Will Rhys be able to change her mind?

Also coming up in Erinsborough, Chris Pappas loses patience with boyfriend Aidan Foster and ends their relationship.

Chris (James Mason) is struggling to cope with Aidan's repeated refusal to share any of his problems, leaving him out in the cold.

When Aidan (Bob Morley) has a heated clash with a workmate and fails to tell Chris about it, this turns out to be the final straw for the mechanic as he realises that they're never going to get past this issue.

Aidan is shocked when Chris declares that their romance is over, and even tries to win him back the next day by inviting Chris to live with him. Unfortunately, Chris stands firm and it seems that the pair are over for good.
