Lisa Riley could return to Emmerdale following her success on Strictly Come Dancing.
The actress, who left the dancing competition in last night's (December 16) semi-final, played Mandy Dingle in the ITV1 soap from 1995 to 2001.
New Emmerdale producer Kate Oates could offer Riley a deal to rejoin the cast, the Daily Star Sunday reports.
"Lisa has been a huge hit on Strictly so it's no great surprise Emmerdale bosses want her back," a source said.
"Mandy's ex-husband *Paddy Kirk is having marriage *problems so it makes sense to bring back Lisa."
A friend of Riley's admitted that the 36-year-old would have to think hard about making a comeback to Emmerdale.
"Lisa loved her time on Emmerdale but she's finally known for being Lisa Riley rather than Mandy Dingle," the source said.
"She wants to use her Strictly success to open new doors. Having said all that, she isn't stupid enough to rule out a return without at least discussing it."

Please no. There are far too many Dingles in Emmerdale as it is.
Emmerdale star Dominic Brunt has addressed rumours that Lisa Riley might rejoin the soap.
The Dales actor, whose alter ego Paddy Kirk was married to Riley's character Mandy Dingle, believes a surprise comeback would be "very, very interesting".
"I'm in touch with Lisa and I'm dying to ask her, but I don't think she'd tell me," he told Soaplife magazine.
"Her return would be very, very interesting. She was Paddy's first love and his first wife and she'd certainly shake things up."
New Emmerdale producer Kate Oates was said to be interested in approaching Riley, who played Mandy from 1995 to 2001.
Riley's profile soared after reaching the semi-finals of last year's Strictly Come Dancing.

So the show gets renamed, has a set of the village built and a plane crash to make the show not center around the Sugdens, but now it's just about centering around the Dingles... :thumbsdow
Oh boy... Havent we had enough of Paddy being in the central role!
Emmerdale welcomes back another fan favourite in the New Year as Lisa Riley briefly reprises her role as Mandy Dingle.
When Marlon and his new wife Jessie have their legal wedding at the local church in early January, Mandy surprises everyone by bursting in through the door – 17 years after her last appearance in the Dales.
Mandy's reappearance quickly makes a big impact on Chas Dingle, who's in a vulnerable state and lashes out at her. Mandy's ex-husband Paddy is also sure to be intrigued by the revelation that she has a 16-year-old son…
Here, Lisa Riley shares some early teasers on her big return to Soapland.
You must have been asked back a few times over the years, so what made you want to return for this storyline?
"I'm the type of person that must have an answer – I can't leave anything open-ended. I did a Q&A in June and there were 4000 people there. Usually people ask me, 'When are you going back to Emmerdale?', but I've had that since the day I left.
"It was really weird, but for some reason these people asked 'Why won't you go back to Emmerdale?' and I had no answer. So I thought: 'Well, why not? Will it do me any harm? Have I ticked my own boxes career wise?' I've done so much since, which has been great, and 17 years is such a long time.
"I'm interested to see where Mandy has been and evidently people want her back. The reaction I've had from viewers since it's been announced has been fantastic, so I think, 'Thank God, I did make the right decision!'"
How did your return come about?
"The first initial offer was for a long period, but because of work and my commitments, there was an original storyline which has been flipped. It won't be what people expect, which is even better. It leaves things very much open for the New Year, shall we say.
"I had a secret meeting with the show and I had time to have a think about whether it was the right thing, but it didn't take me a long time once they told me the story."
Does this guest return leave the door open for Mandy to return for longer?
"Yes! I'm not dead! I'm very much alive."
What has happened to Mandy over the past 17 years?
"She's still in Southampton and something has happened to her. She has a child called Vinnie. They are very similar which is really nice and gives a lot of scope. She's been very happy and has a bit of money now, so she's not as downtrodden as she was. She's also a little bit more glamorous than the mismatch she was before."
Who's been cast as Vinnie?
"Brad Johnson. He was in Kay Mellor's The Syndicate and he's brilliant. Vinnie comes to the village with Mandy and the avenues of where the stories can be taken are huge. I'm so excited."
https://images.immediate.co.uk/volatile/sites/3/2017/01/129066.7a5b4bb8-4ab2-427b-99eb-2c78204096ec.jpg?quality=90&resize=620,413
We first see Mandy at the wedding – has she been invited?
"No, she hasn't been invited! I can't tell you why she's back, but it's brilliant."
How does Mandy react when she finds out what Paddy has been through with baby Grace?
"Those are beautiful scenes. Working with Lucy Pargeter (Chas) was just amazing. We've never worked together before, but I love her work on screen. The first day I came back, I wanted to tell her how brilliant she's been in this story.
"Online, everyone's been saying Mandy and Chas are going to hate each other. There's definitely some conflict at first, but we shall see. Sometimes there is girl power and girls sticking together for the right reasons, which I think is a brilliant thing moving forward.
"They're very similar, because they are confident females, but they live with bravado and confidence when inside they're hurting. That's what they always wrote for me when I was here as Mandy.
"I honestly think Mandy and Chas are sisters. It would be wonderful to explore that, because they are so similar yet they've been through so much turmoil themselves."
Do you prefer acting or TV presenting?
"Acting, 100%. It's in my blood, but I like to be able to show the fun side of me too. I grew up on Emmerdale. All my best friends were at uni having fun, while I grew up on TV and went through my teenage years on screen. So with that in mind, wherever I went, people would say: 'Oh look, there's Mandy'.
"But when I did You've Been Framed, I was suddenly Lisa which was great. I liked the fact I'd not exactly put Mandy in a suitcase but you could evolve as a person and people saw me as Lisa Riley."
Does Mandy still have feelings for Paddy?
"I can't say. I don't want to give that away, I think that would ruin it for everybody. That's going to be a nice surprise. Even my dad's asking me: 'What's happening with you and Paddy?' I'm like: 'I'm not telling you a thing, because that's the question that everyone wants to know. So let that evolve, let that happen'. And I think you'll like it."
Emmerdale airs Mandy's return on Monday, January 7 at 7pm on ITV.

Mandy Dingle will be back with a bang in next week's Emmerdale, after she catches Jessie in the act of cheating on her husband Marlon with ex Al Chapman.
Lisa Riley's character made a brief reappearance in the village earlier this year, after a 17-year break, but it looks like this time she really means business.
Unfortunately for fans of Jessie (and actress Sandra Marvin), though, this sparks the beginning of her exit plot.

I'm looking forward to Mandy's return. I really liked her recent guest appearance. I just hope that she is not turned into yet another bog-standard soap bitch.

i cant see mandy ever as a bitch, just no to her and marlon, looking forward to her return
has money but keeps asking for money
Has Lisa put on some of her weight again??? And is she doing her own make-up? Surely a professional make-up artist would not let her leave the chair the way she looks???
Mandy Dingle will be up to her old tricks once again in Emmerdale next week.
The schemer has been pulling all sorts of scams since she recently returned to the village, but her manipulative ways caught up with her recently when Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller) took all of her money for himself and Robert Sugden (Ryan Hawley).
Next week will see Mandy (Lisa Riley) hatching yet another plot to get rich, this time involving Lydia Hart (Karen Blick).
Mandy will see an opportunity when Vinny Dingle (Bradley Johnson) tells her that there is a £5,000 grand prize for the project he's currently assisting Sam Dingle (James Hooton) with.
Later, Mandy conveniently invites a solicitor to Wishing Well who informs her that Lydia Hart recently inherited a large sum of money – so, of course, Mandy assumes Lydia's identity to get her hands on the cash.
Mandy turns up the charm, going as far as flirting with the solicitor to fool him into giving her the money without the proper vetting, but she's interrupted when the real Lydia and Sam arrive.
Although the two are oblivious to what is going on, Mandy actually starts to feel guilty about the con she's trying to pull. Is this crisis of conscience enough to convince her to stop the lying before going too far?
Fans have also been predicting that Mandy could cause trouble in Paddy Kirk and Chas Dingle's relationship, with Lisa Riley recently offering her own thoughts on the intriguing dynamic.

Never liked her much before .. certainly do not like her since her return and that will not change the way her character is going .
I adore Mandy. She's great, but that doesn't mean I want her to succeed in her latest scheme.
so mandy and her not son vinny were working the scam in the casino for charity

Looks like she is going to be around a bit longer :(
Emmerdale actress Lisa Riley has teased how her character Mandy Dingle could be set to turn her life around in a major way.
Ever since her return to the Yorkshire Dales this autumn, Mandy has been pulling scams – including attempting to steal inheritance money belonging to Lydia.
However, in last night's hour-long episode, Mandy defended herself by insisting that she was just resorting to desperate measures to pay back casino boss Terry.
And the soap star has now hinted that Mandy's future will begin to turn a little brighter in episodes to come.
"There are two things that Mandy needs to start saying more to her family – 'sorry' and 'thank you'," Lisa explained. "Every scam has gone wrong, but she's a trier. Mandy will pull her socks up and do anything to gain more and more money.
"Maybe employment is what she needs, a good old-fashioned job in the village. Mandy is itching to leave, but Vinny wants to stay."
She continued: "Mandy needs to feel grounded in the village, so maybe there'll be an employment move, rather than constantly trying to scam someone.
"Once you've said 'thank you' and 'sorry' to the Dingles, you have to stay true to your word. I think she truly is this time. She really proves herself and shows how truly sorry she is."

Getting sick of Mandy's overbearing attitude to everything and everybody and the actress's overacting in just about every scene.
When Vinny is with her she treats him like a little child constantly undermining him, then when he does something grown up, that's not good enough either. Her constant screaming at everybody demanding to know where Vinny is, is getting very boring.
Now that he is a happily married man with a lovely wife, maybe she will calm down and act like an adult herself. I won't be holding my breath.

Emmerdale fans have been missing the loveable and lively Mandy Dingle as she's been absent in recent episodes of the ITV soap.
Lisa Riley, who plays Mandy in the soap, has been taking a break from the show after suffering the heartbreaking loss of her grandmother. The actress also didn't attend the British Soap Awards earlier this month following her family bereavement.
However, the soap star has now shared some positive news for fans by giving an update on her return to Emmerdale.
When one fan questioned when they could expect to see Mandy back in Emmerdale, Riley confirmed: "Middle of July".

Will she get together again with Paddy, they are close
Was hoping she might be killed off, never liked the character and her constant screeching when she is upset, which is often, would not be missed by me. But yes, knowing how lazy the scriptwriters can be, easy re-match could be on the cards

Big storyline in February, possible reconnection with Paddy teased... ughh, never took to her, still cannot take to the character..
You're not the only one. I can't stand her. I try to either skip mute most of her scenes. Always seems so loud and over the top

Emmerdale star Lisa Riley has revealed that a big new storyline is on the way for her character Mandy Dingle.
The popular cast member shared some new spoilers while catching up with Digital Spy at an Inside Soap Awards photoshoot this month.
Mandy is already taking centre stage this week as she's due to tie the knot with her fianc? Paddy in this Thursday's hour-long episode (August 15).
Show bosses are keeping quiet about whether Paddy will still want to marry Mandy after he finds out about her secret side hustle as a 'financial dominatrix'.
Lisa chatted to us while taking part in Emmerdale's official nominees photoshoot for the Inside Soap Awards 2024.
Digital Spy went behind the scenes with the cast in Leeds as they posed for their glamorous photos, which appear in this week's issue of Inside Soap.
Asked about Mandy's future, Lisa told us: "The creativity that goes with the wedding is just unbelievable. We spoke with Laura Shaw, the producer, about the script and we knew which way it was going.
"Without giving too much away, obviously Mandy wants her fairytale wedding. She wants her happily-ever-after. So fingers crossed it will all work out the way she planned it and Paddy will be very, very happy. But she's been a bit naughty, hasn't she?"
Looking ahead beyond that, Lisa shared that Zak Dingle's upcoming funeral storyline will lead to a big bombshell for Mandy.
In future scenes, word reaches the village that Zak has sadly passed away. This storyline has been written in as a tribute to long-serving cast member Steve Halliwell, who passed away last December at the age of 77. He'd played Zak in the ITV soap since 1994.
Lisa continued: "Things get really, really busy. We've got our beloved tribute to Steve Halliwell. That's going to take us all the way through up until Christmas and then there's an actual storyline for Mandy, which is going to be a real [bombshell], off the back of that. That's all I can say, but the viewers are going to be very, very shocked!"
Lisa is up for the Best Comic Performance prize at the Inside Soap Awards this year, while the Dingles are in the running for Best Family.
She told us: "It's amazing to be nominated. I'm so flattered ? you always are. It's always the awards that are voted for by the public that mean the most.
"The writing for Mandy is just incredible. I can have one line in a six-page scene and it's funny. Obviously working with Dominic [Brunt, who plays Paddy] again, we have this unbreakable bond together.
"So long may the comedy keep coming ? it's nice for the episodes. Although there might be some drama coming up for Mandy soon!"
Asked why Emmerdale should win Best Soap this year, Lisa replied: "I'm saying this as a viewer ? I love watching Emmerdale. The scripts are great, the cast are great, it's not a clich? but it's a team.
"We have the crew, we all get on, we have banter on set and that comes through the screen. We've got a happy ship, the ship is sailing every day. You can't fake that, you really can't. It's nice that we can bring the trophies back to Yorkshire where they belong!"

EMMERDALE is bringing back a major legend for Zak Dingle?s funeral - and it?s going to be bad news for Mandy.
The ITV soap will soon say goodbye to Zak after news reaches the village that the beloved patriarch has died in Scotland with granddaughter Debbie.
Zak?s death comes after actor Steve Halliwell passed away last year with the soap paying tribute to the legend in the upcoming episodes.
Due to air later this month, the funeral episode was an emotional one with stars in tears filming.
But now Lisa has revealed that there?s a big return from the past turning up.
Speaking exclusively to The Sun at the Inside Soap Awards she said: ?We filmed Steve?s memorial episode which goes out soon and it?s incredible.
?So so emotional. Tears all round. Really lovely though and for all us Dingles to be there.
?It was emotional to film but there is going to be someone coming from the past who will have repercussions for Mandy and Paddy and Vinnie especially moving forward.?
While she wouldn?t be drawn on who the big return is, she did rule out one - actress Adele Silva as Kelly Windsor.
But Lisa would love for her old pal to make a shock return.
