Emmerdale's residents bid a final farewell to Carl King next month as they gather for his funeral.

Carl's half-sister Scarlett Nicholls and his two children Thomas and Anya are among those who head back to the village for the sombre service, which takes place on November 1.

After struggling to write a eulogy for the occasion, Jimmy (Nick Miles) initially considers not attending at all - but everyone is relieved when he eventually appears and seems ready for what lies ahead.

As the hearse creeps through the village, a caring Scarlett (Kelsey-Beth Crossley) tries to be there for her family as she comforts Anya and tries to take Thomas's hand.

Soon afterwards, Jude begins the service in the church but it's clear that Thomas is struggling more than most, devastated by the knowledge that his father was murdered.

Cynical over Jude's words and upset by Jimmy's eulogy, Thomas shocks everyone with an outburst in the church and then leaves. Can he be convinced to come back and pay his last respects to his dad?

Monday

Cameron visits Chas, adamant that he will get a lawyer with the rest of the cash, which leaves her feeling grateful. Debbie is wounded when Cameron tells her that he's decided to stick around for Chas. Debbie is hard-faced, but crumbles when he leaves. Soon afterwards, Dan is irked when he sees Cameron, not able to believe he has the gall to stay on in the village, while Diane is miffed that she is losing customers because of Cameron being around.

Later, Debbie is furious and takes a hammer from the garage and trashes Cameron's truck, before setting fire to his things. Charity and Cain worry about her erratic behaviour as she tells them about Cameron's plan to stay. Cain sinisterly warns Charity that he will get his revenge on Cameron one day, and Charity agrees that she wants to be part of it…

Meanwhile, Jimmy and Nicola have moved back to Mill Cottage. At Home Farm, Megan tells Nicola that she's not going to the funeral. Nicola is worried about Jimmy and wants him to go into work, concerned they are about to lose everything. At Pear Tree, Rodney and Edna are also worried about Jimmy as Charity nags him to sign the business over.

Later, Thomas and Anya arrive at Mill Cottage and Nicola realises she now has three grieving people to deal with. She asks Jimmy what he is going to tell the kids, advising him that he can't avoid the truth.

Elsewhere, Lizzie and Dan drown their sorrows in town and Lizzie ends up taking Dan back home, while Alex is jealous as Victoria gets attention from Adam and Robbie.

Tuesday

Cameron informs Chas that he has got her a lawyer, and she is close to despair over the guilt of what she did. He also tells her about the damaged truck and Chas worries about what Cain will do to Cameron, but she has an idea. Later, Cameron returns the cash that Chas took from Diane, but breaks the news that while Chas is inside she wants him to have her share of The Woolpack's income, and Diane is left fuming.

Later, Charity is furious when Diane tells her about Chas's plan and threatens Cameron in front of the whole pub. Cameron fronts it out, telling everyone he is going to get Chas out of prison and they're going to be together, leaving Charity even more furious.

Meanwhile, Jimmy is left with Thomas and Anya when Nicola declines to have a day off with them. Rodney and Edna complain to Nicola about Charity and she knows she needs to speak to Jimmy. At the same time, Jimmy struggles with Thomas and Anya, not knowing what to say to them.

Later at the garage, Cain tells Thomas some shocking truths and a grief-stricken Thomas cries. Thomas eventually asks Jimmy if the story is correct, and Jimmy finds he can't lie any longer and admits the truth.

Elsewhere, Laurel is irritated that Dan has stayed over, and tells Lizzie that next time she needs some notice. Lizzie is irked, but realises that Laurel's children come first and offers to move out.

Also today, Victoria seethes as Alex tells her that Robbie's not good enough for her and Adam's not serious enough, while Priya and David struggle to spend time alone together.

Wednesday

Scarlett arrives back in the village and heads to the office. She finds Charity working there and is curious when Rodney tells her that there have been a few changes. At the same time, Megan finds Jimmy in the graveyard. She tries to comfort him, but is shocked when he snaps at her.

Back at the office, Charity is determined to talk about plans for the business, but Rodney steers her out - shocked at her audacity. Later, Jimmy continues to struggle writing the eulogy. Grieving and confused, he says that he's not going to the funeral.

Meanwhile, Lisa feels sorry for Chas, but a torn Zak tells her to forget her, adding that other people need Lisa more. However, Lisa is aware of Chas having very few friends left and later tells Zak she's going to visit her tomorrow, determined to keep her family together.

Elsewhere, Lizzie looks for a new home. It's clear she is starting to fancy Dan, suggesting she could stay with him and Bob. In the end, she decides to move in with Lisa.

Also today, Cain is intrigued when Moira gives him baby advice and there's a moment between the pair when he thanks her, while Robbie is flirty with Scarlett and later tells Adam that he wasn't too bothered about Victoria.

Thursday

Nicola and Scarlett worry about Jimmy as he reads the condolence cards. Jimmy is adamant that Thomas and Anya must not find out the truth about Tom's death. Nicola and Scarlett then give him the eulogy they've written for him to help him out.

At the church, Jude and Edna prepare for the funeral and Edna warns Cain to stay away. Nicola and Scarlett are relieved when Jimmy appears, ready for what lies ahead. The hearse creeps through the village as Scarlett comforts Anya and tries to take Thomas's hand.

Jude begins the service as Thomas shakes his head, cynical at Jude's words. Jimmy reads his eulogy, but Thomas becomes increasingly upset and shocks everyone with an outburst in the church then leaves.

Meanwhile, Lisa visits Chas and as she asks about Carl's funeral, Chas begins to crumble. She tells Lisa how hard it is in prison and considers the impossible situation when Lisa asks what her plans are with Cameron if she gets out of prison. She falls apart as she asks Lisa to stop Cain hurting Cameron.

Back at The Woolpack, Moira asks Diane what she'll do about replacing Chas long term, and Diane is surprised by Moira's playful tone with Cain. Moira thinks Cain is hiding his true feelings about Chas.

Elsewhere, Priya and David's latest plan to spend time together in secret is foiled, while Amelia manipulates Dan about a firework display but Dan suggests he could throw a party - determined to have a big night to cheer himself up.

Thursday - second episode

Jimmy returns to the funeral after looking for Thomas, unable to find him. Edna is adamant that she'll go and look for him, while Jude urges them to continue the funeral. Edna finds Thomas and tries to talk to him, but realises it's going to be harder than she imagined. Jimmy decides to go ahead with the burial even though Thomas is not there, but it seems Edna is getting through to him as she tells him that he only gets one chance to say goodbye to his father and he'll regret it if he doesn't.

Jimmy is guilty and miserable as they head to the graveyard, but is emotional when Thomas arrives and he thanks him for having the courage to go through with it. Leaving the graveyard, Jimmy is annoyed to see Charity working, but Rodney distracts him and he tells Thomas and Anya how proud he is of them.

Later, Anya softens towards Thomas as they head to the grave, but they're surprised to see Cameron there, who quickly hurries off. A concerned Nicola comforts Jimmy as he breaks down, blaming himself for everything.

Meanwhile, Moira is shocked by Lisa's fear of what Cain might do to Cameron. Zak later talks to Cain, warning him not to seek revenge on Cameron and turn the mess into an even bigger one. Moira sees Cain outside The Woolpack looking sad and stressed, and he walks away when she questions him about his feelings.

Elsewhere, Dan is determined to get wasted at his party in the café, while David and Priya try to get away from the funeral to spend time together but Nicola railroads them into staying.

Friday

Jimmy prepares to go into the office and take on Charity, leaving Nicola hopeful. However, Charity tells him that she has different priorities to the rest of the family, and knows she has him exactly where she wants him. Back at Mill Cottage, Jimmy braces himself to tell Nicola that he wants out of the business. Nicola is furious and Jimmy heads out, saying that he's getting away from everything.

In The Woolpack, Nicola shouts at Charity for everything she's done to the business, and Jai is amused as Charity just smiles. Later, Jimmy explains to Nicola why he wants out of the business, and although she understands his reasons, she is terrified of what it means for their family.

Meanwhile, Jai is awkward when Dan invites him to the party, knowing Rachel will be there. However, he has to go when Charity persuades him to take Noah as she is busy with work. Rachel is awkward when Jai arrives at the café and Sam asks her about the baby's father, wondering why she is sad all the time. Jai glares when he sees her take a swig of beer, but feels bad and later offers to take Samson so Sam can help Rachel clear up.

Elsewhere, Lizzie has a spring in her step when Dan invites her along to his party, but she covers her feelings for him. She is glammed up as she heads to the party, and Dan ends up inviting her back to his for a nightcap. At Dale Head, Bob leaves them to it and Dan asks Lizzie about her past, leaning in to kiss her. However, Lizzie wants to keep him at arm's length and avoid getting hurt.

Also today, Sean flirts with Anya before the party but Dan advises him to play it cool, Rhona puts Laurel in her place about Leo's nursery placement but later enters the vets in a flap because he didn't get it, while Paddy fears things are going from bad to worse as he has his disciplinary in two days.

Not read everything, but has Charity forged Carl's signature on the contract ? last time I seen it, it wasn't signed. So Jimmy is the boss with 40%, she only has 20% unless she has forged Carl's signature.

Missed some of Emmerdale as I get home a bit late on Tuesday evenings, but you are right, if there is a signature, then she would have forged it

Jimmy might not know yet that Carl had not signed his shares over to Charity

I think Charity found the unsigned contract on Carl's desk and was taking it probably to forge when the cops came in and Edna pointed to the contract in Charity's possession

Mark Flanagan

‘A new King of Salford’

Salford Actor Mark Flanagan joins the cast of the popular ITV soap, Emmerdale from Monday 29th October. 18-year-old Mark plays Thomas King, the son of the recently killed off, Carl King.

Mark has been developing his acting skills since a young age, attending performance workshops at David Johnson Drama as part of his development as an Actor. It was here that Mark was first spotted by talent scouts from the MediaCityUK based casting agency, Scream Management, who went on to secure Mark roles in Jimmy McGovern’s Accused on BBC1 and, Sheridan Smith’s Little Crackers, on Sky1.

Mark, a student of music performance at Pendleton College, Salford, is thrilled to be joining the Yorkshire based soap. “I think I may have deafened my Agent when she called me to tell me the great news. “My Gran is a massive fan of Emmerdale”, Mark says, “She never misses an episode and, is over the moon about me joining the cast.”
