Reading the comments from the producers " Viewers will be surprised as to the murder victim , not who viewers think it will be, victim had it coming, family will be moved etc." Difficult to think of someone who ticks all the boxes. Carl now seems too obvious,
Rodney, can't see how he had it coming, same for Jimmy. Cameron who cares. The latest comment from the cast ,"devastated when they found out who it was" .Baffles me , Declan, Cain might be Ashley ?

Somehow hoping it is Robbie but as he has only just arrived, I doubt it is him, they will continue that storyline and no doubt introduce his father at some stage, just don't like him at all

After watching tonights episodes , my money is on Declan being murdered , no other reason than he repeated about three times what he was planning for next year, and fits in with the comments made by the producers.

Emmerdale has killed off Carl King in the soap's special 40th anniversary live episode tonight (October 17).

Tom Lister made his final appearance as the calculating businessman, who was twice hit on the head by a brick, first by Chas Dingle and then by Cameron Murray.

Carl was initially wounded following a fight with his ex Chas, which he started upon learning that she lied about wanting to run away with him.

Then Cameron, who'd had a confrontation with Carl in the church earlier in the evening, returned to finish off the job.

Cameron found Carl and tried to force him to promise not to send raunchy photos of him and Chas to Debbie.

Shrugged off by an arrogant Carl, who refused to agree to Cameron's demands, Cameron hit him from behind as he parted with the famous last words: "I'm indestructible!"

Bosses have managed to keep the identity of tonight's victim hidden since announcing the death in September.

With a character set to be arrested next Tuesday, fans will now be left to wonder whether the police will find the right culprit for Carl's murder. Lets hope they do it quick - don't want an eternal Whodunnit storyline but then Hotten police don't have the best record :wall:

Carl, whose funeral will take place next Friday, was the first King to arrive in Emmerdale in 2004, with Lister having clocked up eight years on the ITV soap.

Emmerdale Live also featured the live births of Gennie and Nikhil's baby girl as well as Debbie and Andy's baby boy.

The hour-long episode also focused on the aftermath of Declan and Katie's wedding, which culminated with a scene showing Declan's sister Megan pushing bride Katie's face into the cake.

Emmerdale's 40th anniversary celebration continues tomorrow in the show's usual Thursday double bill, starting from 7pm and concluding at 8pm.

I'm guessing it's Jimmy who's arrested because Bob saw them then ran away. I don't think Chas should be charged considering it was self-defence, but I hope Cameron's sent to prison. Or better still, commits suicide

Emmerdale fans can look forward to explosive scenes next week as Chas Dingle must finally face the music for her affair with Cameron Murray.

In long-awaited showdown scenes on the ITV1 soap, viewers will see Debbie, Cain and Charity head to The Woolpack in furious moods to confront Chas (Lucy Pargeter) over her shocking betrayal.

Storming into the pub with the others, Charity is livid to hear that Chas and Cameron (Dominic Power) are hiding out in the back together, so she tells the whole bar what they've been up to.

When Diane finally lets Chas's livid family members through to the back, the room is already empty as the troubled landlady has attempted to flee.

Rushing outside, they all find Chas attempting to make a getaway with Cameron, but it's clear that they won't be able to get away from this situation so easily…

Emmerdale airs these scenes on Monday (October 22) at 7pm on ITV1.

While Chas Dingle is forced to face the consequences of her affair on Emmerdale next week, this soon becomes the least of her worries as she is charged with murder.

Chas (Lucy Pargeter) is convinced that she is responsible for the untimely end of Carl King following their violent showdown in the soap's live episode, completely unaware that it was actually Cameron Murray who finished off the job by attacking him with a brick.

Unwilling to let prime suspect Jimmy King get the blame for his brother's grisly death, Chas tells the police that she was the one who killed Carl.

When Chas is arrested and quizzed, she makes it clear that she acted in self-defence as Carl was trying to rape her. However, as the truth comes out about Carl's blackmail, the detectives soon decide that this was no accident.

Following two days of intense questioning, Chas eventually hears that she'll be charged with Carl's murder - and she is devastated that her honest account hasn't been believed.

The situation gets even worse for Chas when she heads to court and hears that she'll be remanded in custody until the trial takes place.

With few allies left after everything she's done, is there any hope left for Chas?

Emmerdale's Chas Dingle is left horrified this evening (October 24) as she realises that the police do not believe she is telling the truth over Carl King's murder.

Following a night in a cell, Chas (Lucy Pargeter) is expecting to soon be released as she has answered every question honestly. However, the main detective investigating the case warns that it might not be as simple as that.

Later, during another session of tough questioning, Chas is distraught as it becomes clear that her self-defence explanation is not being accepted by the authorities.

In the end, the detectives announce that Chas will be charged with Carl's murder, as they're convinced this was a deliberate attempt to get rid of him due to his blackmail. With nobody suspecting real culprit Cameron Murray, is Chas going to be sent down for a crime she didn't commit?

Emmerdale's Cameron Murray makes a massive decision this evening (October 26) as he vows to stay in the village after all.

Cameron (Dominic Power) has decided to move back to Jersey following the recent turbulent events in his personal life, but everything changes when he heads to the prison to see ex-lover Chas Dingle 'one last time'.

Chas (Lucy Pargeter) assures Cameron that he's doing the right thing by leaving as there is nothing left for him in Emmerdale, but she also confesses that she doesn't regret their affair and still loves him.

Given food for thought following Chas's admission, Cameron declares that he feels the same way and no longer wants to leave. However, with Cain still on the warpath, is he making a dangerous mistake by not fleeing while he can?
