Emmerdale actor Steve Halliwell has said that he would be "devastated" if his character Zak Dingle was killed off.

Producers recently revealed that one of the soap's cast will die during a live episode airing later this month. The scenes mark the 40th anniversary of the show, and 58-year-old Halliwell - who has played farmer Zak for 18 years - hopes that he will not be the one to go.

"I'd be devastated," he told PA when considering the possibility that Zak may be killed off.

"You've got financial commitments, and you get to a certain age where you don't want to go back to square one. Personally I'd be devastated if they killed Zak."

Fellow cast member Tony Audenshaw - who has played barman Bob Hope for 12 years - revealed that he is less worried about being written out of the show.

"It's fine," he said. "It's all part of being in a soap. I only came for three months, so I'm just glad I'm here now. No-one owes us a living."

Both Halliwell and Audenshaw will appear in the live episode, but neither has been shown the full script in an effort to keep the plot top secret.

"We're only shown bits so it doesn't leak out," Halliwell explained.

John Middleton, who plays vicar Ashley Thomas, revealed that the whole cast has been feeling nervous about the upcoming scenes.

He said: "We've all admitted we're having the classic actor's nightmare of waking up... on stage. You don't know what the play is, no-one's given you a clue, and you can't get across to the prompter's corner."

Emmerdale launches its 40th anniversary celebrations on Monday, October 15.

Emmerdale's 40th anniversary week kicks off with deception in the air later this month as Chas Dingle promises to run away with ex-fiancé Carl King.

Chas (Lucy Pargeter) makes the surprising declaration to Carl on the day of her wedding to Dan Spencer - but in reality, she has no intention of revisiting her relationship with the village bad boy.

Still terrified that Carl will expose her recent affair unless he gets what he wants, Chas plays a very careful game with the ruthless businessman - convincing him that she's going to give them another shot.

Chas explains that she'll leave Emmerdale with Carl that night, but first she wants time to break up with Dan in her own way.

Later, Chas's ex-lover Cameron Murray (Dominic Power) pays her a visit in The Woolpack's back room, keen to find out whether she has finally sorted things with Carl.

Cameron is left stunned as Chas reveals that she has falsely told Carl she'll run away with him tonight, but in reality she's getting out of the village with Dan as soon as the wedding is over.

This is the last thing Cameron wants to hear as he knows he will be left exposed by Chas's plan - but it seems that her mind is made up. Will Chas's idea pay off, or is she heading for a lot more trouble?

Emmerdale airs these scenes on Monday, October 15 at 7pm on ITV1.

It might be Cameron who dies. Maybe there is a struggle between him and Chas and she whacks him and kills him. The truth about Chas and Cameron has to come out but it won't if Carl is killed. Let Carl live get rid of Cameron.

Monday

It's Chas and Dan's wedding day, and Chas is desperately trying to keep her nerves in check. As Debbie nervously awaits her induction this afternoon, Cameron steals an opportunity to see Chas by offering to deliver the flowers Debbie has bought her. Chas is dismissive when Cameron worries about what they're going to do and tells him she's dealing with it.

Soon afterwards, arriving at Carl's, Chas plays a very careful game - convincing him that she's going to give them another shot and will leave with him that night, but she wants time to break up with Dan in her own way.

With the pressure mounting, Chas asks Katie if she and Dan can get married first, covering that she's getting cold feet and just wants it over and done with. Katie is furious and after a slanging match between the two brides, the joint reception is called off. Chas then explains to a confused Dan that they're no longer having a joint reception - she just wants to get married and get as far away from the village as soon as possible.

Later, in the Woolpack backroom, Cameron arrives to see a fraught Chas. She reveals that she has falsely told Carl she'll run away with him tonight, but in reality is getting out of there as soon as the wedding is over. Aware he will be left exposed by Chas's plan, Cameron is left reeling...

Meanwhile, at Home Farm, Nicola is in control as everyone gets ready for the big day. As Declan leaves for the church, Megan looks at the accounts and spots a transaction to Katie for £250,000. She is furious to discover that her brother has ripped her off.

At the same time, Katie is blissfully happy and arrives at the church looking beautiful. She enters and joins Declan at the front, while outside, Megan's car screeches to a halt. As proceedings begin, a seething Megan storms in and demands answers from her brother…

Elsewhere, Jimmy is floored when Edna lets slip at the wedding that Carl has sold his entire share of the business to Charity behind his back. Fuming, he storms out to confront his scheming brother.

Tuesday

At Tug Ghyll, Debbie starts experiencing contractions and tries to get hold of Cameron, who is about to confront Carl. Unable to reach Cameron, Debbie tells Cain and Zak that they need to get her to the hospital ASAP.

On the way to the hospital, Cain's car breaks down and Debbie is struggling to cope with her pain and fear. It is critical to get Debbie to the hospital for the directed cord blood collection in order to save Sarah. Will Debbie make it to the hospital in time to ensure the safe arrival of Sarah's saviour sibling?

Meanwhile, Jimmy is boiling with fury and confronts Carl about selling his share of the business to Charity behind his back. A massive row begins, and Carl makes it clear to Jimmy that he means nothing to him anymore. Jimmy retorts that Carl has no-one left in the world, reminding him that the woman he loves is currently in church marrying someone else. Carl then punches Jimmy and a full-on fight ensues.

Elsewhere, Cameron is furious about Carl, and is determined he's not having everything on his terms. Ignoring Debbie's calls, he hangs around outside Mill Cottage. However, Jimmy arrives and scuppers his opportunity to have it out with Carl. Cameron watches unseen as the King brothers tear each other apart.

Also, Chas's nerves are in tatters as her wedding ceremony begins. Will Chas and Dan tie the knot uninterrupted?

Finally, during her second of the day's bridesmaid duties, Gennie lets out a gasp of pain...

Me thinks its carl , as for the posts about Zak not wanting to be the one killed off, well there's a shot of Zak and Cain in the Ambulance taking debbie to hospital so you would think they 2 would be with her through out ????

By the looks of Carl selling his shares wants out, so a if he was killed of, not only would we get rid of someone with little to do in the soap, it would leave Charity's deal stumped. Unless he signs the papers before hand, you would think he would leave his shares to his brother ??

Dominic Power hints to Soaplife that Cameron... and Chas... and Debbie will be a big part of the drama that unfolds for the soap's 40th anniversary live episode.

The web Cameron's weaved is just about as tangled as it gets. And that's because he still can't decide whether he loves Debbie the most or Chas. "Ultimately he's confused," says Dominic. "It’s a messy situation. Cameron loves Debbie massively, he adores Sarah and he loves having a family unit. But he also has very deep feelings for Chas. I don't think Cameron knows what he wants." With it all due to kick off big time in Emmerdale's live 40th anniversary episode, we reckon it won't be about what he wants - it'll be about what he gets!

Just before Chas is due to marry Dan, she drops a new bombshell on Cameron...
"She tells Cameron that she's told Carl she'll run away with him, but that really she's going to marry Dan and run away with him! Cameron's left reeling. He's the one who will be left exposed by Chas's plan."

What can viewers expect from the 40th anniversary episodes?
"Viewers can expect some long-awaited fireworks. It will have been worth the wait. It’s all going to come to a head in a very big way. Ultimately, at some point, it's all going to come crashing down."

Have you enjoyed the Cameron and Chas storyline?
"It's always great to play villains and this one's been really nice to get my teeth into. It helps that Cameron was so charming and now he's become so duplicitous. I think what Cameron is good at doing is being your worst nightmare, but with a twinkle in his eye."

How are you feeling about the special live episode?
"Every time I hear that four-letter word 'live' I get a sort of numb sensation in my left arm and I think I'm about to have a bit of a clutcher. I think it'll be a good challenge. There's a real buzz, a real adrenaline to the atmosphere and I'm hoping that's what carries me through."

Emmerdale star Adam Thomas has teased his character Adam Barton's new romance storyline with Victoria Sugden, revealing that the young farmer wants more than just a fling.

The pair share a kiss this Thursday (October 18), while next week's episodes see Adam invite Victoria (Isabel Hodgins) out for a drink because he wants to spend more time with her.

However, with Victoria trying to play it cool with Adam, it's unclear whether the pair will get their potential relationship off the ground.

Thomas told TV Choice of the storyline: "Adam had never really looked at Victoria in a romantic way before. She'd been seeing his mate Alex, so he'd never really thought of her like that.

"Things began to change at the festival - she looked really pretty, she was lots of fun and she was single, so I think he just suddenly realised what he thought of her and that he found her really attractive."

Discussing the pair's future, he continued: "Adam's kind and well brought-up and he does treat his ladies well. It's not quite love yet, but Victoria means more to him than just a fling.

"Having said all that, he's also a bit of a lad and inclined to be a bit blokey as well, and that might mean things won't always run smoothly!"

Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7pm on ITV1.

I can see that happening, Cameron hiding as Jimmy and Carl fight, Cameron kills Carl and the cops being soap cops will say they have Jimmy bang to rights. He will be arrested and will be in jail awaiting trial, then just as he is about to be done with it, Chas who know (she will have gotten it out of Cameron) will step in and tell the truth to stop Jimmy being put away. Then all hell will break loose between Debbie Cameron Cain and Chas.

I think he was running to get help maybe?

Emmerdale star Chris Bisson has admitted that he is feeling "jittery" with just hours to go before the soap's live episode.

The actor, who plays Jai Sharma, confessed that there were some last-minute mistakes when cast and crew gathered for their second full-length dress rehearsal last night (October 16).

Speaking on Key 103 this morning (October 17), Bisson explained: "Do you know what, I wasn't really nervous until I woke up this morning, but then it sinks in! It's been going really well, the rehearsals went really smooth, but then a couple of things went wrong.

"The first dress rehearsal was great, but then in the second one, a couple of things went wrong. I got a bit jittery! But I think we're good and it'll be okay."

He continued: "It's a bit stressful, but when they asked who wanted to take part in it, some people said, 'I don't want to do it!' But I said, 'Guys you've got to be in it!' It's a real one-off, as there's not much live drama that gets done in Britain."

While he may have been offering a red herring, Bisson appeared to confirm rumours that this evening's mystery death will be a male character.

He teased: "I'm not sure you'll be shocked, but that person is a much-loved character. I suppose some of the audience might not like him, but he is a much-loved character."

Jai is currently hiding a big secret on screen as he is expecting a baby with Rachel Breckle (Gemma Oaten) following a one-night stand. However, Bisson confirmed that the truth will stay under wraps for now.

"My wife on the show is Charity and she's very formidable," he said. "Every time I go to the supermarket, people say, 'Your wife's going to kick off when she finds out!'

"It doesn't come out tonight. That storyline is playing out for a lot, lot longer. It's all one story day, so in tonight's episode we're still on the same day from Monday. I'm the best man for Declan and Katie's wedding, and Megan's gunning for them!"

Emmerdale Live airs tonight from 7pm on ITV1.
